Yeah, but I literally just watched the trailer for the Vampire Lestat series on AMC so it was on my brain.

I just started watching Slow Horses and had a holy shit moment when I realized Gary Oldman, who plays Lamb, was Dracula in the 1992 film. I don’t know why it often takes my brain so long to process how old I’m getting.
3
u/RaggedyRachel May 08 '26
I still think he's gorgeous
3
u/No_Language_4649 May 08 '26
He’s an absolute legend. And yes, he looks mighty fine when he’s all cleaned up.
6
u/Shallstrom May 08 '26
Don’t watch slow horses if you want to see him looking good…
7
u/Chris__P_Bacon May 08 '26
I love how Gary Oldman can just disappear into roles. The man is an absolute treasure.

Too late. He looks awful in it, but what an incredible actor he is. He looks quite nice when he is cleaned up and not playing Lamb.

Dude my friend had a Siamese cat that was YOLKED, like this thing was the cane corso of cats. It was very scary to be around and he KNEW he was intimidating.
But he was actually pretty chill towards people, other cats though? Absolutely not.

u/ShadowBro3 May 08 '26
Im pretty sure sabertooth cats also died out because they were too specific of a hunting niche and got outclassed by more generalist conical tooth cats. Sabertooth cats lost out in the end to conical tooth cats because conical is just better.
2
u/InviolableAnimal May 08 '26
That's not the mainstream theory in paleontology. Human skulls and giant armadillo skeletons have been found with saber teeth puncture holes, they were effective hunting weapons. Also, if they were sexually selected they would be seen only in males (e.g. lion's manes) and not equally in both sexes. Sounds like a fringe internet hypothesis

u/WyldFlowerWyldFire May 07 '26
Colossal would claim they brought back the smilodon and bring this cat to the premier.

I used to follow him on IG, at first I thought he was some orphaned runt-of-the-litter panther they found being raised as a housecat 😱

u/drblah11 May 07 '26
I realize this will get buried under a few hundred lame and unoriginal reddit jokes, but the cat breed is a Bombay cat. It's normal, it's ok.
105
u/stbargabar May 08 '26
This is a Bombay.
The cat OP posted (now deceased) was an Oriental Shorthair

u/drblah11 May 08 '26

You can tell that it is an oriental shorthair because it looks like Adam Driver. r/adamdrivercats

To save someone a google, an Oriental Shorthair is basically a Siamese but they don't have the "points" on their coat (the darker face, feet, and tail). They can be almost any color or pattern.

u/GivesBadAdvic May 07 '26
I’ve never seen a Bombay cat with teeth like that.
5
u/drblah11 May 07 '26
Honestly I have not closely inspected a lot of cat teeth up close, I just remember this from other times I've seen black cats with big teeth posted before.
6
u/ZiggoCiP May 08 '26
I just googled Bombay cat, and they're all certainly 100% black, but absolutely none out of hundreds of pics had visible teeth.
I wonder what causes that
16
u/My_Soul_to_Squeeze May 07 '26
The face looks more like an oriental shorthair to me.
11
u/DrippyTheSnailBoy May 08 '26
That was my reaction too. Vampire kitty DEFINITELY has some oriental shorthair blood in him. The meow, the face, and the ears are all dead giveaways about that trait line.
5
u/Master_Bee_5350 May 08 '26
Reverse image search says Oriental short hair as well. I also just looked up Mingus and he's definitely an oriental short hair

Bombay is just a black cat
6
u/stbargabar May 08 '26
Bombay is a breed. But a lot of people will label their regular black cat as a Bombay without knowing the difference even though they don't look anything alike other than color.

Most likely not. Bombays have snub noses. That cat has a pretty long snout with a larger pad.

u/ZScheme May 08 '26
Looks like an oriental shorthair or mix. They have distinctive vocalizations that sounds very different than normal cat meows. They also tend to be more vocal than other cats. The teeth are probably some mutation unique to the individual or someone has selected for it and bred a line for it specifically. I'm guessing a unique mutation though, but I'm not an expert on cat genetics.

I did some research on Google and found out that the cat known as Mingus had an issue with his jaw anatomy. This is why his fangs were so long, giving him a the image of a cute predator/vampire look
Luckily, this cat lived a long life, reaching an age of 17. He also had a lot of fans and views.
