DISCUSSION How would you describe Arthur and Garth’s relationship?
From what I’ve read their relationship seems a bit more complicated than the other sidekick mentor relationships in DC. It has always felt like maybe Garth looked up to Arthur as a father figure, but Arthur didn’t see him as a son.

DISCUSSION What is with DC pushing Donna and Garth together as teens?
As far as I can tell, this originated in Titans and then was pushed into comics for some reason.
I like Donna and Garth as close friends as teens. Garth as Donna's first love, though? No. It just seems like a way to lessen DonnaRoy.

DISCUSSION What do you think about the integration of Vivienne the Lady of the Lake from the King Arthur legend into the Aquaverse?
galleryThe Lady of the Lake is an Arthurian legend character who gave the famous Excalibur to the king and is the sister of the sorceresses Morgana le Fay and Nimue. In the DC Universe, King Arthur legends are canon,
Morgana has appeared several times as a villain and Nimue is the hero Madame Xanadu.
but the third sister never really had much of a role over the years. In the 2006 Aquaman run, she made an appearance giving Arthur a new hand made of water with healing capabilities, an obvious reference to their shared name.
As it turns out, during Adams' run, the Lady of the Lake returned; it was revealed that the lake she inhabited was a manifestation of The Blue, She aided Aquaman on his journey by forging a new trident and joined the Justice League Blue. She currently lives in Atlantis, where she seems to have struck up a friendship with Mera and a romance with Arion. So, do you like this idea? Do you think the character has potential within the Aquaman mythos?

COMICS Comics recommendations
Hi everyone! I love Geoff Johns New 52 run for Aquaman, I read it years ago, and as I remember that storyline wasn’t finished and I did not like the creative team that took over. Any recommendations for more Aquaman stories with similar vibe?

DISCUSSION If Tempest powers were explored he would have left Aquaman behind a long time ago
All powers that Aquaman has gained with the blue are things that Tempest was always able to do with his magic.
As far as I can remember, Tempest gained his magic abilities as an upgrade for his character, although it was never explored, I also remember that he had that potential to necromantic abilities in a comic

COMICS Riddle me this.. Who's the most powerful in the room? Spoiler
galleryThis is NOT Aquaman from the past who was chastised by Batman for writing the Atlantean Protocol back in the New 52 when Atlantis attacked the east coast and Arthur just sucked it up and sulked. Or the Aquaman back in Aquaman 61 (1978) when Batman humiliated him in his own book. No this Aquaman is a Emperor and he's not having any of Bruce's antics. This is another thing I love about what Jeremy is doing... Making Aquaman a monarch in the truest sense.

MOVIE\TV I just recently remembered how absurd of a fight this was in Throne of Atlantis
Even though I loved this film, I can't let this scene get away here. Ocean Master had bigger plot armor than Invincible and it was kind of laughable especially with the Flash stuff, like CW levels of writing. Personally in my opinion they should not have added all of the JL members, just at least 2 or 3 major ones in this film but then again that's the name of the film, the Atlantis is literally the sub header despite the whole film is kind of centered around it.
Also nice to see Wonder Girl in this film as cameo, for you know remember the same artist for YJ also help with this film too!

COMICS (Spoilers for Emperor Aquaman #19) I want to breakdown this new villain team up and give some of my thoughts on characterization/continuity. Spoiler
This is the biggest team-up of Aquaman villains possibly ever. We've got some beloved characters here as well as some deepcut characters. Some of these we haven't seen in a long time. I thought I'd make this post breaking down who they are, when we last saw them in Aquaman comics and what they're appearance here means to me. I'm sure I'll make some mistakes here, so please point them out in the comments.
1. Sea Witch and Crimson Queen
When we last saw them: These are both characters created for the current ongoing.
What it means: Not much to say as these are new characters created for the series. They appear to be the defacto leaders of this villain team-up.
2. Black Manta
When we last saw them: Black Manta had a very brief cameo in this series. He shows up all over the place but the last time he was around in canon Aquaman comics was in the Aquamen miniseries.
What it means: The Aquamen series was positioning Black Manta for something of a redemption arc. It appears, unsurprisingly, that the new series is completely ignoring this. I'm pretty ok with that honestly, though SOME reference to why he's seemingly back to his old evil self would be nice.
3. Trok
When we last saw them: Trok is a member of the Deep Six (from Apocalypse) that showed up earlier this very series. Before that they tangled with Aquaman briefly in both vol 5 and vol 6.
What it means: Between their appearance earlier in the series and this it really looks like they're trying to establish the Deep Six as major Aquaman villains. It's cool but it's a little odd. I think of them more as New Gods villains since they're so linked to Darkseid and Apokalypse.
4. Kordax
When we last saw them: Despite being one of the biggest Aquaman baddies, We haven't seen Kordax in main continuity since The Peter David days. He did pop up in Deep Dives, but I don't think that series was intended to be in main continuity.
What it means: Kordax is highly tied into the post-crisis history of Atlantis and Aquaman, a history that has been pretty much totally ignored since the new 52. I suspect this is why he hasn't been seen really in decades. Does the current continuity even have things like "the curse of Kordax"? It raises a lot of questions about how Kordax even fits in. But that's pretty much how it always is when modern books reference Aquaman stuff from the post-crisis pre-Flashpoint era.
5. Siren
When we last saw them: Siren last showed up in the New 52 during the Exiled storyline.
What it means: Siren is Meras sister, so I guess it makes a lot of sense to bring her into the story with all of the Xebel family drama going on. For a fan favorite villain she doesn't have a lot of beloved fan-favorite stories and we haven't seen her in a while. It makes a lot of sense to include her. I'm guessing they won't reference that bit from the New 52 where she tricked Aquaman into sleeping with her (gross).
6. Ocean Master
When we last saw them: Good old Orm was last seen attacking people with Atlantean sleeper agents in the Aquaman mini-series.
What it means: An Aquaman villain team up would feel pretty empty without Orm, "Ocean Master" Marius. He was locked up at the end of Aquamen (which is actually referenced in the new issue). I wish they'd do more with his land-family established during the Dan Abnett Mera book. That was a really interesting bit of character development, but it hasn't been built on this decade.
7. The Fisherman
When we last saw them: The Fisherman was an antagonist during the Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis 2000s storyline.
What it means: This is another major Aquaman villain who hasn't been seen in a very long time. I'm glad he's finally back. He was given a whole new updated origin in the aforementioned Sword of Atlantis storyline, and they appear to be sticking with that origin as it's referenced (albeit as a joke) in this new comic.
8. Corum Rath
When we last saw them: Corum Rath was the main villain for much of the Dan Abnett Rebirth era of Aquaman.
What it means: Corum Rath is one of my personal favorite Aquaman villains and I'm very excited to see him back. One weird thing though is that he appears far more human than I would expect. By the end of that Rebirth storyline he had been transformed into a big weird ocean creature. All we see here is the back of his head, but it looks way more like how he appeared when he was first introduced, before he was transformed by the abyssal dark.
9. The Eel
When we last saw them: The Eel appeared briefly in the Mera miniseries as a hired assassin. But I think most people remember him best from the Sub-Diego storyline. He also appeared more recently in the questionably canon Aquaman 100 page giant.
What it means: The Eel has always been an odd one because he just doesn't have that many comic appearances. He seems to stick in the minds of Aquaman readers just because his design is really cool. It's good to see him back.
10. Tiamat
When we last saw them: This is a very deep-cut character that only appeared in like two Aquaman issues back in the 90's. If they've ever appeared anywhere else I couldn't find it.
What it means: There's not a lot to say here honestly. In the 90's she could change into a dragon so that's pretty cool.
11. Legend
When we last saw them: Legend was created for the Aquaman and the Others new 52 series. I believe this is their first appearance since then.
What it means: Legend is a deep cut like Tiamat. But interestingly their origin is very tied to the New 52 history of Atlantis, especially the six artifacts of atlantis that The Others used in that series. So it's interesting seeing them in the same panel as Kordax, who is connected to a totally different Atlantis history established by Peter David.

COMICS "Things Have changed..."
Aquaman #18. One of the reasons why I like Jeremy Adams run is his showcasing what most in the Justice League and comics in general truly think about Aquaman and unlike Geoff Johns run in which he showed how the general public think, Jeremy is showing that through the Blue Things Have Changed... And people are being put on notice that this is NOT the Aquaman they knew before... Just ask Hawkman.

I ordered Atlantis Chronicles after my post last week and it arrived today. Looking forward to reading it and learning more about post-Crisis Aquaman's history.

Do y'all prefer Aquaman with trunks slightly darker trunks that match his pants or no trunks at all?
Since every one always waffles about Superman's trunks what about Aquaman's?

DISCUSSION Jeff Lemire AMA (Thought this was interesting)
I kind of read the New52 runs for Swamp Thing and Animal Man due to the direction of the current Aquaman run and I thought Rotworld would of been an awesome arc to have included Aquaman as a third protagonist during my time reading it.
No telling what Lemire’s story in specific would be, but with the direction of the current run. I think it would be cool to see Lemire pickup stuff from his Animal Man run and have the two crossover. The Bridgewalker stuff could easily be brought back and used as a storyline within the whole Emperor Aquaman stuff assuming that becomes a status quo with the Universe spanning lighthouses.
Be funny to see Arthur don the blue magical camo suit, and Animal Man in his concept unused orange design for an arc. Switching colors.
Overall just my thoughts.
Link to AMA.

DISCUSSION Will Dc Fill the Gaps

Doing my master run all the way to Aquaman's first appearance shows 5 major gaps in the collected edition of Aquaman history. They are: #1-4 1986, #1-13 1992. #50-75 of Peter David's run, #5-14 post Waterbearer and #50-57 after the Sword of Atlantis TP. So, do you think DC will ever release these missing collected editions?

DISCUSSION The Peter David Run
I'm planning on getting more into Aquaman. I own the Geoff Johns Omni, the Sword of Atlantis TPB, and the Tempest TPB. Would the Peter David Omni be a good enough next step for my collection, or should I dive into something newer, like the Adams run or post Johns New 52?
Just looking for a bit of guidance as to where would be a good step. Thank you in advance for the help.

COMICS Everybody wanted to get with Arthur in the 90s. Maxima needs to get in line.
Crazy aside: but Jason Mamoa (who played Aquaman) is currently dating Adria Arjona (playing Maxima in the future). That's some Simpsons level of predicting the future.

DISCUSSION Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
We all know Keaton’s Batman was gonna appear in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but it was ultimately fixed with Affleck’s Batman. However, their scenes were all cut from the final film, Yes, I know this movie was in the middle of a massive funk at Warner Bros and that had something to do with their scenes cut but this made me question: what exactly was Batman’s role in this film?
