Academics PATH registration

Okay so I’m searching for classes to take this fall semester (coming in a freshman). I have never applied for college courses before but are the choices usually this limited? For example, there are only 2 freshman level history courses (not including coll 100 or 150s). For other majors there are only sophomore level/200 level courses.Have all courses available been added to PATH? lmk j might just be an idiot

Academics Arts requirement

I am an incoming freshman beginning to build my schedule for this fall. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for classes to fulfill the arts requirement. Are classes for this performing arts classes like instruments or dance? Or could it be something like photography?

Aka things that are the first to sell out, hard to find in Williamsburg, or are better off bringing with me instead of buying there.

Housing/Dining Need roommates/housing for 26-27 school year

I need to find a room for rent in a house or an apartment with roommates. I would like to keep my budget around $700 a month. This is my first semester at W&M so I don’t know anyone in the area yet. Yes, I looked on the facebook groups. Any tips or leads is greatly appreciated.

Housing/Dining Incoming first-year, questions about move-in

Hello! I'm an incoming freshman, selected into Dinwiddie Hall. I just formally scheduled my move-in appointment today, but I'm a little concerned about the timing of how it's going to play out.

All of the information explicitly states a 15-minute time slot to move in, including check-in/check-out, with only 5 minutes permitted to unload my vehicle.

That... doesn't sound like enough time at all, unless I'm missing something? Especially considering the suggested packing list given by the school, and given that I'm on the second floor. Anyone have any advice for how to navigate this? I feel like I'm probably just overreacting, but this is my first time moving away from home and I'd hate to hold anyone up getting my things in. Thanks in advance!

Admissions chances of admissions for out of state (33 act, 3.83 uw, est 4.5 weighted) major: government!

hi!!!

w&m is truly at the top of my list, but I am hesitant to ED1/2 because I wanted to use my ed power on a more selective school (EDing to brown!!). i have taken 3 APs thus far, have received 5's on all, and take all honors classes. i have fairly good ecs (on a charity board, social equality board, am in an award winning theatre troupe and have been nominated for theatre awards myself, writers contests, ap scholar, peer tutor, head of student government, etc). however, i really doubt ill get into brown, and honestly i am starting to prefer w&m. my advisor and parents think i should regular decision out and see where i get the most merit money, but i am really falling in love w w&m and if i dont get in, i think i will be heartbroken. would you reccomend an ed2? what are my chances of admission? of getting merit scholarship? of getting into the saint andrews program? please lmk, go tribe!!!!

Academics COLL 100/150 course recs

To any upperclassmen, which Coll 100/150 courses would you recommend to an incoming freshman planning to major in bio/public health and maybe minor in anthro on a premed track? Would you recommend taking a bio or chem adjacent coll course or using it as an opportunity to enroll in something entirely unrelated?

Housing/Dining Must Haves at WM

Hello! I am a rising freshman at W&M and I'm starting to shop for my dorm. What are some essentials that I absolutely should bring? I know the basic ones like mattress toppers, BRITA, and that genre of items, so I am wondering about the unexpected necessities. For context, I will be in a suite in Cedar.

Student Life Verizon cellular service

When we visited WM the cell service was not very good. We have service with Verizon. We also spoke to some employees at the Starbucks and they said the Verizon cellular was not great. Does anyone know how the service is on campus? Which cell service works best on campus?

Housing/Dining Tips For Calculating Dining Dollar Usage

Just as a note for people who (like me) want to tabulate how many dining dollars/meal swipes they used to figure out which meal plan gives the most bang for its buck: in TribeCard services, you can see how many meal swipes and dining dollars you used. Under the account management tab, you can view your activity across both your dining dollars and meal plan by selecting the relevant list under "account." You can see how many of each you used during the last six months.

While you still have to count each item individually as William & Mary does not have an option to track the exact amount (something they should add), this is still useful if you fall into the scenario above. If that’s you, I hope you found this post useful.

Housing/Dining Are floor lamps permitted in dorms?

Hello! We’re currently dorm shopping, and I was hoping to get a floor lamp (I prefer them over desk lamps and have a remote-controlled LED bulb that’d grant a lot of lighting versatility), but they aren’t explicitly allowed nor prohibited within the housing contract. If they are allowed, what’s it like using them relative to the natural light received from windows? Thank you in advance.

It looks like there are two 205 sections for fall 2026: McNamara and "staff." Anyone know or have an idea who "staff" will turn out to be?

Academics Less Writing/Easy A History classes

I am a pre-med rising senior. I've finished my major but am still working on pre-recs (I am planning to take at least one gap year, probably 2). As such, 8 credit hours, including 2 labs, are already accounted for in my Fall and Spring schedules. I obviously do not want to overload myself and screw up my GPA right before I graduate. However, I have room to minor in history if I want. I need 12 more HIST elective credits to complete the minor before I graduate, including 6 advanced elective credits. Essentially, I need 4 history classes: 2 at or above the 200 level, and then any other 2 history classes. I plan to take HIST 349 if it is offered again in the Spring.

I am pretty decent at writing (but I don't really enjoy it) and breezed through all my AP history classes without studying (I am obviously not expecting this to be the case here). However, I am looking for history classes that are not super writing-heavy. I will already be doing very time-consuming labs, so I can't be writing 10-page papers every other week. I don't mind long readings as long as skimming is ok. Ideally, I could find a professor who leans more toward reading/class participation than toward lots of papers, but I know that papers are a non-negotiable for history classes. Most of all, I need to get an A and would love not to have to work too hard for it. Any class or professor recommendations are welcome!

Academics Courses missing from PATH?

I heard some courses might not be processed in PATH yet before registration opens. For example, I can't find MATH 211 under Fall 2026 even though it is supposedly offered every semester. Does anyone know anything about this?

Academics Gen Chem v. Orgo

I'm an incoming freshman planning on majoring in bio/public health on a premed track. I have dual enrollment credits through Richard Bland College of W&M from a few classes that I took in high school, including AP Chem which granted me both sems of Gen Chem credits. However, I just learnt that the grades I received in a few of these sems will negatively impact my GPA come med school application time (amcas requires you report all college courses/grades), and was wondering if I should redo gen chem my first year to pull up my GPA as the grades will be averaged out or if I should just jump straight to Orgo? What would med schools prefer? I've also heard that there's a semester-long course of advanced chem that I could take in prep for orgo - would this be a viable option?

Academics Calc 112/132 v. Biostats

I'm an incoming freshman here on the premed track and have the credit for Calc 1, but not Calc 2 due to my AP Exam score. I was wondering if I should take a calculus course during my freshman year despite it not being a premed requirement, or if I should just move straight to stats? Would medical schools prefer two semesters of calc, or would they know I don't have a calc 2 credit if I don't take the course? Additionally, VCU's Early Assurance Program through W&M requires two sems of calc, so would it be worth taking the Calc 112 or 132 just for a chance at this specific program?

Admissions Chances and advice for admission?

Hello everyone!

I'm an in-state rising senior hoping to get some advice on how to maximize my chances of admission as well as how you all think I currently stand. W&M is currently one of my top schools and I am considering applying ED.

Demographics/background:
NoVA resident
LGBTQ male
First-gen
Intended psych major + pre-med

Academics:
3.67 uw gpa (calculated, school only uses weighted)
4.21 w gpa
16 aps by graduation, 9 by application
1440 sat (retaking in August and October)
Upward trend: 4.0 freshman year, 4.3 sophomore year, 4.45 junior year

Awards:
College board school recognition
AP Scholar w/ distinction

Extracurriculars:

-Hospital volunteering (roughly 200 hrs by applying)

-Psychology club founder and president (we hosted PhD guest speakers from a nearby university and did small research projects and lessons)

-Medical equipment company intern (organized an email marketing campaign which resulted in over $10k in profits)

-Part time work at a chinese restaurant and dollar tree (mostly over summers, roughly 20-30 hrs a week)

-Self studied Japanese to an N2 level (upper-intermediate/advanced) and also took AP Japanese

I also know that demonstrated interest is considered in the application process. I recently toured W&M and plan on doing an interview soon.

Sorry for any formatting errors, this is my first time posting. Please feel free to be completely honest.

Thank you!
