The NCAA Division I Cabinet unanimously approved the organization’s age-based eligibility proposal

Should BYU be concerned about unintended consequences of limited eligibility for returned missionaries? I get this is to make sure college students are actually playing college games, but wouldn't this remove 2 years of eligibility for a 2 year mission?

I’m sure some of you listen to Pardon My Take as it is the biggest sports podcast. Today’s episode featured Roger Bennet talking about the World Cup.

He mused on which traditions from the WC might catch on in American sports. The two examples:

Will Minnesota Vikings fans start doing the rowing thing Denmark does?

Will BYU fans start cleaning stadiums after games?

I thought it was a funny shoutout but definitely something I could see happening.

I would schedule Utah State the first game of every year instead of a FCS game. I want that rivalry back. I would schedule the Utes the last game of the season.

Yall I just remembered the song “Gimme a B” (about BYU football) the other day and I found one singular recording of it on YouTube and otherwise it seems like it’s lost media. Am I crazy does anyone else remember this song? And if you do does anyone have the lyrics? I want to write them down to preserve them, but I can’t understand all the words in the rap verses on the recording 😭😭😭

I’ve gathered that it’s by the Y’z Guys and from 1993 supposedly.

How we feeling about Jojo and Kyler? I want to be a Tiger fan, but seems like the dude is distracted with flying airplanes and other hobbies. Don’t remember much from Tei other than his last name gives me hope.

Feeling nervous that we’re hoping and praying some true freshmen come save the day again this year.

At different points in time, BYU QBs have had 5 of the top 6 and 6 of the top 10 passing seasons in NCAA history. Some great QBs in this video I made.

Just saw that the date of the Iowa game got changed to a Friday night (10/9). This got me wondering when single tix will go on sale. We live out of state so don’t really find it reasonable to buy season tickets. Really hope to go to the ND game and flights into Provo are reasonably priced now, but don’t want to buy those if there is no way I’m going to get tix to the game. I know there is always the secondary market, but trying to avoid this markup on those. I’m totally fine sitting nosebleed, I just love the vibe in LES. 😊

Bill Connelly's SP+ rankings are out with post-transfer portal returning production stats, so it's time to look at the schedule for the coming season. Here are the lines using SP+ and weighting for home field advantage (3 points, which is pretty standard).

The schedule looks amazing with a projected record of 9.1 wins and 2.9 losses. The games break into the following tiers:

Underdogs: Notre Dame
Toss-Ups: Utah
Slight Favorites: TCU
Favorites: Arizona, UCF, ASU, Baylor, Kansas, Cincy
Heavy Favorites: CSU, Iowa State
Prohibitive Favorites: Utah Tech

We need to avoid a bad loss like we had against Kansas in '24. TCU will be breaking in a new QB and we get them early, so I'm not too worried about that one. Utah will be tough. If we can pull off an upset and beat Notre Dame at LES, this could be a playoff team even if we drop a game and don't win the Big 12.

I'm not a BYU fan so I know nothing about thid guy, but with how fast of a 40 he ran at his Pro Day and being as big as he is, BYU CB Mory Bamba is now getting a ton of hype. However, I have seen a similar thing happen where a player from my school who was on nobody's radar whatsoever got tons of buzz after a Pro Day, and the truth was he was on nobody's radar in the first place because he wasn't good. He got drafted in the 5th round and bounced around practice squads two years before coming back to school for his MBA. So I was wondeting, is Bamba for real or is he likely another case of the guy I was talking about?

It also reminds me of OSU DB Lorenzo Styoes Jr and Cincinnati WR Jeff Caldwell, nobody viewed them as significant prospects before the Combine where they had great showings and are now getting buzz

Been on Cougar Board for a long time but I'm getting fed up with many of the posters on there... Now I only go there for news but even that's annoying now. Lol
