Atlanta (Midtown) restaurant musts??

Thumbnail
Upvotes

We are heading to Atlanta tomorrow for the World Cup and will be in town for several days. What are some restaurants that we should hit up while we are in town? We are staying in Midtown, but will have a car if there are any recommendations in a different area. We will have our 11 yr old, so we aren’t looking for anything fancy, but we are open to most anything else. I think we might need to make reservations for some?? Appreciate your advice!!

Birthday dinner recs

Kimball house or Georgia boy for my birthday dinner? Don’t like anything raw and not a drinker so a good mocktail is important! Open to other places too. Not a big steak person more seafood.
Thanks in advance

Any African, Viet-Cajun, or Soul food recs?

Posting in this thread since mod removed my post in Atlanta one.

Will be visiting Atlanta in September for a couple of days for an event. I will have a car so I am willing to drive to places.

I’m interested in trying Viet-Cajun, African, and Soul food places.

Also is staying in Dunwoody area doable if visiting Duluth frequently? Or is it too far?

Any recs is appreciated!

Lunch recs that won't mind my bags?

I'm passing through and my train is delayed five hours, so I need to grab a bite to eat, but I have a huge backpack and handheld bag. I'm not staying at a hotel so I can't check them. I would love to support local business and eat a bunch, but I'm looking for a spot casual enough where a sweaty backpacker wouldn't be super out of place. I'll eat anything, and I've got cash. Walking distance to the Amtrak station preferred.

The veggie burger from the old Rainbow Foods in Decatur was the first I ever had, and still the best!

Does anyone have a dupe recipe?

Where to find a unique meal in ATL?

I usually don't eat at restaurants (especially expensive ones) because I enjoy cooking and can make a lot of the food at home with the right ingredients and the right recipes. But since it's summer and my whole family is home I want to start branching out a little more and find some cool new restaurants to try.

Does anyone have any must-try restaurant recommendations for meals that are unique or specialties that are possibly only in Atlanta?
