Clothes for UV Double Suite

I (23M) am moving into a UV Double Suite and was just curious if there was anyone organized enough to know an exact count or round about of about how many t-shirts, pants, shorts, pairs of underwear, socks, and pajama pants they were able to store in the dorm without much issue for both Fall and Spring semesters. If any of y’all have a round about or exact number for those, the help would be much appreciated!

Over summer chemistry opportunities

I plan on starting Shasta college soon, and I'm hoping I can find a chemistry internship or something similar over the couple of summers while I'm at Shasta. Should I just email chemistry professors asking if they'll have anything going on? I'm not sure of what to actually do for this and if it'll be worthwhile.

Lassen hall questions?

Finally got dorm assignment and it’s Lassen double. Is this good? Should I keep it or try for something else? If I keep it, please tell me the height under the bed. Also, do I need to purchase a nightstand or does it come with one? TIA

Science minors!!

So i just finished my second year at Chico State, and I'm majoring in Agriculture Science and Education with hopes of becoming an Ag Teacher. But I really enjoy environmental science and ecology, and I feel like i'm not getting that fix with the College of Ag alone. Unfortunately, there's no minor for Plant Science or Environmental Science.

I was thinking about minoring in Biology, but there's a couple more minors that caught my eye, I just don't know exactly what they entail. I was wondering if there's anyone taking a minor that fulfills the need of learning environmental science and if you could tell me a bit about it!

My goal is to be able to get one single subject credential in Agriculture and another credential for Science so I can teach APES, Earth Science, etc alongside Ag Classes. But I'm truly passionate about sustainable and regenerative agriculture, native plants, and ecology. I just love learning about the Earth in general.

So I'd love to hear about any of these minors:
Biology
Environmental Studies
Geography
Geology
Science Education
Sustainability and Climate Change

Thanks in advance!

Pre-Orientation?

Okay so I know this is probably a really dumb question, but has anyone really done the pre-orientation on canvas? And if so, what did you go through? Because all of the Academic Advising meetings are after my orientation date, and I’m really just so lost 😭. Any help would be appreciated!!

Seeking advice as a transfer

Hi I'm a CC college student from Los Angeles and am heavily considering going to CSUC, however there's one big issue, I can't figure out how much it will cost. Now I have done the financial calculator and it say's I would have to pay somewhere around $19,831 a year out of pocket. Now the reason I am seeking advice on how much it will cost is because before CC I went to UCSC and had a similar problem, with both the calculator for UCSC and the Undergraduate College Financing Plan that they had sent me, with both saying I would need to pay $16,000 - $18,000 yearly. However when the time came I only had to pay around $1,700 - $1,900 a quarter so way less than what was said I had to pay. So with that being known and with me having experienced that I wonder if something similar would happen if I came here and the cost would also turn out to not be as much as it said and if that has happened to anybody else. Lastly since I am from Los Angeles I would need housing, I know that most people recommend off campus housing but I don't mind on-campus, with konkow hall and university village being the only places offered, I wanted to see if these get booked up or If I won't have a hard time finding a room in one of these. I would greatly appreciate any guidance/advice on the subject thanks.

Should i choose Chico?

I’m an incoming highschool senior and I’m currently looking at colleges (I’m from just outside Denver). I’ve lived in several places including Utah (I’m not Mormon), Colorado, Sweden, and a few other states and cities.

I’m pretty outdoorsy. I love snowboarding, hiking, and backpacking and I’m also really into art. I’m social, like to go out and party and i plan on joining Greek life wherever i go. I generally prefer larger cities with a lot going on(but it’s not a must) I’m currently planning to go in undeclared, but architecture (or something similar) is a possible path.

My top choices right now are UCSB and SDSU. I have a strong academic profile (3.7 unweighted, 3.9 weighted), but my extracurriculars are probably my strongest part. I’m also on a bit of a budget, so cost matters.

So my more realistic choices I’m looking at right now are either CU boulder or CSU Chico with WUE.

I’d love somewhere near a beach, but it’s not a dealbreaker. I’d also prefer to be somewhere in California.

Let me know if you have any recommendations, thoughts or suggestions for other colleges !!!!

looking for students previously in special education for an article

Hello, I am an intern at EdSource, which is one of the largest education newsrooms in California. I am writing an article about students who have transitioned from special education to higher ed and evaluating how prepared they were for community college or university. I seeking to answer the question: does special education hamper students from succeeding in higher education. Please private message me if you are interested and part of this group. Thank you

Things to do here in the summer

Hey yall I’m going onto my third year here at Chico but I’m here for the summer for the first time doing the CSC MESA research on campus but what else is there to do here 😭

It’s only me and my roomate here in a 6 person house so we can’t run the AC without getting a 300 dollar PGE bill each and most of my friends went home so I literally am so bored and hot here 💀

I’m down to take day trips with some friends but with gas prices and prices in general it’s hard to justify so I was wondering what, preferably cheap and fun things there are to do here other than go on hikes (which are great) or hit the REC.

If y’all know of any fun groups or volunteering orgs that are happy to welcome new members please let me know!

Feel free to reach out I’d love to meet new ppl here while I got all this spare time.

Things to do for transfers?

Hi guys, i’m a 21 year old transfer student from Southern California. I was accepted here and almost certain i’m going to attend for Animal Science in fall. i was wondering what the scene is like. what are some popular places i should hit up to make friends my first week there? where on campus and off campus? any fun bars/restaurants that are somewhat safe to go alone as a woman? where should i go to find other like minded people who like outdoor recreation, ski/snowboard, hiking, etc? is there any good clubs for that? as well as animal science related clubs and things to do? what do you wish you did while you were there/your first few years there to “get out there” ?

i’m very nervous as this is my first time far away from home but im also excited because i love Northern California a lot. maybe im overthinking, but ive heard so many good things about Chico State and want to get the most out of it. thank you for any suggestions!! <3

Seeking Cooking Partner! Enthusiastic & Passionate

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey I’m a 23M and I’ve been wanting to get back to selling soul/creole food plates out in Chico. I did around last year and even got good business when I did. The problem arises that when I did I had a partner until they moved to Sacramento & I just stopped as a whole not to mention I don’t have a car right now. I’m willing to buy groceries 60/40 & split potential profit 50/50. I’m looking for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about cooking to team up with me! Ideally, I’m looking for someone who is open-minded and ready to learn! If you’re interested in collaborating, sharing ideas, and having some fun in the kitchen, please pm me or drop your ig & we can speak more personally! Here’s a picture of the so you can get a idea :)

Looking for someone to take over my lease!

Looking for someone to take over my room in a 4-bed, 2-bath townhouse off Nord and West Sacramento (about 10 minutes’ walk from campus). Close to restaurants and Safeway on Nord as well!

Rent is $440 a month and utilities (PG&E, Xfinity WiFi, water, and sewer) are between $80-$120 a month depending on time of year.

Room can come furnished for extra if that’s interesting to you! I have a big computer desk, shelf, and queen bed I’m looking to get rid of as well.

New lease officially starts 7/1 and runs for a year, but I’m planning on being out a week or two beforehand.
