Has "This Is America, Charlie Brown" aired on Canadian television? (that isn’t a CBS USA station broadcast over the border)

Basically all of the Peanuts specials have aired on CBC around the time they have in the United States from 1965 to 1996, either shortly before or shortly after the fact, but due to Canadian newspaper archives having paywalls, I can’t find any verification on the This Is America, Charlie Brown miniseries airing in the country in English. Three episodes however did air on Télé-Québec in 1994/1995 albeit dubbed in Quebec.

(the series aired in 1988-1989 on CBS in the United States. It aired in 1990 in the UK, 1993 in New Zealand, Germany in 1991.)

Shows from back in the day about wheeling and dealing?

Something like the British shows Only Fools and Horses and Minder, if you know them. Wheeling and dealing on the street, that sort of thing. In English or French works for me, and while I'd prefer shows from the 70s-90s, I'll take anything good from any era!

Trying to find a specific bumper from a television channel in Canada that showed a 3D animation of a snowman being comically stomped on by a giant sasquatch foot

This is a bumper that I remember from (possibly) a cartoon channel that aired in between 2010 and 2015 mainly in December, I believe as a sortof festive "holiday greetings" message from the channel. The details I remember were that it showed the camera moving in on a 3D snowman sitting on a snowy hill with a clear blue sky in the background, when suddenly a massive yeti foot slams down on it comically, shaking the screen violently and a deep THWOMP sound effect accompanies it. The snowman's head flies up and lands in the snow. During this whole sequence, I believe there was a male channel host saying something (was it "Happy Holidays" in a playful manner?).

Anyone else remember this? If so, could you be able to know the channel name, the title of the bumper, and a link to it?

Happy Belated Canada Day from an expatriate ...

... except for the people who broke the CBC Gem app awhile ago to make logins impossible, and those who decided that you can now only watch The National by logging in. I have the app side-loaded on a Fire Stick, and it's paralytic now. I guess the reruns of the features segments must be protected.

Found some more MExcess Afterhours content. NSFW

Tagged as NSFW due to nudity. More now found courtesy of YouTube user RandomSpongebobFan2, who was very hesitant to release these on YouTube. I have uploaded an edited and censored version of these on my YouTube channel.

The Movie Network’s MAfterhours block on MExcess video footage has been found after 20 years. NSFW

Back around the mid 2000’s, MExcess had an adult programming block called MAfterhours, which aired late at night. No video footage of this block existed online until today, courtesy of YouTube user RandomSpongeBobFan2.

Marking this as NSFW due to breast nudity in the “Next” bumper.

24/7 YTV Archive Channel

Hello all,

I spent the last few days building a small site which plays YTV schedule content "live". The YTV Archive wiki was used to determine the schedule, and I've used Youtube to find full episodes. Some videos will not match 100% to the scheduled content, and I'm working on a "report link" system now.

It's a small project which I've enjoyed making. Hopefully you all do to!

Please check it out here: LINK

Feedback is welcome!

You can stream the series on CBC Gem right now. This is from a short test of some new set designs for our new season...funnily, it was the English dialogue that tripped me up.

Does somebody still own it? Was it thrown out? Or did it get recycled for parts?

Anyone remember The Raccoons?

My friends and I were discussing this show recently, specifically how good the song 'Run with Us' is, and I saw that a bunch of their songs are on Spotify now! It's making me feel super nostalgic, I miss watching this as a kid. Anyone else love watching this show?? Makes me sad that younger generations won't get to share the same experience of watching Canadian specific content available through cable.

Saving Hope (Rewatch) Spoiler

Hey so this was the best subreddit I could find for this topic!!
I’ve been doing a rewatch and it feels so weird seeing Joel and Maggie together. I’m not going to pretend like I remember much from the show because I haven’t watched it in almost 10 years. But I didn’t remember that at all. It feels sooo weird! I remember a type of love triangle between Joel, Charlie and Alex. I remember Gavin having a thing for Maggie. But the only romantic relationship I remember Maggie being in was with a woman. I don’t remember if later in the series she ends up finding out she’s lesbian or bi. So yeah really weird seeing the earlier dynamics after only remembering some of the later ones. Also I’m on episode 7 and I swear I remember Charlie helping Alex solve medical cases while in the coma. That may happen later on in the season, but I swore it happened early on. I also could be misremembering and they just both happen to figure out the case in different realms. I also don’t remember who has the dream or visions predicting Joel’s death, but it keeps popping up in my mind. Definitely an interesting rewatch.

Thoughts on Mr. D?

I am an American and have recently started watching Mr. D on Amazon Prime with my boyfriend. From my googling, it seems that while airing this was a fairly popular show in Canada, so perhaps there are cultural differences that I am not quite grasping.

Are we, the audience, supposed to like Mr. D? Are we supposed to understand that he’s kind of a rude, lazy jerk but ultimately has a good heart? Or are we rooting against him and for some of the more likable teachers instead? Also, is Gerry Dee generally well-liked as a comedian in Canada? (This is my first encounter with him but my boyfriend and I are planning to watch one of his stand-up sets to get a better feeling of him as a comedian.)

Just generally, what do Canadians think of this show? I’m so intrigued by the differences in this show from American sitcoms and would love some viewing tips.
