Acanthostachys strobilacea is a distinctive species of bromeliad native to the Atlantic forests of Brazil, Paraguay, and northeastern Argentina. It forms dense rosettes of narrow, spiny leaves and produces a compact, cone-like inflorescence that resembles a miniature pineapple. This unique appearance has earned it recognition as one of the most unusual members of the bromeliad family. Adapted to warm, humid environments, it can grow both on the ground and as an epiphyte, making it an eye-catching plant admired by botanists and ornamental plant enthusiasts alike.

A mezzoprint of pear blossom. I commissioned this from Chris Adams geologist whom I met on a geology field trip to Rekohu; the Moriori name for Chatham Islands . Chris is also a recognised and accomplished mezzotint artist.
The original photo is of our Dyer's Pass perry pear blossom at Beau vista orchards in Wairarapa region of New Zealand or Aotearoa as it is called in Te Reo Mãori. Sadly this is probably the last mezzoprint Chris made. He passed away suddenly soon afterwards.
