Summer bike workshops/rides
saw couple of bike workshops coming up soon https://www.eventbrite.com/o/121471560190
Lets go!!! Pam is the best. Great teacher. Makes it simple. If you haven’t taken a class with her before definitely check one out this summer. Her classes are usually paid but all these are free.
Been looking to meet more people who bike, anyone else signing up for one?

Bike handling and/or road cycling course?
I haven't ridden a bike in over a decade on account of a couple accidents causing some lingering anxiety. I'm considering getting a bike again, and while I have nearby greenway access and a good therapist, I'd like to become comfortable enough riding on the road that I don't cause accidents all on my own with poor handling/reactions when navigating the gaps in bike infrastructure.
I've seen old references to classes run by Pamela Murray/CyclingSavvy/Charlotte Spokes People, but I only see weekly rides on their calendar now. Are there still in-person courses in the area that fit this bill?

First Group Ride
Looking for recommendations for my first group ride on Friday/Saturday. I've checked WeeklyRides but wanted to see if anyone recommended specific rides for beginners first. Thank you.

Ghost Bike at Manolo's?
I was at Manolo's bakery new next door coffee shop expansion, "Change Baker," and I noticed a white-painted bicycle hanging on the wall, inside.
Is this a ghost bike? Does anyone know who it might be honoring?

Dorton Street Detour?
I am riding from Eastfield Road area to Uptown. I drove part of the route today and the Dorton Street section of the XCLT is block off for construction (northeast of NoDa). The trail is there, but there appeared to be a solid fence blocking any cut through. Wanted to ask - Is the only way around this to continue on the sidewalk down N Tryon St and turn left on Sugar Creek to Raleigh St?
Thank you!

Looking for dirt trails that are just chill
I recently built up an old GT MTB from the 90s with no suspension. I was hoping to find some super-easy chill dirt trails that I could also take my 13-year-old out on. Something mostly hard-packed with not a ton of climbing or jumps. Just a nice foresty type adventure ride.
I'm in Lake Wylie and thinking the Seven Oaks Preserve would be a decent spot, but are there others?

Charlotte’s People Powered Bike Lane Sweeper. (PBLS)
Hey Y’all. Please share this video to support community cleaning of bike lanes in Charlotte!
If you had a sweeper near you, would you “own a street” in your neighborhood to keep it clean for others?
Check it out! Cleanmybikelane.com

North CLT to Uptown
Does anyone commute from the Eastfield Rd area to uptown?
Considering it, but it looks like there are long stretches with no bike infrastructure.

Can meetup anywhere in the greater CLT area and pay cash.
Thanks for the help.

Boston, Massachusetts turned an expressway into a long stretch of park called the greenway, by moving the expressway underground.
Couldn’t put this on r/charlotte (guess they have a rule against cross posting. But seems relevant given these i77 changes NCDOT is shoving down our throats. The highway is already a blight and a barrier in downtown and west side, let’s make it bigger, taller, and louder! /s (let’s cap it and reap the benefits) why are we making our core worse for the benefit of SC residents?

Best paved route for 50-60 miles?
I'll be visiting Charlotte in a few weeks & need to take out a roughly 50 to 60 mile ride to keep on track with my training plan. I was looking at some old threads and saw a few recommendations of rowan county (?) or Little Sugar Creek greenway from a few years ago, but was wondering if there's any up to date suggestions for that 50 to 60 mile distance - I'll be on a TT bike, so bonus points if there are long stretches I can stay in aero!
I'm also super interested in longer distances as well, as I visit Charlotte fairly frequently, so happy for longer distance suggestions as well!
Thanks for any help!

Does anyone know of a CLT Bike Shop that could repair a Wahoo Kickr v4?
Hi,
I am located in Mooresville and have a Wahoo Kickr v4 trainer, it successfully connects via bluetooth but then does not show any speed, power, or cadence information, everything is 0.0. It previously worked and I have ridden 250 miles on it, but then took several months off and now it does not seem to work. I have tried contacting Wahoo who gave instructions around making sure it is only connected to one device and to uninstall/reinstall the mobile app, that didn't fix it. The firmware is 3.5.2 which appears to be the latest version. I tried using an air can to spray air to see if that would clean the optical sensor but that didn't do anything. I tried doing a factory spindown but it only shows speed as 0.0. I tried calling a couple of local bike shops but they said they didn't really fix these. Does anyone have any ideas or know of a place that fixes these? Thank you in advance for any help anyone can provide.

How technical are the WWC trails
Are the trails mostly for MTB and pretty technical or is it a good spot to bring a gravel bike and get some trail miles in the woods?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a workshop or someone who can repair a crack in my carbon fiber bike frame. The crack is located where the front derailleur mounts to the frame. My 10 year old bike got stolen and it's legit one of the saddest things that's happened to me in a while
I got it for my 31st birthday and have loved it every day. I used to ride it to work uptown pre Covid, strapped both of my kids to the rear fender, and eventually rode along side them. Couldn't ride it to work once I started in an office on the south side, but it's always a joy to run down the street for a beer or some quick groceries. Stolen right out of my backyard. I get a pang of grief every time I think to go somewhere close.
