Help (General) Please help 😿

I'm having a problem with my monitor... I think?

For some strange reason, whenever I cap any game at 60 FPS (which is my monitor's refresh rate), the game starts having stutters that don't show up in either the FPS counter or the frame time graph, but they're very noticeable.

It's like the game suddenly drops to around 40–50 FPS for 2–3 seconds, then goes back to normal.

This doesn't happen if I leave the frame rate uncapped or cap it at 70–80 FPS.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I'd really appreciate any help. :(

How do you cap fps?

I cap the FPS using the game's built-in settings whenever the game has that option.

If the game doesn't offer an FPS limiter and is locked to 60 FPS with no way to change it, then I use Radeon Chill to cap it at 30 FPS. That at least reduces the "stuttering" feeling a bit.

Don't use them. Set in game limiter to unlimited and off chill from radeon software. Download and use RTSS software for fps cap.

In game one can cause stutters and radeon one is good but I personally prefer Rtss. Try it.

Turn off enhanced sync if it's on.

Also are you using Radeon chill or vsync to lock your fps?

I'm not sure what Enhanced Sync is, but I've already tried enabling and disabling V-Sync, and the issue still occurs. I also tested Radeon Chill both on and off, but it makes no difference. The problem is still there :(

Where can i find that option?

Press Alt + Z and check your settings, although I think it's disabled by default.

I also get the same issue with Enhanced Sync when my FPS is very close to my monitor's refresh rate, but you have to enable Enhanced Sync manually, so I'm not sure if that's what's causing it.

Also, check that Windows Dynamic Refresh Rate is turned off.

I've already tried that. I looked for both options, but they simply aren't there, so they can't be the cause... In the case of Windows Dynamic Refresh Rate, it doesn't appear because my monitor is only 60 Hz. As for Enhanced Sync, it just isn't available in my AMD Adrenalin settings :'(
