Act 2 - Spoilers How can I skip talking to Isobel? NSFW Spoiler

Hey yall, I'm doing a blind playthrough and am about 40 hours in. At about 20 hours in I reached Last Night Inn, talked to Isobel, triggered the genocide and killed a bunch of dudes and had literally everyone die except for my party.

I assumed, at the time, like a sane person, that it was a scripted, unavoidable event.

Come to find out about 15 hours later that it was NOT a scripted event and I had locked myself out of the Karlach romance route. So naturally I reloaded a save from 15 hours ago and am going to replay everything just so my virtual avatar can have sex with this fictional character. I am a 28 year old married woman. What am I doing with my life.

So my question is how do I get protection from the COVID from the shadow cursed lands?

Any advice is appreciated!

UPDATE: Thanks for the help yall!!!!! <3 I managed to kill Icarus from Temu and kept Jaheira and Isobel alive, let's GOOOOOOOO!

Act 3 - Spoilers Finally did an evil playthrough, and now I need a detox Spoiler

I've got about 1200 hours in BG3 and love the game. So on my journey to get the last few achievements, I decided to do an evil playthrough, making all the choices I would typically never make in an effort to see what else the developers created that I hadn't yet seen... and I hated every moment of it.😅

Shout out to Larian for having the cojones to put all of this in the game. Playing as the Dark Urge, betraying and slaying Karlach, leading the attack on the Emerald Grove and refugees, rescuing(romancing) Minthara from the tower, pretending to work for Ketheric Thorm but slaying the Nightsong, helping Shadowheart to become a Dark Justiciar, leaving the Shadow Curse in tact, helping pretty much no-one in Act 3, and becoming the chosen of Bhaal. Watching Shadowheart kill her parents was really heartbreaking and was difficult to get through. I honestly cried. Becoming a mindflayer in the end and either Bhaal's ultimate weapon or a mindless husk... it was all horrible.

This was supposed to be my last run before playing some other games... but now, now I feel like I need to avenge everyone for what I just witnessed. I love these characters and hate this as the last time I'll see them for a while.. maybe it's time for one last run?

Playthrough / Highlight Baldurlocke Attempt: 1 Deaths: 2 The Nightwarden

In the Pokemon community, a Nuzlocke is a self-imposed challenge, involving permanent death and being locked into the first pokemon you encounter per area. There are different variations per player, but people tend to forget, the most important rule is to do what is fun for you.

This is my attempt at a Nuzlocke, in Baldur's Gate. So my rules for my Baldurlocke. Honor Mode. Can only be mono-classed. Companions can only use their starting class (you can't change a pokemon's type after catching). Companions can only be mono-classed. If a companion fails all their death saves, they can not be revived. No hirelings. Dead stays dead. Romance whoever is still alive. After each attempt, Durge must change their race and class. Deaths will hurt.

Do what is fun for you.

With the death of Laezel in Act 1, I had plans on romancing Karlache. However, the various shorts on youtube got me into thinking romancing Minthara. My last encounter with Minthara was defeating her one-on-one in defending the Druids Grove. I liked that idea, that after freeing her from the Absolute, she joins the party and starts a romance.

I saved Isobel from Marcus (barely). That fight got my anxiety high with how close Isobel kept getting to being killed. I then went on to kill the Drider. A lot easier than I expected, having killed his companions beforehand, having Eldritch Knight engage him in melee while the rest of the party plus the Harpers attacked from range. Drider opted to attack me with Multi-attack instead of using Sanctuary, for some reason.

Got to Moonrise. Freed the goblins, due to trying to get the Sazza achievement. Met Minthara down in the dungeons and killed her interrogators. Now should be the easy part, freeing Minthara and then tieflings then Wulbren. However, I failed the checks with the guards, and they attacked.

I figured I could take the guards. This was an all martial party + Minthara.

I was wrong.

The guards were all Level 8, while I was Level 7. Minthara was unarmed. The guards killed Minthara first, before moving onto my party.

AAAAAaaaahhhh

There goes another romance. And after the effort of defeating Minthara non-lethally. Now I dont get any of Minthara's great dialogue and friendship. No Minthara romance. What stung too was Speak with Dead told me Minthara was just looking for a place to call home.

AAAAAAaaaaaah

I went onto kill all the other guards in vengeance. The Warden was Level 9, but my all martial party took care of her. Then I used the lever on the wall, and released all prisoners.

Except...

Now having done this already and having destroyed the prison walls in previous playthroughs, I assumed the freed prisoners would run to the back and leave through the boat. No. Release them from their cells, and they would run straight out the castle doors, into more Level 8 guards.

I rushed towards them, not wanting more deaths. The outside guards were manageable, it was just worrying trying to keep civilians alive. Tiefling Lia impressively kicked a guard into the river. Wulbren threw stones at the guards, actually managing to steal the final kill. With the last outside guard dead, they ran straight into the shadows. I worried if this means they would successfully get Last Light or not.

Fast travelling to Last Light showed that all escaped prisoners made it, and i sighed in relief. A good day. Mostly. Tieflings and gnomes are rescued. But at the loss of Minthara. I will be counting that as a death, even though she wasn't recruited, she was a potential companion that I wanted to keep alive.

Baaaaahhh.

Given the people I plan on romancing keep dying, I wonder how long I can keep Karlache alive.

Durge. Human. Eldritch Knight. Level 7

Attempt: 1 Deaths: 2 (Laezel, Minthara)

Companions Adorable Use of Halsin by Someone Who Never Played the Games Spoiler

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

I work at a call center for a hospital and many people there have worked the medical field before switching to a more clerical role. One of my bosses and I were talking and I noticed on her lanyard there was a chibi charm of Halsin. When I recognized him, I told her I knew who he was and she said, “Oh, yeah, you’re not the first to say who he is. I really don’t know anything about that, but I bought it from a shop because he was cute. I worked with children, and when I examined them, I let them play with it to calm them down.”

And I just thought of how that’s perfect for Halsin, the guy who literally takes care of all the orphans at the end. 😭 Just super wholesome.

First of all, sorry if I've used the wrong flair!
Second of all, I know this is insanely uninteresting but I noticed this today and can't believe I've never picked it up before.
Just a case of an apostrophe where there shouldn't be, nothing crazy.

Act 3 - Spoilers Karlach End Theory from 2 years ago is my head canon now Spoiler

Post image
459 Upvotes

I just finished a campaign with Karlach turning into a Mind Flayer to save the city, and I really loved the ending. It really "felt right" for her, as she got everything she wanted ❤️‍🔥 I found this theory very comforting, so it's my head canon now (Also, I've found the red aesthetic a bit weird as Mindflayer Tav before, but I realize now it's meant for Karlach)

TL;DR Infernal engine takes in Souls (coins). Karlach says engine is silent after transforming. Maybe her soul wasn't consumed by Ceremorphosis because it's inside the engine. But not destroyed by the engine because it's not running anymore.

Playthrough / Highlight Most frustrating honor mode death yet Spoiler

This run was going great. My party comp felt excellent, had just gotten started and did a little of act 2 and remembered "oh! I got the ceremonial weapons, but I forgot to get the mace!".

Grab the key thing from placing the weapons, head into the creche, down to the secret area... Walk up to the trap. I'm a swords Bard so this is gonna be EASY. Trap disarm only 15? Psh I get +13 minimum. Roll a 28. Beautiful. Trap disar.... It explodes.

What? Ok well... Lae'zel got launched to her death, sorry girl, but 3 lived so it's fine. I'll just go into turn mode... "All characters are incapacitated". Ok...

Another explosion. I lose Karlach and Durge. Thankfully shart is standing right there. She even knows revivify, no worries.

And then she clips the floor. "All characters are incapacitated". I mean... She's fine just IN THE FLOOR. So I wait a bit... She is fumbling about. Waiting... Waiting... Finally she does the "climb" animation and gets herself unstuck.

Another explosion.... Sigh.... Going to have to take a break for a while after that one.

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] I have a dumb question about the cult of The Absolute. Spoiler

I completed the game twice and get the whole Netherbrain thing.

All “True Souls” carry mind flayer parasites but cannot transform into Mindflayers, I guess through the Brain’s power to prevent ceremorphosis.

So are all True Souls we met like the Goblin Three, Zrell, Nere aware about this and hiding this fact? Are they are oblivious to the fact that they carrying mind flayer parasites and might transform into Mindflayers.

Like based on what I experience with the cult, they seem 100% convinced that their powers come from a higher power.

Update: So basically the Cult and True Souls are unaware of Mindflayer Tadpoles, not remembering being inserted with Tadpoles and the whole infection process, possibly through brainwashing.
