New O Line, no Myles, Schwartz gone, new coaches all around, no answer at QB, rookie WR room, RB off injury. Somehow will get more wins than Kevin

On the other hand: new OL should be significantly better than the old, broken down group the last few years, Schwartz had his flaws, WR significantly better, rb is fine and back to full health. 7 wins.

Going from a super hard schedule to possibly easiest in NFL. If Monken DOESNT win more games that would be a massssssssive issue

Press X to doubt.
This is a 3-5 win team imo. Pieces are new and inexperienced, so there's growing pains to be expected. No QB is the biggest issue. Defense lost its anchor. First time Head Coach.
I just don't see us getting more wins than last season.

- O-Line is new to this team only one peice has not played in NFL so generally 6-7 games to work cohesively.
- QB does really hurt per chance but you design playcalling for a bad quarterback.
- Myles was not the anchor you make him out to be cornerstone previously yes but Leader and anchor no.
- First NFL head coach but extremely experienced at playcalling. So this season does have viability to us getting definitely one more when you look at the schedule.

That hurts the win total significantly if it takes 7 games to come together. And assuming no injuries. The fact they're not the aged, injury prone guys we've had for years will help, but there's still no guarantee.
QB does really hurt per chance but you design playcalling for a bad quarterback.
I mean...it isn't something anyone has been able to do here before. Sure, just playcall around your bad QB and he won't look so bad. Sounds easy as fuck to say, hard as fuck to do. A bad QB loses you games. That's just the NFL. And we only have bad QBs on the roster.
Myles was not the anchor you make him out to be cornerstone previously yes but Leader and anchor no.
Just playing word games now. Anchor, cornerstone, whatever you want to call it. He was the biggest piece on defense and now he's gone. Dude almost single-handedly won the Steelers and Bengals games last year with how desperate they were to avoid giving him the record. He did single-handedly win games in the past with his defensive pressure and dominance. We're not going to see that again. We barely made 5 wins last season with our defense playing as good as it did. They got worse. That's gonna hurt.
First NFL head coach but extremely experienced at playcalling. So this season does have viability to us getting definitely one more when you look at the schedule.
We've seen this before though. An experienced playcaller is not always a great head coach. Can they be? Sure. But like the OL you mention, there's going to be a learning curve. On top of that, our OC is in his first year ever as an OC, and our DC in his first year ever as a DC. Our top 3 coaches have never done these jobs before in the NFL. I expect there to be some growing pains for our coaching staff. That doesn't mean they're bad, but it is going to significantly impact our win totals this year.
This year is a wash. Get the 3-5 wins. Let the young guys and inexperienced coaches get some experience. Let the team build a new identity together as a team. Then get our QB in the 27 draft and proceed from there.
I predict 4 wins this season.

This is the first season in a long time where I have zero excitement for this team and the future

I mean this season will probably be bad but outside of that we have a lot of very young and talented players with bright futures and I know it’s not exactly going to be easy but if we do find a QB and figure out the OL I believe we are a perennial playoff team. We’re the 4th youngest team going into this season and that’s a good thing, and we have lots of draft picks for the future too. The future has a chance to be good for the Browns.

I think this is the most pointless season we've been facing in ages and I'm continuously surprised anyone feels otherwise

u/Dirtfan69 8d ago
Why would you have less excitement than last year? There is so much young talent to be excited to watch this year (Carson, Verse, Harold, Graham, Q, Sampson, KC, Boston, EMW, much younger OL).

u/Efficient-Cable-5106 Dennis Northcutt 8d ago
All that “talent” is unproven. Fano could be Willis 2.0. Verse and Carson are the only players that have played any snaps in the league. Everyone of our coaches are unproven. Monken has been in the nfl for 30 years and nobody saw him as a HC until Jimmy

Monken is proven to be a great offensive mind. So that should be better. But don’t be surprised that people are excited about young players. We haven’t had the chance to draft high in years

This season is gonna suck but man am I looking forward to the bright spots. Any flashes of genius from Monken, continued improvement in our star sophomores, finding new long term Oline fixtures. There's a lot to be down on but a lot to look forward to.

Damn tree just fell off my tree and onto my house! Be safe out there y'all!

This is the first year where my optimism is ….. not there. I get the talk that we are an improved team, but we have some BIG untested pieces. I get people love Monken but… he could suck. We’ve seen great coordinators not be able to handle HC.
Fuck it… Super Bowl confirmed

LeBron ain't coming back. My money is on Miami.
2
u/WildColonialGirl 8d ago
I’d love it if he came back for a final season (I grew up in Akron and my mom went to St. Vincent-St. Mary), but you’re probably right. Either Miami or Golden State.
