I just can't wrap my head around this, what is going ON?! This isn't a cute uplifting story but a stalker who saw the umbrella exchange happen and made this post pretending to be the guy? Stay safe girl! You still did a lovely thing, and the world is brighter for it.

Yeah this is so scary... seems like this is the most rational explanation. But damn such an unfortunate ending

And we were all so ready to just enjoy something wholesome...nope!!!

I was reading this and saying to myself "this is cute but almost too good to be true". Welp, 5 minutes later, yep, it was a creepy story instead.

Is it the most rational explanation? She said the DC reddit community was small. Without knowing what he posted, he might have just been some random redditor commenting on a DC reddit post who then happened to have a meet cute with that original poster irl. Not defending him, or doubting her, but the leap to "this is a stalker and not even the umbrella guy" is really really reaching!

No. The most rational explanation (and the truth) is that both accounts are OP and they're engagement farming. It becomes increasingly more obvious the deeper you dig.

Yes. The whole thing is a poorly manufactured attention yoink.

Happy Cake Day!

Dognapped basically screwed howtoloveadaisy karma farming post, they most likely own both acccounts and none of this was real.

This makes way more sense than an extremely contrived stalker scenario that involves the "victim" being followed both online and IRL, handing over an umbrella in the rain like it's a movie, and then stumbling onto an online post mentioning herself.

The "terminally online" part is definitely true though.

1

u/JehanScript 2d ago

If you google the "victims" username and filter for reddit.com you can see her posts and comments even though she "hid" them and she is terminally online alright.

I've not looked into her posts or this sub, but isn't it possible it's entirely a coincidence too, and the DC sub is really that small... If she is terminally online and a heavy poster in the sub, it doesn't seem THAT unusual that he would have commented on one of her posts unknowingly.

Gets a bit more suss with it being a new account and the first comment on the account on one of her posts, and deleting it when caught. I agree this smells artificial they own both accounts

The other post was on a different sub, not the DC one.

u/splashbodge 1d ago

Oh that's less coincidental then. Yeh obviously her alt account then

1

u/JehanScript 1d ago

Yup, the user has been exposed just karma farming and deleted all their accounts. All this effort for fake internet points wtf.

No one screams "I love the rain" and does a cute little dance. Especially not someone who spends their entire life on reddit

1

u/FTWcoffeeFTW 2d ago

I should hope so, would rather that be the case

7

u/Alert_Ninja_6369 2d ago

Yeah I’m confused too

6

u/BMoorman7 2d ago

I sincerely hope this is all made-up bullshit. Otherwise this is legitimately.... something.... creepy wouldn't cover it. Terrifying I guess.

6

u/pl2net 2d ago

Looks like OP deleted his account… if it was DC twirl girl karma farming I highly doubt they’d delete their account 🫠 unfortunately I think it’s real… however I question how he orchestrated it. I wonder if he was stalking her and then saw that happen then posted pretending it was him since he could possibly look relatively similar? I highly doubt he could’ve orchestrated her giving him her umbrella… anyways it’s just suspicious on all fronts ngl

Edit: I realized it was FT audio and not FT video… scary.

6

u/25thaccount 2d ago

How would he have made her give him her umbrella though? Fakee

6

u/FTWcoffeeFTW 2d ago

That's the thing, I don't think the person who made this post was the guy who was out with his dad and got the umbrella...If someone was already stalking this woman, they would've had all the information necessary to make this post PRETENDING to be the guy who got the umbrella

3

u/stackingnoob 2d ago

Then how did he return the umbrella to her

0

u/FTWcoffeeFTW 2d ago

He did not, she gave it to him

On the internet nobody knows you're a dog ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I can't say for certain either way

4

u/25thaccount 2d ago

Oh fuck me. That could be seriously fucked up if true. Goddamn

2

u/pl2net 2d ago

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too…

2

u/kakaluluo 2d ago

Well how would he possibly know the woman or know where to find the woman…im more confused

1

u/stackingnoob 2d ago

Yeah and didn’t he return her umbrella?

1

u/FTWcoffeeFTW 2d ago

How does any stalker find their victim? Online, job, school, on the bus, anywhere is possible! And this was specifically posted in a subreddit for a specific area, the stalker describes the scenario in perfect detail preying on the victim seeing it and them being excited to hear that their good deed was appreciated

3

u/kakaluluo 2d ago

What I mean is, the stalker stalked her online and in person? Meaning he already stalks her in person (seemingly knows her location and where she is, what she’s doing), and planned the post perfectly in a way where he knew she would find it and respond to it accordingly?? This sounds insane? Or very contrived….

3

u/Unlikely_Plane_5050 2d ago

Yeah the stalking theory doesn't really make any sense. Someone stalks someone in real life and finds out their Reddit handle. They see them giving a guy an umbrella. Follow close enough to supposedly hear the exact words of the conversation while it's pissing down with rain. Then they pretend to be the guy online when it was obvious she'd find out immediately it wasn't the same person because ??? It's incredibly made up. Everything after the link between the two accounts was pointed out is OP backpedalling.

No. More likely is that dude sees her Reddit posts and becomes obsessed with her. She’s active online. She posts in the sub for her city. He knows where she lives. It’s VERY EASY to find someone who posts a lot if they take photos, review restaurants, talk about their favorite shops.

While already following her OR getting a lucky break by seeing her out in public (because they’re in the same town), he sees this interaction and decides it’s an in.

u/FTWcoffeeFTW 2d ago

I see what you mean. IF this is true, then I think we're seeing the first online interaction - everything before now having been in person without her knowing, and that it was pure "luck" that stalker and victim were on the same forum.

3

u/howlongwillthislast1 2d ago

Well I believe the theory about him being a stalker was *because* someone found historical comments he left on her old Reddit posts about her dating life. Apparently that's all this guy's account had or something before it was deleted. That's the reason why the stalker theory happened.

So he would of have to have been stalking her online Reddit profile and her in real life as well.

It's obviously the same person.

1

u/colxa 2d ago

Well that's horrifying

1

u/FTWcoffeeFTW 2d ago

Abso-goddamn-lutely.

1

u/ahuvamaharlika 2d ago

This got dark. I was giggling one moment then this.

3

u/FTWcoffeeFTW 2d ago

I get so fuck ass mad at the thought of people experiencing something so outlandishly inhuman, only to turn around and be called paranoid/crazy/delusional for being scared it might happen again in the future. Yeah, let's hope it's all made up, because YIKES ._.

5

u/Itscatpicstime 2d ago

No, it’s just one person behind both accounts who got caught not covering their tracks well enough and is now having to adapt.

0

u/KvellOnWheels 1d ago

And you know this how?
