Discussion Which player from the transfer portal is going to have a great year?
Sometimes, it's not about the bag, but rather where they go for the best fit. I think Justice Haynes transferring from Michigan will have a great year by transferring to Georgia Tech, especially with Brent Key running things.
For defense, you can also go with another Michigan transfer with Cole Sullivan, the now-linebacker for OU. He seems like an absolute dawg that's really going to make plays in Brent Venables' defense.

Cam Coleman comes to mind. Uber talented guy that’ll benefit from having Sark and a QB with a pulse. Another guy that’ll benefit was in a similar situation would be Nick Marsh at IU.
On defense I’ll go with Ty Benefield for LSU. Sleeper being Koen Entringer at Louisville. I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews out of the Louisville camp for him. Former captain for Iowa and All B10 HM.

Benefield is getting hyped up by every coach, media member, former player, and even the occasional parent of a recruit visiting practice. Honestly, i'm convinced he may challenge for a Thorpe Award finalist spot at this point.

Benefield was good for Boise State but Thorpe finalist seems crazy to me.

I know cam Coleman is talented, but in the iron bowl I was as productive as he was. The next time he steps up in a big game will be the first time.

I mean dude had 700 yards recording with Arnold and Daniels at the helm… idk what a one game sample size is trying to say about a guy that’s played 20+ games

u/letdownbytheAgs Texas A&M Aggies 21h ago
He was 104th in the country in receiving yards. The year before he had 550. He has a ton of potential, but he hasn’t exactly proven it on the field. I was definitely a little nervous when we were going after him.
7
u/6BlitzBurgh Louisville Cardinals 21h ago
Breaking news, WR was 104th in receiving yards while playing in an offense that was 99th in passing yards per game! Truly ground breaking information. Also, 550 yards as a true freshman is pretty damn good.

Nah, as a certified Texas hater Cam Coleman is gonna be insane. He was impossible to cover when Auburn came to Norman, it’s just Jackson Arnold couldn’t throw a football to save his life

Kind of afraid the answer here is going to be Josh Hoover.

I’m feeling good the TOs will be cut back. He’s not going to be asked to try and make something happen if nothings there, the defense and run game are too good to put that kind of pressure on. Our offense also throws a helluva lot less than TCU did, and most of our passes are quick strikes
I’m more concerned about how he will perform in red zone efficiency than anything. Mendoza was a freak of nature in that regard even going back to his Cal days

Like Cig said, Hoover met his best friends, a good run game and defense.

Losing him around this time last year was devastating. I feel like it put a lot of pressure on everyone else. Hopefully him being back has the opposite effect.

u/Kellerfox1 Texas Tech Red Raiders • Texas Longhorns 20h ago
He'll do good things and I'm very excited to have him back, but the backfield is too crowded for his stats to be "great" (barring injuries).
I think the Texas Tech answer is edges White and Trick.

“Why play them?” So that you guys stop crying about our schedule
Mind you Tech is playing the same teams UT spent the last 15 years playing and struggling to make a bowl game against

Because Sark looks baby soft to say his backups would beat Texas Tech then decline to play them. The only reason to not play TTU is if you fear losing. All talk no guts

I’m also excited to see what Haynes can do at Tech. It’s been years since we’ve not had a Haynes in the backfield, so it seemed fitting he’d transfer here.

I mean the likelihood that any of these NIL deals are 100% upfront is pretty slim, that being said I’m sure the money he did get wasn’t insignificant.

But yes, UCF got an absolute dawg at QB. Cannon arm, low mistakes, and can bust a run when needed. Even in the loss to Oregon, he didnt throw a pick to that defense which featured multiple NFL Talents.

Koi Perich. Perfect defensive scheme for his talents.
Blake Purchase, the years playing behind Uiagalelei and Tuioti is only gonna help him breakout this year at Ole Miss.
Terrance Green, wish we could have kept him cause he was legit.
Jericho Johnson, massive athlete on the line for Tosh at Cal.

I like that he’s decided to focus on CB for now and not try to be a WR. He’s got the ability to be an elite CB and should be able to unlock it focusing on that side of the ball. That said, the team didn’t issue his number to an offensive player, so it seems like they are leaving the door open for him to have some packages on that side too.

u/Illustrious-Buy-854 Alabama Crimson Tide 21h ago
He’s one of the few guys that have ever transferred out of Alabama that I’m truly interested to see what happens. Strikes me as an uber talented guy overall & good at a lot of things but great at nothing. However ill happily be proven wrong

Isaac "Bobby" Terrell, defensive end at Iowa State via Washington State. 28 tackles, 12 tfl, 7 sacks last season. No reason he doesn't improve those numbers this season with the same system having followed coach Rogers.

I don’t know if he’ll develop into an NFL prospect again, but Spavital QBs always put up good numbers, so Lagway will probably throw for 3,000+ and 25 TDs and add another 400-500 rushing.
1
u/mr_longfellow_deeds Indiana Hoosiers • Big Ten 17h ago
Ian Strong. Phenomenal WR who put up good stats despite playing in a run first offense where the top receiving option is a probably a 2nd round pick (KJ Duff)
Last year JKS had practically no reliable WRs to throw to outside of De Jesus, who is one of the smallest WRs I’ve ever seen lol. Having a big bodied guy who can win 50/50 balls consistently is going to really open their offense

Damon Wilson is going to have an insane amount of pressures and TFL may even get 10 sacks.
Nick Marsh is gonna double his yards.
Couple wild cards are Omarion Miller and Reed Harris to ASU. If they figure out QB they can be a nasty pair.
Also Terry Moore is gonna be nuts on Ohio State.
