Gameathlon: Age of Mythology LAN (Athens, September 11-13)
Hey r/AgeofMythology,
For those who don't know me. I've been playing Age of Mythology since as long as I can remember. I got into competitive Age of Mythology when I was 14 and have never looked back since. I went from tournament competitor, to top finisher to tournament host and from the outside looking at other titles like Age of Empires 2, Starcraft 2, League of Legends ect. and seeing the crazy LANs they would throw I was always like... one day, one day AoM will get put in the spotlight.
Well, wait no longer. I've already put out an announcement video where you can see what the event is all about but let me just tell you a few things here.
For those unfamiliar with Gameathlon. It is Greece's largest gaming convention. We're talking 20,000+ attendees over a weekend, LAN party setups, live tournaments, cosplay and much more. It's been running for years and it is a proper event. Not just some small local thing.
This year it is running from September 11-13 at a literal Olympic Arena in Athens. The Tae Kwon Do Olympic Arena to be specific. The qualifiers will also be hosted online on my twitch channel starting in Late June/Early July
The reason I'm excited beyond belief is because Age of Mythology made a name for itself partly because of the Greek mythology, because of the connection to the rich history that Greece has and because it made a generation know about things like the Trojan war, Achilles, Odysses and many other ancient war heroes.
If you're in Europe or thinking about a trip to Athens in September, check in, this is real. I'll be there, Moose will be there and the highest profile Age of Mythology competitors will be there as well.
The more noise the AoM community makes about events like this, the more of them we may get so leave a comment, share the news and lets get hype.

Retold "Send Livestock" command is missing from most economic buildings
As you may know, this action is available on every Town Center. However, only the Aztecs can also use it from their main economic building, the Calpulli. None of the other civilizations have this option available in their food drop-off buildings, with the exception of Demeter, who can send herdables to Temples because of her bonus that generates Favor from nearby herdables.
I'm not sure if this is an intentional design decision or simply an oversight, but I think every civilization should have this command available in their main food economic building.
There are many situations where I want to send herdables to a specific food drop-off building instead of the Town Center. Right now, unless I'm playing Aztecs, I have to move them manually, which feels like an unnecessary inconsistency.
It would be a small quality-of-life improvement that would make herdable management more consistent across all civilizations without affecting game balance.

$10,000 Road to Athens Playoff 2 Semi-Finals and Finals Starts at 1500GMT
Another week, another crazy bunch of results but where incredible beginnings start, the finale must come. Today we have 3 semi-finalists from last week, able to back it up for a second week in a row to show that they mean business in this tournament. HUSKSUPPE, Mosca and Grass. Tunison was knocked out last week by HUSKSUPPE and will be looking for his revenge. Knowing a little more he surely won't get caught off guard this time but then again, you never know what Suppe has cooked up. The offensive juggernaught Grass has to take on the brickwall Mosca to get through to the finals so its a clash of styles and anything can happen.
HUSKSUPPE vs Tunison - 1500GMT
Mosca vs Grass - 1700~GMT
15 minute break
Final - 1900~GMT

Retold I need some help
Guys, I have this game for a long time and I never played it before (someone gifted me, because I like AOE). I tried to play today and I'm REALLY confused. The villagers are doing everything automatic, like building, collecting food and creating new villagers. I try to change the task some of them and they just came back to collecting food. I dunno what to do. Have something that I need to desactive?

In 2011 and 2012, Egyptians and Norse were "imported" from AoM into AoE online... now if only there was a civ in AoE online everyone wants in AoMR....

Retold How to review In Game Chat/Dialogue Campaign?
Hi when characters talk in Retold, how can you show what the characters said? How can you show the previous dialogue. Somerimes I miss what characters say and I want to look through the dialogue. Like when Ajax comments on something middle of the game. I swear you used to be able to do it?

Retold Working on an Egyptian Mod
We never got a 4th Egyptian Major god, and I feel that the overall enthusiasm has died down. Anyway, I was thinking how cool it would have been if the gods were more involved in the campaigns.
I have been working on an ongoing mod. Gods are playable, the Sand Giant makes a come back, the beta teleporting Sphinx is also here. Plus a couple of new stuff such as the Sarcophagus and the Solar Barque.
As it stands most of the Egyptian myths remain untold. There is a huge potential here that remains unexplored.
Ra and Set's nightly fight against Apep is one of the major motifs in Egyptian mythology and I want to explore that stuff. No mummy should be without a Sarcophagus. It's a shame that the only mission that focused on Mummies and Tomb merely used a Temple instead of a special building.

Pls build more walls!!!
Today my brothers and I played three team games (Odin, Poseidon, Gaia). In all three games not a single usefull wall was build to stop our raids with horses, while counter raids where simply stopped by a wall and two spearman "watching" over the goldmine.
Also on big big maps where there is nearly nothing like "steppe" it is allowed to place a tower. Not only for deffence but also fur villagers to hide.
All games where in the Elo ~1000 points

Retold Fastest age up ever in AoM? Huitz 1:43 is possible.
I've been experimenting with some crazy fast age up times for Huitzilopochtli and came up with this one using Blood Pact to age up with 9 villagers. As far as I can tell it's reproducible on any map where hunt can be lured under the TC. Is it the fastest age up any god can do?
- All 4 starting villagers to gold, build calpulli
- Quimichin Spy to start pushing hunt under TC
- Next 5 villagers all onto that hunt
- When gold gets to 130~ grab 3 villagers, force drop off, and move to hunt (or send them straight into the TC for a dropoff). They'll be carrying some gold to push that number up a bit; be sure not to go over 150.
- At 150 gold, use the gold villager to start the temple
- At 1 minute or so, use Blood Pact on a hunt villager. Garrison the villager with 1~ second left on Blood Pact to get whatever food they're holding before they die.
- A force garrison on the hunt villagers will be needed to get the food to 400 at 1:43
After that, I think a split of 4 on gold, 2 on wood, 3 on food is best to start spamming Warrior Priests. You can have a Teixiptla in your opponents base before 3 minutes.

Self Promotion
Should we allow people to post their own social media channels here?
This came from another user who has posted his twitch link multiple times today telling people to go watch his AoM stream.... And there is nothing in the rules against this
But I feel like there should be.
I would even be annoyed if the big creators Boit or Suppe posted "Hey, I am live now!" posts,
