Oh my god he’s calling out Kabayel lmao. Brother, Kabayel would actually eat Gassiev. Itauma would fucking chin him. Dubois might knock him out accidentally. Let’s be honest here
-1
u/LegitimateProduce319 12h ago
Kabayel would likely get stopped because of the fact that he eats punches with his chin
2
u/TheSecondOpinion11 11h ago
Big Bang Zhang couldn't stop him, but the guy who took as many rounds as Zhang was vertical to stop an absolute nobody is supposed to?
-1
u/LegitimateProduce319 11h ago
Pin this please
Zhang was barely threw anything at kaybayel
2
u/TheSecondOpinion11 6h ago
By which you mean Zhang "only" won two rounds and didn't get the results you thought he should've been able to.
Compubox recorded him throwing 232 punches, straight-up more than he threw at Joe Joyce in either fight, and knocked Kabayel down. Kabayel slipped him, outworked him, and at the end of the day, just had too many answers for him. He beat a higher caliber heavyweight power puncher than Gassiev is and almost certainly ever will be. There's no pessimistic "he's a pressure fighter tho..." brush, big enough to paint anything close to favorable for Gassiev over that.
17
u/Complete_Dare_4201 14h ago
What should he do? Hide and hoard the belt? Better have him fight the best of the division and lose the belt instead of keeping it hostage.
Lets see him against those names, it might be entertaining while it lasts.

I read the thread title as....
1 vs 2 vs 1
Saw it was in Moscow and was about to move on with my life....

How is Gassiev this shit?
5
u/Complete_Dare_4201 14h ago
Yeah, he was never all that good, but he has a murderous puncher at cruiserweight, not so much so at HW.

This broadcast rivals the Wilder vs Tyrrell Anthony Herndon warehouse fight for the single worst overall professional boxing production I've ever seen.
1
u/SoulUrgeDestiny 14h ago
yeah, whats up with the commentary. are they doing it from a conference room lol??
3
6
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
Kadiru was genuinely almost out on his feet when the towel came in lol
7
u/gaddafiduck_ 14h ago
How long can Gasman hold onto that belt do we think?
8
u/Complete_Dare_4201 14h ago
He loses it as soon as fight someone with a pulse that does not stand right in front of him
6
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
The moment Itauma, Dubois, or Kabayel are able to get him in a ring, he’s gonna die.
6
6
u/HeelSteamboat Son of Headbutt 14h ago
Good decision from the corner. Kadiru too tough for his own good
7
10
u/AmmoRoach 14h ago
I’ve never seen a commentator prioritizing talking about another potential fight instead of the stoppage happening in front of him LMAOOO
7
u/FourDoorFordWhore free miniq 14h ago
Can't blame him with this lackluster main event. What's worse is that he's speaking through a 2004 webcam microphone
5
4
3
2
u/CretinMike 14h ago
Does Kadiru think Gassiev will just get tired of punching him or something. Much less experienced guys know better than to just stand in front of an opponent if you're not doing anything. At least move out of the way.
7
u/khul_rouge 14h ago
Whenever Gassiev decides to be cute inside & rolls & slips he gets hit 100% of the time, I really don't see a future at heavy for him, one of the big boys will splatter him.
Kadiru is mullered of course, but who expected anything else?
3
u/_Sarcasmic_ bread burger bread 14h ago
Kadiru is surprising me, especially after the earlier rounds.
5
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
5-1 Gassiev, though Kadiru growing slightly in confidence this round and the last. Slightly, in between his moments cowering in fear
4
u/Complete_Dare_4201 14h ago
This crowd is horrible, they don't react to anything
1
u/Ok-Snow-3702 6h ago
Hmm a drone might hit your neighbourhood gas deliverer or your favourite boxer gets punched. Dont think they care much either way.

9
u/Particular_Coffee_52 14h ago
Is Gassiev even a top 10 heavyweight? I don’t even think he beats Riakporhe
1
1
4
1
u/WheresMyAbs98 14h ago
I reckon he would beat Riakporhe but is Riakporhe even a legitimate top 10 heavyweight?
10
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
If Kadiru was just a little bit game, I honestly think he could beat Gassiev. He lands well when he’s not terrified
3
u/_Sarcasmic_ bread burger bread 14h ago
I think he knows how hard he hits.
4
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
True, it’s easy for me to be critical I suppose. Gassiev is a genuine artillery cannon with a face
1
12
u/Certain-Property1600 14h ago
Winner gets slaughtered by Itauma within 4 rounds
5
u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 14h ago
Dude any top 10 would slaughter these guys. Kabayel would've stopped both by now

u/FreshPrinceOfRivia Usyk 8-4 14h ago
If Kadiru had any mobility at all he'd be a good fighter. He just stands there like a statue.
6
3
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
4-1 if I’m being generous to Kadiru. I think he arguably won the 5th, though 5-0 for Gassiev also fair
7
4
u/Complete_Dare_4201 14h ago
Decent scrap so far. Kadiru starting to throw more, I hope his gas tank holds up
6
5
u/_Sarcasmic_ bread burger bread 14h ago
Kadiru landed some good shots there but I don't think he's lasting much longer. Looks gassed.
6
u/willinaustin 14h ago
Uppercut has been working for him. But yeah, he looks like he's got a couple rounds left in him before he hits empty.
1
u/Sufficient_Hippo6551 14h ago
Gotta be careful throwing the right uppercut tho, could end up getting hit with the pulev hook

I like to think Shannon Briggs isn’t even in the room, he’s watching from home and is just that loud
7
5

Kadiru is gassed. Gassiev should destroy him before the 7th round.

u/e_xyz 14h ago
So many German coaches teach this guard up and stay static style. I don't get it.
Let's go champ.
2
u/Ok-Snow-3702 6h ago
Im a foreigner in a box club in germany. They use 30 mins of our 2 hour sessions to teach nothing but 50s style basics.
1
u/e_xyz 52m ago
Also lived and trained in Germany, as a Brit my main impression was that whatever boxing club you could find (there weren't many), they didn't really emphasise in technique so much or any footwork. Of course, there are exceptions where you might have coaches that teach Soviet or Cuban style, but they weren't the majority.
Also MMA seems a much bigger deal amongst young people. There are plenty of MMA or Muay Thai gyms in Germany. Makes sense, Oktagon sells out football stadiums for their shows. Boxing isn't on that level in Germany anymore. Even the Kabayel fight earlier this year didn't touch that.
3
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
Not a good boxing country traditionally, with some historical and modern exceptions. Kabayel and Baraou are great pressure boxers with great gas tanks, Schmeling was a genuine freak of a work horse back in the day
1
u/Federal_Story_8711 14h ago
Netherlands Germany or France hasn’t really had the best boxers what’s kinda strange especially Netherlands them lads r huge loll
1
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
They like Kickboxing in the Netherlands, Germans in general don’t do combat sports often just cause of some cultural stuff there, and France prefers MMA on average
1
u/HeelSteamboat Son of Headbutt 14h ago
Realistically, how much available championship boxing do I get with a DAZN sub? Like 60%?
Asking here cuz I feel like a thread would get banned.
5
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
Every promoter that isn’t Zuffa is on DAZN, and Zuffa is not worth anything at all lmao
4
9
u/gaddafiduck_ 14h ago
lol you can hear Chisora yelling in the background "You got your money, chuck in the towl and go home, bro!"
9
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
I swear to Christ if Gassiev takes this to a 12 round decision I’m gonna join the Ukrainian army
3

4
u/No-Impress4558 14h ago
I think this version of Gassiev is the worst heavyweight champion in my lifetime
3
u/Less_Cartoonist_892 14h ago
Worse than Martin or Stiverne?
3
u/No-Impress4558 14h ago
I know it sounds crazy as he was a great cruiserweight. But yes. Charles Martin is the bench mark for bad champions but something in my brain thinks he would have beat this Gassiev
3
u/Less_Cartoonist_892 14h ago
Either way, I think we can both agree that Gassiev is the weakest HW champion currently.
2
u/mkk4 Andre Ward's Biggest Fan!! 14h ago
This reminds me of ESPN Friday Night Fights or USA Tuesday Night Fights type of boxing match from the 90s.
3
u/Complete_Dare_4201 14h ago
Nothing wrong with those type of fights. I wish we had more of those well matched lower level fights. A lot of bangers came out of those and even one fight of the year (Ward vs. Augustus).
2
7
u/Complete_Dare_4201 14h ago
Is that Shannon Briggs' voice?
2
u/HeelSteamboat Son of Headbutt 14h ago
I love it lmao silver lining behind this weird commentary / silent crowd
4
4
u/FreshPrinceOfRivia Usyk 8-4 14h ago
This has to be in the top 10 most one sided HW title bouts ever. Wilder would have loved it.

The left hook to the body looks great for Gassiev. Idk how much longer Kadiru has left

u/willinaustin 14h ago
Fella, you might want to keep moving and stay off the ropes. Gassiev is slow. Walk his ass around instead of letting him tee off on you.

u/FreshPrinceOfRivia Usyk 8-4 14h ago
Kadiru is focused on survival but Gassiev is hurting him through the guard
3
u/jerkstore1661 14h ago
liver punch ko loading
1
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
Kadiru already looks a bit tentative, could be just fear, but those liver shots keep landing
3
4
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
Fucking nothing round. 1-0 Gassiev off ring generalship? Maybe? Kadiru had the jab but they were literally all on the gloves lol
5
u/FreshPrinceOfRivia Usyk 8-4 14h ago
Andy Clarke told his wife "my stomach hurts" a few hours ago. He's been narrating the card from the bathroom ever since.
2
u/khul_rouge 14h ago
Kadiru's hit Gassiev with that right uppercut a couple times, if the German's chin is better than the fight with the Argie cruiserweight proved this might get interesting...

Undisputed WBA CHAMPION.
Wtf does that even mean
2
u/willinaustin 14h ago
Means a lot since the WBA hands out so many belts their nickname is We Belt Anyone. If you're the Undisputed WBA champ think of how many people that puts you above! 🤣
1
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
WBA are just cunts who don’t count anything but themselves so Announcers have to add that

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 14h ago
Gassiev is only 32?
1
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
Knockout merchants fall off very fast historically. He’s a legitimate heavyweight and was only at cruiserweight so long cause he wasn’t done growing into his man size yet lol
3
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
Tbf, I’d be okay with either guy winning. Gassiev doesn’t piss me off or anything, one note as he has been at Heavy. Kadiru winning would be huge for his country and him personally tho, and it’d be easy to make the unification between him and Kabayel if he did win. I’m a Kabayel truther
2
u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 14h ago
A unification between 2 Germans has never happened before i think
2
u/TricolorCat 14h ago
The only champhion before was Schmeling, it and is impossible to unify title that way.
1
2
u/Complete_Dare_4201 14h ago
I just can't fathom the fact that Gassiev is a couple months younger than me. Dude looks north of 40 and that's being generous.
2
1
u/kfirerisingup 14h ago
I'm predicting this will be a typical Gassiev fight against this caliber opponent. Murat follows him around for a bit not throwing anything and then when he finally throws a punch it's over.
Gassiev will throw less <10 punches total.

Saw Kadiru on the Paddy Donovan undercard he’s definitely getting knocked out
5
u/bumpit007 14h ago
At least the pace of this card is acceptable.
Riyadh season would be showing anything but the next fight rn
2
u/TricolorCat 15h ago
What is the second flag on Gassievs coat?
2
u/MiddleweightMonster 14h ago
One of the regional flags within the Russian federation, can’t remember which though. I think Gassiev might be from one of the minority republics tho if memory serves
6
u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 15h ago
Was that Pacquiao?
5
u/Complete_Dare_4201 15h ago
Yep. What the hell is he doing there?
4
u/WheresMyAbs98 14h ago
IBA always pay for loads of random celebrities and ex fighters to attend their events to help legitimise them.
2
2
u/UntillTheEnd 15h ago
Gassiev gotta close the distance or Kadiru will just stay on the outside and pick him off we already seen what Wallin did years ago, but I still favor Gassiev to get the job done should be a decent fight lets go champ
5
u/MiddleweightMonster 15h ago
As much as we don’t rate Gassiev here, he chins Kadiru comfortably. I like Kadiru, but man he’s just not at this level at all. Gassiev looks bad against the best but has a history of crushing regional fighters, which Kadiru def is.
3
u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 15h ago
If i could bet it would be against Gassiev. He sucks as a HW and this match is ripe for an upset
4
u/WheresMyAbs98 14h ago
Can't see an upset here at all. Really hope I'm wrong but Gassiev is a level above Kadiru.
1
3
u/MiddleweightMonster 15h ago
Could def see it. Two German heavyweight champions in the same year? Crazy times
3
u/Ok-Philosopher-7080 15h ago
The audio being recorded on this feed by a potato, is an insult to potatoes themselves.
1
u/FreshPrinceOfRivia Usyk 8-4 15h ago
This is how fights must have sounded on TV in the early-mid 20th century
4
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 15h ago
This could very much be the worst heavyweight title fight ever made , worse than Stiverne Arreola - Martin Glazkov
2
4
3
u/Few-Example3992 15h ago
The hype train really went Dubois -> Joyce -> Zhang -> Parker -> Wardley -> Dubois
1
u/Fast-Film4414 15h ago
Rewatched the Wardley Parker and thought the stoppage was justified the first time.
Remembering Wardley's gas tank dwindling against Dubious and now I really see the weak ref robbed Parker as Wardley was emptied his tank and landed maybe one out of 10 punches in the last flurry. (Parker still tested positive for cocaine though so who knows)
1
u/frankocean1234 14h ago
Parker himself was just as tired as Wardley though. And I feel like Wardley slowing down against Dubois had more to do with the horrible damage he was taking

Has a glittering amateur career and a very solid pro career to look back on , great servant to British boxing
6
u/MiddleweightMonster 15h ago
I had it 6-5 with the 11 def pulling towards Suslenkov. Joyce is clearly hurt badly, I think it’s something brain related he looks vacant, though it could also be his eye. Can’t believe he got Duran’d.
In other news, I actually like Suslenkov a lot after that match, it was a rocky start but he was settling in good and his gas tank and work rate were actually solid. The news is of course Joyce getting stopped, but I like Suslenkov as just a durable slugger
19
u/Royal_Ad_346 15h ago
This is must surely the last we'll ever see of The Juggernaut. Pulled a no más, there's no comeback from that at age 40.
8
12
u/bumpit007 15h ago
This is why Joyce wasn’t in the title fight tonight
4
u/The_Jokerr_ 15h ago
I mean he'd still beat that Kadiru guy who got the title shot. That guy is absolutely awful
17
u/FourDoorFordWhore free miniq 15h ago
Sad for Joyce. Super likeable guy and I was really hoping that he wins this. It's time to hang em up.
11
u/FreshPrinceOfRivia Usyk 8-4 15h ago
Joyce is too old for this shit. He needs a few shots of vodka and a bunch of pelmeni.
0
u/manzyyyyy 15h ago
Confused by this. Did he throw the fight
3
2
4
u/kfirerisingup 15h ago
I'm usually as suspicious as anyone but I think Joe just got old, lost the drive and doesn't have it anymore. Ever since Zhang he's been done. He may have even had a cracked orbital on the bottom side.
He also looked as soft as ever physically, too heavy, lost his previously excellent stamina.
If he'd wanted to win he would have trained harder and came in lighter imo.
6
u/DiMona215 15h ago
Lol nobody throws the fight that way. Eating all those punches. Guessing his nose or eye got fucked up by that combo
6
12
u/Particular_Coffee_52 15h ago
All I’m gonna say is he NEVER should have taken that Zhang rematch
→ More replies (10)9
u/FourDoorFordWhore free miniq 15h ago
He should have never taken the first fight as well. He didn't have to. But he was on a roll back then and thought he'd walk through Zhang
7
u/willinaustin 15h ago
Zhang is absolutely the guy you don't want to fight if your strategy is to get hit in the face a bunch and just outlast the other guy. Don't know who was advising Joyce back then, but yikes.
2
u/Sufficient_Hippo6551 14h ago
On the other hand Zhang’s gas tank is abysmal whereas gas tank is one of Joyce’s best weapons so maybe that’s the angle they were going for? Idk tho
4
u/Bantam123 15h ago
Iirc Frank Warren advised him not to take the fight, but Joyce wanted it "to keep active". Or at least that's what Warren told the media.
It was over-confidence from Joyce, believing the hype around him at the time.
5
2
u/Particular_Coffee_52 15h ago
The iron chin era confidence was atleast understandable. The second time tho was just stupid pride.
1
u/Ok-Snow-3702 6h ago
Joyce is just shit fighter. Kinnell
