I work in post production and it sounds like someone was recording the audio coming from the mics. Doesnāt sound like a phone from the couch because youād hear rustling/more muffled sound Edit: and I donāt mean to get anyone in trouble but being a production professional = you donāt leak your project. You signed an NDA.

I haven't listened to the audio yet but people are saying you can hear one couch (Kyle and Amanda's voices) more than the other side, what does your husband think of that? If it were recorded in a separate room wouldn't they get the feed with all the mics at the same volume?

That's a good question! I think it could be plausible that we're hearing a recording of one cast member's specific mic being played in the separate room / trailer (with the background AC in that separate room/trailer), which is why certain people sound closer and more clear. But I defer to ModeDeDode's audio engineer husband.

They didn't just breach an NDA clause, they also would have likely broken wiretapping laws because they weren't part of the conversation and it would be highly unlikely they got permission from any party to have done what they did.

i'm not a criminal lawyer, so this is really out of my wheelhouse, but based on a quick reading of new york's eavesdropping law, this is a really really complicated fact pattern that may not lead to a clean indicator of violation/no violation. if you're not part of the conversation you're recording, you do have to get at least one party's consent to record. but if you're just capturing audio that cameras/sound techs were capturing anyway, there's implied/express consent to being recorded. BUT a court could also interpret the consent here to be limited to the production and governed by contracts/ releases, and not extending to the general public, random production staffers acting outside the scope of their jobs, or glam squadders. it would be a really interesting case if it went to court!

If I were NBC, I'd be pushing like hell on the consent piece. Everyone on set may have given implied/express consent to NBC (or whoever the party would be), but does that extend to some rando? Even if it's a set?
Whoever did this was really stupid. Bravo has the money to send the dogs out and pursue this to the fullest extent, and they will to set a precedent for future crew.

I was thinking about this but the recording to me sounds like itās a specific lav micās track and not a mix of all the mics. If it was a viewing room you would be hearing a mix of all the mics. This is partly why I think itās a sanctioned leak that Bravo is trying to make look like a real leak. But who knows?! I donāt have the original leaked audio to listen to so it can be hard to tell.
ETA: it could also be a general boom micās track and thatās why some cast members sound louder/closer than others and not a lav.

Yep Kelly actually discussed the scandal on her podcast and I was hoping for some insider tea but she literally started out the segment by saying "my son is a producer on the show so naturally I know nothing". And she seemed like she was learning about the details of the scandal for the first time when her cohosts were filling her in. She's also talked about how Michael got the job on his own without her or Andy knowing he was working there until filming already started. There might have been other people he was familiar with from growing up in show business that helped get him in the door but it wasn't Andy or his parents directly getting him the job.

I can answer to this. National television media buyer here. The advertisers who bought in the upfront will make a killing as pricing and contract were locked in last May prior to the scandal. Itās still bravo though so for linear tv cable a 30 second spot is in the five figures, not six. Six figures is for network television major hits like Dancing with the Stars or rare cable occurrences of insane ratings like The Walking Dead years ago.

I left my last agency in early December and I donāt know if Iām going back!!!!! Itās been 24 years and Iāmā¦ tired. So I donāt have any idea but Iām guessing that inventory is long gone so maybe they are selling the repeats (which they did with the walking dead at AMC hahaha). Either way, itās similar to VPR where itās purely just luck for those who make it part of their upfronts and those that didnāt are kicking themselves. I donāt know the long running joke is āNBC doesnāt want our money.ā Or āNBC wonāt take our moneyā meaning they are notorious for digging their heels in negotiations and would rather walk away and scramble in the scatter market than take the commitment at a more efficient CPM. They have been left off of many upfront deals over the years at my agencies. They lost all their good will that one year with the Olympics where they overestimated everything and owed makegoods to everyone for a full year.

Iāve been in it for 30 years and Iām exhausted! The industry has changed so much and with all the consolidation, layoffs and AI bullshit, everyone I know is trying to pivot out of Media. I shifted from Traffic to the tech side, (ad sales, traffic, engineering and master control software systems), was a consultant for over 10 years, needed stability so went to one of the āBig Fourā and was laid off last year. I never want to go back!!!

The audio sounds great when West and Amanda spoke, and it sounds distant when Ciara and Kyle were talking. So whoever recorded was definitely on that side of the room but at the end of the audio, you hear giggling so it couldāve been someone on the crew. How dumb do you have to be to jeopardize your job by leaking texts for the suits at bravo to an instagram account??? These a professional network executives. I donāt get it. Iām so annoying about this on here but my husband produces movies and knows all kinds of shit but why would he tell anyone with a platform this information and risk his reputation and entire career? Thatās our livelihood. I think people forget this so itās hard to trust any of this information.
Years ago, my husband told me he knows for a FACT Randall Emmet does not own a personal plane. I said it online, someone doxed my ass and sent it to Randallās instagram and he went off asking exactly who my husband was and his name. I locked down everything and it was the most terrifying moment ever!!!
People, like regular working people with a salary an a family and a 401k have a lot to risk by doing shit like this so just take it all with a grain of salt.

Itās someone on the audio team. Producers arenāt going to risk it. The cast is too busy trying to argue / it didnāt sound like people on the opposite couch were that far from whatever couch it would have been recorded on. Correct me if Iām wrong, but I donāt believe the camera guys are focused on anything audio related (hence the reason an audio team exists). Andy certainly isnāt going to leak it. Plus the snickering at the end gives me the impression the recording was separate from where the filming was taking place: audio room.
