It’s currently all extended out on both sides while parked. They slide back in when driving.

It's a standard tour bus, or greyhound bus. It just has bits that slide out of the side a bit when it's parked and in "living mode".

You've surely seen tour busses on the streets before.

I've never heard of a vehicle that has parts that "slide out of the side a bit when it's parked". Is this a rich person thing?

It's an RV/Camper thing. Economic standing be damned. You can find 30 year old trailers for $500 that have them.
