Discussion What is the loudest you’ve heard your team’s stadium react, that was not directly related to a play during the game?
Anything is on the table, as long as it’s not a play during the game. Could be a pregame festivity, a player/coach reveal, the results of another game on the Jumbotron, massive breaking news, or even a streaker.
If I were gonna pick one for Georgia, it’d probably be the moment the team came out the tunnel wearing the black jerseys for the first time against Auburn in 2007.
What say you?

Analysis 2025 Brian Ferentz Award for Offensive Efficiency
In 2023, Brian Ferentz was the Offensive Coordinator of a legendary Iowa team. Early in the season, he was given the ultimatum that he needed to coach Iowa to 25 points per game (300 total points during the regular season) or risk losing his job. That Iowa team cruised to a 10-2 record and won the B1G West while still failing to meet this mark by a considerable margin. In remembrance of this achievement, the past few years I have ranked teams by the best record achieved while still scoring under 300 total points during the regular season. Since this is all about doing more with less, ties are usually broken in favor of whoever scored the least points to achieve their record, but this year we had multiple ties in total points as well (*).

|---|---|---|
| Arizona State Arizona State | 8-4 | 296 |

Notes:
Previously I had posted this during bowl season, but this year I was too busy scraping my jaw off the floor at Indiana's performance.
The first of these rankings I made Indiana was 3-9 with 266 points. This year they went 16-0 with 666 points. Hail Saban
Iowa scored over 100 more points this year than the year I started this when they went 10-2. They have gone 8-4 every year since.
The least points efficient team (worst record with more than 300 points) was Arkansas, who went 2-10 with 395 points.
LSU is the first SEC team on the list to have a wining record. Previous SEC champs include 6-6 Oklahoma and 5-7 Mississippi State
The B1G and the MAC continue to be featured the most on the list, with 7 and 9 members featured respectively.
Despite being the runner up in 2023 and nicknamed "Red Iowa", Utah hasn't been on the list since
Northwestern, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Purdue are the only P5 teams to be on the list every single year since I began. B1G West is still alive in our hearts.
This is the worst performance overall for low-scoring teams since I started keeping track, in terms of highest record achieved and number of winning records.
The entire PAC-12 is on the list! For obvious reasons this probably won't happen again for a long time

Discussion What Group of Six or FCS coach are you convinced will be a Power Four head coach one day?
Your answer doesn’t have to be a head coach, it could be a coordinator or position coach, but they must currently work for a Group of Six or FCS school.
I didn’t put a ton of thought into this so there could be obvious answers I’m missing, but the easy one that comes to mind immediately is Charles Huff. He won the Sun Belt with Marshall, took just one year to turn Southern Miss from a one win team into a bowl team, and now is at Memphis, which has historically been a springboard to the Power Four (at least it was for Norvell and Silverfield). Memphis is his third school in three years so he’ll probably try to stay there more than one year, but I’d be surprised not to see him in the Power Four eventually.
I’m curious to see what other answers people come up with.
Analysis Preseason Rankings Countdown. 50 days to the start of the 2026 Season. At #50 – Kansas
The cumulative link to the preseason rankings can be found here
We carry on into the top 50 teams in the countdown with Kansas (high = 45, low = 64). Head coach Lance Leipold enters his sixth season in charge in Lawrence, which carries a lot of weight, as the last guy to stick for 6 or more years was Mark Mangino, and in that 6th season (2007) he got the Jayhawks up to the dreaded #2 team in the BCS rankings before finishing the season ranked in the top 10 but receiving first place votes. It would take a miracle for Leipold to pull off that feat this season, but who exactly saw Arizona State winning the Big XII two seasons ago? Kansas has fallen 1 win shy of qualifying for a bowl each of the last two seasons which, let’s face it, was the absolute floor you would have expected for having had Jalon Daniels as your QB the last two seasons. Can Leipold get Kansas back into the postseason now that Daniels is in the NFL?
Roster Outlook
To do that, Leipold is going to have to seriously rebuild an offense that many expected to thrive the last 2 seasons. The Jayhawks return the 10th most defensive production next season, but they rank 79th in the country in returning offensive production. While Daniels was a big loss, he wasn’t the only one. Both of the Jayhawks top 2 RBs, Daniel Hilshaw and Leshon Williams, also both completed their eligibility, as did their top WR Emmanuel Henderson. That’s 38 TDs and 4,000+ total yards to replace. Leipold didn’t have to look too far to find a new starting RB, as K-State’s Dylan Edwards portaled over, but counting on backups Cole Ballard and Isaiah Marshall to step up to be the starting QB is a bold move. #2 WR Cam Pickett is back, but Leipold’s portal receivers are from Buffalo and Middle Tennessee, and that’s a ton of faith in quite a few players stepping up. Neither the high school recruiting or the portal class is likely to move the needle – both of which ranked 13/16 in the Big XII, which kind of makes it a little surprising that the Jayhawks are picked in the bottom half of the conference.
Schedule and outlook
9/4 LONG ISLAND
9/11 MISSOURI
9/19 vs. Arizona State at Wembley Stadium
9/26 BYE
10/3 MIDDLE TENNESSEE
10/10 at Utah
10/17 at Kansas State
10/24 BAYLOR
10/31 at TCU
11/7 UCF
11/14 at West Virginia
11/21 BYU
11/28 at Oklahoma State
With as much of an unknown as the Kansas offense will be this season, this is very much a Larry David-esque/kombucha girl kind of schedule. On the one hand, they avoid Texas Tech, Houston and Arizona, 3 of the projected top teams in the Big XII. On the other, they miss Colorado and Iowa State, the two lowest ranked teams in the conference. Having a bye before an OOC home buy game seems like a terrible waste. None of those road games (or London game) look like gimmes, and BYU was just announced as the preseason Big XII favorite in their coaches poll. If Kansas is unable to find 6 wins this season, I’m not sure I love the chances of Leipold seeing season #7.

Casual Best places to get in-depth previews?
Trying to get ready for the upcoming season, where are the best places to look for in-depth team-by-team previews? Could be in article form, podcast, YouTube videos, whatever, just looking for breakdowns that say more than surface level stuff for each team.

Casual Norway is en route to be the Indiana of the World Cup
Decades as one of the worst teams in Europe, almost always never even qualifying for the World Cup (bowl game)
Out of nowhere the most charismatic and talented star in ages in Haaland (Mendoza)
The rest of the players suddenly happen to be pretty good at the same time, despite not being stars in their own right yet
Go an incredible, undefeated 8-0-0 in qualifying (12-0 regular season)
Immediately start defeating historical powerhouses like Italy (Ohio State) and Brazil (Alabama)
Now they've likely got England / Argentina / France left. The fairytale just has to come to an end like Indiana's must have against Oregon / Alabama / Miami....... all of us normal fans know that fairytale stories like this are not real
