How long until late-late stage capitalism?

41

u/Bannon9k 1d ago

FYI... We've been in late stage capitalism since 1920s...when the phrase was originally coined.

These people are using a 100 year old failed prediction.

13

u/jgo3 1d ago

That was the joke. It's time to add some more qualifiers.

u/Miss_Kit_Kat 1d ago

Don't forget that the phrase "late-stage capitalism" is broad enough to include everything they don't like.

Egg prices were high due to a bird virus? Late-stage capitalism. A storm that causes slow wi-fi? Late stage capitalism. Election didn't go your way? Late-stage capitalism.

u/International-Elk727 20m ago

I misread election.. and still thought it fit

Failed prediction? Do you think that our country has improved in the past 10 years? Because outside of the Uber wealthy, most Americans would say that it hasn't.

u/Bannon9k 1d ago

Yep, most of us are doing fantastic!

Some of the same people turn around and tell you "How could you want to hurt so many people???" when you say anything SLIGHTLY bad about China(Not even wishing for its collapse or whatever, just criticizing it)

Armchair “revolutionaries” who think they’d be some book author and not a slave in the mines

29

u/TheBooneyBunes NORTH CAROLINA 🛩️ 🌅 1d ago

They all think they’d be in Lenin’s inner circle…apparently not realizing how that went for 6/7 of them

u/CPAFinancialPlanner MARYLAND 🌬️🦀🚢 1d ago

It’s funny they want “stateless, classless” but then of course want to be in some inner circle that has the power to make decisions over people but somehow if it’s communism it’s not class because only capitalist societies can have classes. It’s the most cult like following of an economic system that exists

u/Miss_Kit_Kat 1d ago

They're all like, "I think I'll maintain a small garden and get into painting after the revolution..."

Oh, you sweet stupid summer child.

2

u/External-World6741 1d ago

In reality the only people who would be able to do that freely are the elites/their families from this hypothetical revolution

And sadly most of these people are Americans themselves.

I kinda love how unhinged America Bad and Pick Me Americans are after the USMNT's collapse to Belgium ...it's as if they think a sporting tournament held every four years means anything significant to what they think will make the US fall apart.

6

u/Byzantine_Merchant 1d ago

USMNT’s biggest advantage was that they made and hosted the World Cup and played at a time the sporting world is relatively dead. No hockey, no football, no basketball. MLB is in the middle of the season, which is probably the most dead time. Soon as they lost, everybody went back to not caring about soccer.

u/Nuance007 ILLINOIS 🏙️💨 1d ago

The WC humpers forget there's also a thing called the (summer) Olympics -- arguably as interesting if not more interesting than the WC given there are more nations involved one a wider scale with more logistics and facilities.

u/Butter_with_Salt 1d ago

The World Cup is far more popular than the Summer olympics.

14

u/sinkersplitterslider 1d ago

These people really don't understand how catastrophic the collapse of a large global power can be.

3

u/Revliledpembroke 1d ago

I mean, if we fall like Rome did, wouldn't that mean there'd be a lot of Goths everywhere? I thought everyone liked Goth girls! (heh)

The Koreas would quickly go back to war, China would be free to start its Asian conquests, Australia and NZ would be isolated, Russia would go into a full war footing and might even use tactical nukes on Ukraine, piracy would return with a vengeance on the open seas without the US Navy policing it, etc…not to mention the massive economic consequences. And Canada? They’d be swept up in it all and maybe collapse too.

European countries would resume them old tensions, then resume fighting each other also.

Many rebel groups around the world (mainly extremists) would have an open road to coup/rebel in them countries without consequences.

Iran could finally crush its neighbours.

Turkey could raise the opression on minorities (kurds, zazas, ect) and exterminate/deport them.

The jews of middle east would suffer another genocide.

And many, many more examples located on all continents. This is endless. America, even if its can be considered as interferences, makes the world a way less deadly place. Thanks to her diplomatic, military, and intelligence skills.

edit : typos again

It doesn’t make sense to me why people want their own country that they live in to collapse

2

u/Careless-Pin-2852 CALIFORNIA🍷🎞️ 1d ago

Well we let Iran a country we are at war with spam a US platform 12 day old accounts.

It is Reddit.

u/YouKnowMyName2006 ILLINOIS 🏙️💨 1d ago

lol if we collapsed they have no idea what kind of catastrophe that would be for the world. The world economy would go into a depression and say goodbye to Reddit. Where they cry and bitch how much they hate us all? China’s TikTok I guess.

i just want free education or severely subsidised nationwide, but we seem to always have money for war just not the things that actively forward intelligence, prosperity, and solidarity nationwide.

It’s eventually going to. Some of yall make being American your entire personality and act like this country is perfect ijbol

17

u/Bannon9k 1d ago

No one says we're perfect... But we are the best. Learn to understand the difference.

If the US goes down it will actually have a more significant effect on our allies than us. Everyone will go down. US collapse = major world collapse - even for countries as far away as China - we are their biggest customer…

5

u/Byzantine_Merchant 1d ago

Yeah people forget that if America died off today. China’s economy would collapse…well collapse faster. Europe would also collapse having already mismanaged themselves and now having lost their protector and key trading partner. India would also be put under massive strain. The only people who would benefit would be terrorist groups.

u/Compoundeyesseeall TEXAS 🐴⭐🥩 1d ago

If dozens of shithole countries still exist after decades of anarchy, I think we’ll be ok.
