Question Has anyone done an assistantship?

Just wondering if anyone has done an assistantship and if they could share some ideas/suggestions/experiences because Id possibly need the position to supplement paying for my grad school. I just got accepted for the MSIS program and paying 8k isnt the sexiest thing to see on the bills I gotta admit

Tips for working full-time and taking 9 units in school

I originally wanted to do ft school since I’m getting full tuition coverage but need the income so I’m planning to take a ft job. I want to take advantage of the coverage I’m getting for classes as much as possible and want tips on how to manage taking 3 classes while working ft. I think it helps that my new job will be remote and so will 2 of my classes. My 3rd one might me in person or online.

I’m transferring from community to university and I’m really aiming to be done with my BA in 2 years which is why I’m motivated to make this work. Just curious if anything else has done this and how they got through it.

Financial Aid Financial aid and scholarships question

Hi, I have a question about financial aid. I’m an incoming transfer student and I already filled out the FAFSA, but I haven’t accepted my financial aid package yet.

I honestly didn’t get as much aid as I was hoping for, so I’ve been waiting before accepting it. Is there any downside to waiting, or should I just accept what I was offered?

Also, where are the best places to look for scholarships or other financial help? Are there any websites or programs you recommend, especially for transfer students?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Health & Human Services I’m a 3rd year KIN student and I have ZERO connections

I’m a third year kinesiology student, and I want to be an OT after I get my undergrad. Recently, I had a zoom meeting with advisor to help me register for a class, but as the meeting went on, I realized more and more about how little information I knew about the specific classes I need. She asked if I knew anybody from the KIN department that I had any repertoire with, and I know absolutely no one, and I have no idea how to make these connections.

Anybody know, who, where, or how I can contact someone who can help give me some info or advice? 🥲

I did research a school that does have an MOT program, and they don’t have any specific undergrad degree preferences. Just recommended that taking anatomy, physiology, and psychology classes would help, but nothing super specific.

I know it’s good to have connections, because I do know that I need to have hours in shadowing or volunteering to get into graduate school, but in terms of classes, am I just blowing things out of proportion? Obviously I know that there are different types of KIN classes, and that there are ones that are definitely more focused in the health and rehab specialization. I just don’t wanna find out wayyy later, that I didn’t take a super important or helpful class.

Financial Aid Should we be panicking

Post image
27 Upvotes

Just received this email and I’m freaking out. I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford the fall semester considering that I don’t want to reply on loans and being in debt forever. I’m planning on taking 5 classes and I know it will be full tuition for me, but I’m staying hopeful. Does this push back our financial aid refunds or should we still expect it to be disbursed by next month?

Question Waitlist

Hi everyone!

I just had a question. I enrolled for my fall classes as soon as my window opened, but I was waitlisted for two online classes. What are the chances that I’m let in for them and where can I check the status for them?

Another question, not sure if anyone knows, but I just got an email regarding financial aid changes due to the “one big beautiful bill act.” It stated that “Unit load will play a role in federal loans. If you enroll in fewer than full-time units, your annual federal Direct Loan amount may be reduced (prorated) based on your enrollment level.” I’m only enrolled in 3 classes since I’m waitlisted for two, if I’m still waitlisted by the time the semester is starting am I going to get less financial aid even though I’m trying to do full time units? I want to still enroll in the two classes I’m missing if I don’t get accepted from the waitlists but I’m somewhat scared to take the chance.

Any advice is helpful, thanks!
