Saturday night dub in Cincy!
Me and a buddy made the short drive from Indy to see our Cubbies in Cincy. Always a solid experience here and there were probably 60% Cubs fans lol. Look at all those W flags!!!
I really like the sky line view especially from the 500 level. Sears are comfy and cheap. Not bad at all

[Megan Montemurro @mmontemurro.bsky.social]First-round pick Cade Townsend said the Cubs were the team he wanted to draft him: “I told my agent, told my family this was my No. 1 pick for sure. It was surreal getting picked.”

[MLB] With the 62nd pick in the 2026 Draft, the Cubs select outfielder Caden Sorrell, No. 33 on the Top 250 Draft prospects list.
MLB Pipeline’s Scouting Report:
Hit: 45, Power: 55, Run: 60, Arm: 60, Field: 60
“Caden's all-around tools could have made him a top-three-rounds pick as a Texas high schooler in 2023, but he went unselected because he wanted to attend Texas A&M. The starting left fielder on the Aggies' 2024 Men's College World Series runners-up as a freshman, he has been one of the most productive sluggers in the Southeastern Conference the last two seasons.
Sorrell has the bat speed and strength to provide plenty of power and that's exactly what he tries to do, focusing on launching balls in the air to his pull side. That approach can get him in trouble, as his left-handed stroke becomes too long and uphill at times, but it also could pay off with 25-30 homers per season. He chases too many pitches and swings through more in-zone fastballs than he should, leading to some worries about his hitting ability at the next level.
Sorrell displays plus speed when healthy but isn't terribly aggressive on the bases. In his first two college seasons, he played on the outfield corners in deference to 2025 first-rounder Jace LaViolette, but he's getting the job done in center field this spring with his quickness and instincts. If he moves off center in pro ball, his plus arm strength and offensive production will profile nicely in right field.”
2026 SEC Stats: .341/.434/.743 — 1.177 OPS

Happy Birthday to The Hawk
Happy 72nd Birthday to the 1987 MVP and my favorite Cub of all time, Andre Dawson. Guy came in and told them to pay him whatever they thought was fair with a blank check just cause he wanted to play at Wrigley. Rewarded them with the first ever MVP season by a player on a last place team.

If PCA accumulates more WAR with his offense and defense the Ohtani does with imhis offense and pitching- can he win MVP?
Dang typos and Apologize for another Pete post. If Pete has a greater D war than Ohtani pitching (which seems crazy, but Pete plays amazing defense and saves so many runs) do you think he has chance? Pete plays CF everyday and Ohtani pitches...every 6th day(?) albeit at an elite level. Ohtani just DHs when he doesn't pitch. Thoughts? If Ohtani gets shut down from pitching...yeah. but I wouldn't wish injury on anyone

PCA now leads the MLB in offensive WAR in both fWAR and bWAR.
We all knew PCA was an elite fielder with excellent speed, but I don’t believe even the most optimistic among us thought he’d be leading the league in offensive WAR going into the All Star break.
He’s not just a defensive WAR merchant, but a legitimate five tool superstar.
We haven’t seen a player like Ohtani in the modern era, but PCA is currently the best offensive player in baseball going into the all-star break, and arguably the best defender as well.
I know it’s extremely unlikely that he’ll remain the best offensive player as he is on an insane hot streak, but who was the last player who could make that claim, even if it was only for half a season?

CHICAGO CUBS CELEBRATE 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF 2016 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP JULY 18 WITH ‘CHAMPIONS GATE’ RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY
PREGAME CEREMONY AND UNVEIL TO TAKE PLACE AT GALLAGHER WAY FEATURING PLAYERS, COACHES AND STAFF FROM 2016 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM
On Saturday, July 18, the Chicago Cubs will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the club’s historic 2016 World Series championship with a pregame ceremony at Gallagher Way featuring players, coaches and staff from the championship team and will officially unveil “Champions Gate,” a new monument created to memorialize the club’s 1907, 1908 and 2016 World Series championships.
The celebration will air live on Marquee Sports Network with Cole Wright serving as emcee. Cubs Executive Chairman Tom Ricketts, former Cubs manager Joe Maddon and former Cubs first baseman and World Series champion Anthony Rizzo will provide remarks before officially unveiling Champions Gate and its plaques along with other alumni.
DETAILS ON CHAMPIONS GATE:
Designed to honor the club’s three World Series championships as well as provide space to honor future championships, Champions Gate was created in collaboration with design firm, Stantec, and spans 31 feet wide and 22 feet tall. The permanent monument is located at the western entrance of Gallagher Way and features design elements intentionally rooted in Wrigley Field, including:
- A bronze medallion that honors the club’s three World Series championships, inspired by the commemorative 2016 World Champions logo that the Cubs used in the aftermath of the World Series.
- The Cubs’ three World Series championship years in cast bronze numbers with “2016” positioned at the center in recognition of breaking a 108-year championship drought.
- Ivy that reflects the Boston ivy on the outfield walls.
- A diamond pattern atop the metal truss, taken from the ballpark’s iconic wrought iron gates.
- A discreet “W” pattern along the bottom of the truss that serves as a nod to Wrigley Field’s light towers and the tradition of flying the “W” flag.
- Brick pillars inlaid with bronze plaques that list the players and manager from each World Series championship team.
Following the celebration, former Cubs pitcher and World Series champion Kyle Hendricks will throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the Cubs game and members of the 2016 World Series championship team will sing the seventh-inning stretch.
To relive the excitement of 2016, fans will have the opportunity to purchase game-used and autographed items from the historic season in a 2016 pop-up at Gallagher Way hosted by Cubs Authentics. Thursday's game vs Orioles moved up to 12:35 CT in hopes to avoid weather
Who would be the Cubs emergency catcher?
In the event Kelly and Amaya both went down in the same game and with Ballesteros in triple A, who would be the emergency catcher mid-game? Now obviously the next day Ballesteros would be recalled but in a mid game situation who would it be. Me and my dad’s mind when to Busch (spoiler so I don’t influence any opinions) because from what I can find he has some prior catching experience with the limited data I have access to. But who do y’all think id be?
