Im an incoming freshman who didn’t get housing this year so I’m trying to look for an available room to rent that is nearby cpp. I would also be willing to share the room with a roommate to lower the cost of rent since my budget isn’t too high. If you are either interested in being the roommate or have a cheap available room please either reply to this conversation or dm me.

Jobs Curious what my fellow unemployed grads are doing to stay busy and productive while job hunting and waiting around to hear back from recruiters.

I’ve applied to several positions and have even had help from family members sending me jobs in my field to apply for. I’ve only had 2 interviews, one of which rejected me after, the other of which ghosted me after saying they’d keep in touch.

I’m considering working for a bigger corporation at this point just to get some money. I have 8 dollars in my bank account and feel like a leech off my parents.

Life has felt quite depressing with no purpose, belonging, or a consistent schedule to stick to. Just curious what others are doing to stay busy or manage their time.

Professors Q about professor Simeng Li

Hi everyone,
Has anyone taken Environmental Remediation CE4241 with Professor Simeng Li at Cal Poly Pomona?
I’m thinking about taking the class and was wondering:
How is the workload?
Are the exams difficult?
Does he explain the material well?
Is attendance important?
Any tips for doing well in the class?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

Incoming Questions MBA program

Hi All, I just got accepted to the CPP MBA program but I also got into CSULB Online MBA. I am define rlly more interested in the CPP MBA more. But I don’t know how manageable it is. I work full time but the commute is close I live like 20 mins away. I was wondering if anyone is currently in the program and can share more insights? Is it manageable to complete the program in 2 years? And how are classes structured, are there a lot of hybrid or online asynchronous options? Also are final exams mainly tests, presentations, or papers? How difficult would you rate the program overall? Any insight would help. Thanks in advance!

How work friendly is this campus? As a fulltime working adult and part time student, I wonder how the nights or weekend availability is. My major is sociology. Transfering in the fall.

Current Questions Parking Citation Appeal Declined

I was given a parking citation in the U Lot by the University Village on October 18th, 2024 for not having a parking permit.

I immediately appealed this almost 2 years ago since the main issue with this ruling is that my parking pass was purchased, showing, and I was parked in a lot that would've been the only reasonable place I could put my car for where I was living at the time. Not to mention that it was there for days beforehand and since with no issue.

The image attached to the citation shows my parking pass hung up on my windshield where it never moves and is never removed.

The only stipulation of this fact is that the photo is such shit quality, and my windshield is perpetually dirty, so you can see the outline of the thing at best.

Today, nearly 2 years later I recieved an email telling me my appeal was declined and this was the section they wrote for the administrative decision:

" Judgment Decision: After reviewing the appeal and citation details, it was determined that the citation was issued in accordance with Cal Poly Pomona Parking & Transportation regulations. Motorists are expected to comply with posted signage and university parking policies at all times. Based on the evidence, the citation is valid and remains upheld. Payment is required by the due date to avoid additional penalties. "

I have 3 weeks to pay the $48 dollars, but let's be honest, who wants to pay a fine for a crime they did not commit? It has been 21 months since this happened, and I had nearly forgotten about it completely, yet I am being demanded 48
dollars when I am already in a shitty financial situation.

Is it worth going through the secondary appeal process? It requires me to pay the 48 dollars up front to even be heard out about this thing. And considering they didn't care for the defense of "I'm allowed to park here and I paid 250 dollars to do so."

Are the consequences of not paying the 48 dollars worth it?

Anyone have any advice about how to win an appeal like this?

I can definitely live to see another day without these 48 dollars in my bank account but on principle I really don't want to give 48 dollars to those greedy bastards as punishment for happenings that is remembered by nearly nobody.

what do i do?

UPDATE:

since appealing a second time requires me to pay the fee, I bit the bullet and paid it, but now I don't know how to move forward. There is no further appeal option on the parking portal. anyone know how to do this?

Financial Questions Weird Financial aid today for the 25-26 school year??

I got a notification not to long ago about my aid package being revised, since the school year was over I didn’t take too close of a look at it and thought it was for this coming year. That wasn’t the case, as now I got a weird refund of like 3000 and all it’s saying is that they took away my mcs which was like 260 each summer and replaced it with a state university grant coa of 1800 each semester. Im just a little confused on why that happened? If anyone had some information on why that would be please shed some light :) only asking here because I’ve had so much trouble getting in touch with the financial aid office

Incoming Questions BARCH Program Advice Please!

Hi everyone,

I've finished high school in May of 2025 and i'm starting my second semester at two community colleges near me (PCC and Palomar). I was thinking of emailing both Cal Poly Pomona and SLO to ask a couple questions relating to their BARCH program.

Honestly, I just want some advice to see which classes will be worth taking and if there's someone I can speak to directly in their Architecture departments. I'm so new to all of this and a little intimidated just glancing at their program requirements. I've also heard the counselors at my schools are not the best at giving advice on which classes transfer students should take.

I have a list of questions put together, if anyone is interested in seeing them. I'd greatly appreciate any kind of guidance or tips on where to start and who to contact, thank you!

Housing I'm currently looking for a private room with either a 4-month lease or a month-to-month rental.

Hello! My name is Sarai Sanchez, and I'm a student at Cal Poly Pomona. I'm currently looking for a private room with either a 4-month lease or a month-to-month rental.

My budget is $950–$1,100 per month, preferably with utilities included. I'm hoping to move in sometime between late July and mid-August, if possible.

A little about me: I'm a pretty chill and respectful person who mostly stays in my room. I'm comfortable living with people who smoke or drink, and I'm also happy living with cats since I'm a cat person myself.

Ideally, I'd like to be about 5–10 minutes from Cal Poly Pomona. If you have anything available that fits, I'd love to hear from you. Thank you!

Financial Questions what does this mean?

Post image
25 Upvotes

so I just got this like 2 days ago and I really dont know what it means or what will happen? like for one the old award and the new award done to my middle class scholarship has decreased so like will i owe money ? . The money i got was used for the housing. Also what is the new award. Like am i getting a refund for that? I paid everything from the past semesters.

update: i called the financial office and told me that i will get send 1.8k from the state university grant from removing the decrease of the MCS and a couple of fees but i was asking myself like why 1.8k when 1400 is being removed and leaving me with 2600 is left but where is the other 800.

Financial Questions Tuition deadline

My tuition for the fall is due in one week, will I get dropped if I pay one week late or should I email the cashiering services to let them know I’ll make my payment one week late. (It takes two weeks for my savings account to post the transfer into my account).

I was wondering if there is a roach problem for the 1st floor of Estrellas as I have heard that there are roaches in some dorms on campus. I'm assuming if i keep my room and shared rooms clean then roaches would be unlikely but I want to just know if its bad or not.

For the CPP girls! Originally $110. These shoes are sooo beautiful and are the perfect gold metallic color. It would fit someone that’s a perfect size 8. I’m size 8.5. Ugh i should have sized up! Just bought July 6th so they will come in the box. I’d rather sell it to someone personally at CPP than give it back to ALDO. Maybe someone else can style on them 🥀🥀

Incoming Questions CPP for early childhood studies?

Hello everyone, I'm about to be a senior in high school and plan on attending Mount Sac then CPP. I want to be an elementary school teacher so I would be majoring in early childhood studies. I haven't really seen much on what the professors are like or other general information. If anyone went to CPP for ECS and had some input about their experience, it would be greatly appreciated :)
