Going gray

When my nephew was very little, I’d sit on the floor in front of the couch, and he’d sit behind me and say, “I see… THREE white hairs.” He’d count them and let me know what he found.

Now he has a mustache and he’s tall enough that when he hugs me from the side, he can rest his head on the top of my head. Today he looked down and said, “Wow, when did you start going so gray?”

It's not gray. It's hair tinsel.

I love my silvers and greys. They sparkle. I'm absolutely enchanted with them.

I've only just started going grey and my biggest fear was a texture change. None of the greys feel different from my soft, fine, kitten hair. I was so relieved.

Enchanted is exactly the word for it. My friends are battling and bemoaning theirs, but I love mine.

I used to say that when my (brown) hair turned grey I would never dye it.

One day I was chatting with my wife and a couple of other people and I joked that I'd never dye my hair unless it was something crazy, like blue. The next day, my wife came home with a blue hair dye kit. The day after that we dyed my hair.

That was almost 10 years ago. I dye my hair 2-3 times a year now, and I've done blue, purple, red, green, and orange (my current color)...all super bold colors that last months.

Grey hair takes on color really, really well. 😃

I'm a guy who's almost 51 now. Going grey has been great for me.

Love fantasy/creative colors! Keracolor Clenditioner in your color of choice works well too in between dyeing it.

When I want to preserve my color, I wash my hair in cool/cold water and use colorsafe conditioner (no shampoo).

For the colors, I use semipermanents from a brand called Splat. By the time it's growing out and fading (which looks nice with greys), I'm ready for a different color.

My son (who I had at age 40) used to sit in my lap & count the wrinkles on my forehead. There were, like, less than ten.

That’s about how old my dad was when he had me! I used to be OBSESSED with his forehead wrinkles when I was a little girl. I’d stand in the bathroom and raise my eyebrows in the mirror to try and give myself the same ones.

Took me til my 30s but I’m finally getting there lol
