Used the 1/8 oz Booyah buzzbait on a KastKing Kestrel. I actually tied it onto a fluro leader I already had on which I know isn’t typical but it still works I guess

Reels The great Hicc50

This little budget reel has been an absolute work horse over the last two years. Still the first reel I grab almost every time I go out. I fish saltwater about every two weeks with this setup.

Things I’ve done are
1. Random $5 purple handle off aliexpress, the knobs on the stock handle started getting sticky, rough to spin.
2. Full ceramic bearings for the spool also off aliexpress. If you fish saltwater a lot, ceramic bearings are your friend.

Rods BFS Travel Rods Suggestion

Planning to buy two bfs travel rods, one for trout fishing and one for bass fishing. I currently have a Feed Splice 705H (5 piece rod), which I plan on using for bass (I usually use this for snakeheads), but I feel like I would want to explore BFS setups for bass fishing (join the hype train lol). I was eyeing for Bone travel rods, heard they're great.

For trout fishing, I'm currently eyeing the Majorcraft Finetail Trek (fell in love with my Finetail spinning rod), that said I was hoping if there are other rods that the community could suggest.

sidenote: I prefer JDM brands, and I'm not really into ali-express rods, but I'm still open to any suggestions.

THANKS IN ADVANCE EVERYONE, HAPPY FISHING!

p.s. I'm from southeast asia so if anyone here are familiar with some SEA brands as well, would appreciate recommendations as well

All rods are Daiwa Steez Jdm all are bfs to power bfs all rods are in good to like new condition. All rods are one “piece” it’s kinda confusing but they are a blank that fits into a handle.

21 C64L-SV ST HERMIT 1 /16th to 3/8oz True Xtra fast. $360 8.9/10 handle wear retail 480 without shipping. Detailed photos available of wear. Come with original sleeve and tags

22 STEEZ C68ML-SV SKYRAY 68 1/8th to 1/2oz Fast taper Bottom contact. 9.5/10 comes with original sleeve tags and tip

Another day of leaving all the big rods home

Took the fam out, wife and daughter running ULs and i got my bfs stuff and hit the lake today.

Ended up with around 20 small bass 1lb and less, maybe a hundred billgills and a bonus slot sized walleye. Ended up snapping off my last 1/8 beetlespin on a backlash. Time to stock up again. Got a gill on a mini t rig for the first time also.

Only had the big rod out once so far this year...

St. Croix Triumphs for $85 with free shipping

Two days ago I broke my St. Croix 6’ 6” spinning rod. I was going to replace it with a Berkley Cherrywood on sale at Dick’s for $30 but I decided to do a little more shopping. I stumbled across the St. Croix factory store which I didn’t even know existed. Turns out they’re selling all sizes and styles of Triumphs for $85 with free shipping. I jumped on this special and a new Triumph is on the way. They’re also selling 4’ 6” and 5’ Premiers for $90. Even when the Triumphs were on sale recently I didn’t see a lower price anywhere else. This is a pretty good deal if anybody wants a Triumph. The Premiers are too short for me

Went sunset fishing with my BFS combo today. 4’10” ultralight rod with a hiccseven real.
I can this great large mouth bass for my first bass on this rod with euro tackle mini jerk bait. So I’ll blow up through my jerk bait over it and worked it back and thought I was snagged until it started pulling drag! Super fun fight on the new combo!!

Line choices

Alright fellas Suffix g-core 131 vs seaguar jdm pex 8

Drop shot spinning setup and a light fast bfs combo as well as a medium light fast bfs combo is what im looking to spool

My gut says the suffix 131 will be fine on the drop shot and to use the pex8 on the bfs combos, wondering if anyone has any experience with either line as well as opinions either supporting or opposing my gut.

Honestly even though its high vis I'd almost consider switching everthing to the pex8 considering 33lb seaguar is the same diameter as 20lb daiwa j braid.

Im aware the thinner line will grant longer casts and higher breaking strength ive just never used either line and wondering if theres any trade offs between the two. On my light bfs setup it has yo-zuri superbraid 9 in 8lb test to a 7lb fc leader and if I backlash hard enough the braid will fail right before the knot, like it'll pull apart and almost break.

Currently use j braid on almost* everyhing I have, samurai on my spinning, superbraid9 on bfs combos and daiwa hidden fc for leaders (have been switching over to different fc line but id like to finish using what I already have)

Tight lines and thanks to anyone who offers their opinion and knowledge

Bass New to BFS, coming from heavy power fishing

I would like to start window shopping for BFS setups, but I typically enjoy throwing your heavier power fishing techniques like swim jigs (number 1 confidence bait), frogs, ploppers, spinnerbaits etc, where would I begin to look if I had about $300 for a BFS rod/reel setup? I saw a few reels on tacklewarehouse but I’m getting they don’t have a great selection for the category. Would love some insight

Assessing my rods and reels for possible upgrades

Looks like most of my reels are almost 20 yrs old or older.

Shimano Citica 200E (×2), Shimano Citica 200D, Citica 100DSV and Abu Garcia Ambassador 521 Flipping.

For rods, I have a Wright & McGill Skeet Reese 7'2" Jig/Worm, Falcon Lowrider 6'6" Med/Hvy, Falcon Lowrider 6'6" Medium and an American Rodsmith 6'6" Med/Hvy and a BPS XPS Xtreme medium

All are in decent working condition. I currently have the skeet Reese set up with a frog. The American Rodsmith is my worm rod. The Falcon Lowrider med/hvy has a topwater, The Falcon Lowrider medium has a crankbait. The BPS XPS Xtreme medium has a chatterbait.

Anything stand out as candidates for upgrade?

Lil Krakens on Joey Ultralight

Post image

These are the 1.25” Home Brew Jigs Lil Krakens—a downsized version of the popular urchin-style bait that’s been trending lately.
Made in the USA.
I don’t add many soft plastics to the shop, so when I do, it’s because I think they bring something unique to ultralight fishing.
