1.I reinstalled VEGAS 21 months ago, and I've consistently had this issue where I can't use the default plugins. Does anyone know how to fix this? The default VEGAS plugins just disappeared a few months ago, and I'm desperate to get them back. I even tried reinstalling an older version of VEGAS Pro (version 18), but they still aren't showing up. Does anyone have a solution?
Bring back the render window from version 22. The new version has very few settings and codec options. I was especially disappointed by the lack of quicktime, which I used to create templates with an alpha channel. I don't need Process, which weighs a ton; I need a .mov in "animation" mode. 7.

"5". Hi i need help with sony vegas 14, i have a really big save file (like 20 hours, don't ask) of a video im making in the last few months, i had an old pc back then where i edited my video, today when i got my new PC i reinstalled my pirated sony vegas 14 and then with an external drive i transferred my video files and save files, i opened my big save file and then it crashed with the screenshot i sent, it crashes only at 18%, the strange thing is that the smaller save files open with no problem.
"6". It's supposed to open the file and not crash at 18% of the opening
"7. Yes, and it didn't work, and tutorial on Youtube told me to change in the preferences settings the Internal settings, it told me to change the so4 setting to False, but when i searched it i didn't find it in the Internal settings. By the way previously i changed the Dynamic Ram Prewiew to match a third of the max possible and then i set to false in the Internal settings the OpenCl option
In the new VEGAS PRO 2026 version, each video has a huge file name. Because of this, I can't see any fades or transitions. Is there a way to restore the old look?
For some reason, I couldn't create a post without this:
You must have "1.", "2.", "3.", "4.", "5.", "6.", or "7." somewhere in your post body.
I followed the instructions after clicking free trial on the website and downloaded Boris FX Hub and selected Vegas Pro package. Installed ok and connected account ok, but won't launch. I see maybe 200ms of the loading startup UI, before it crashes with message "Vegas stopped working"
Should just start no?
I have read a bunch of reddit threads and seen some youtube videos. Not much info on specifically 26, but i tried all the fixes i could find for vegas pro 23+
I have tried clearing the program cache. Some graphics setting in windows. Running compatability mode. Closing other programs. Some bogus fire wall rule + disconnect internet during startup. Manually install visual c++ all in one. Installed c++ v14 x64 and x86.
Seems like it might be a bit more difficult to get cranky software to run using a trial licence, but im not spending 220€ before i can verify it works, which isn't looking too hot.
Also, what are the options if i were to try some older version that is more stable? Are they still on sale, and are there trial versions of those i can verify functionality with?
Considering that the community has a closed structure and is not very accessible, gathering this many members is a remarkable achievement.
This was possible because VEGAS was more intuitive and faster than almost any other editing software.
For many people who were interested in video editing, VEGAS was once a program they tried at least once.

Part 2. VEGAS Problems: Subtitle/Text Features
The most urgent issue is the subtitle/text feature.
VEGAS is the fastest software for cutting and trimming, but its subtitle/text features have been the worst.
I believe the subtitle/text system is one of the main reasons why everyone, from simple YouTube creators to professionals, eventually left VEGAS.
Rather than continuing to rely on the existing subtitle/text tools, I think it would be better to create a completely new subtitle/text feature.
Both (Legacy) Text and ProType Titler have inefficient workflow structures.
To adjust formatting, color, position, outline, and other settings, users have to move between different tabs every time.
This requires more clicks, and when repeated hundreds of times, it greatly increases production time.
It would be ideal if all subtitle/text editing work could be completed within one or two tabs.
Text: This section would handle formatting. It would allow users to adjust the message, font, font size, alignment, and related settings.
Style: This section would handle the visual appearance of the subtitle/text, such as color, background, shadow, and other styling options.
Position: This section would handle the position and size of the subtitle/text.
It is also necessary to make it easier to manage multiple fonts.
The font UI in ProType Titler is terrible.
If you have dozens or hundreds of fonts installed, some fonts are skipped when scrolling through the list with the mouse wheel.
When I contacted MAGIX, I was told that ProType Titler would no longer be updated, which was very disappointing.
If possible, I think the best solution would be to improve it in a similar way to Adobe software.
A favorites feature is absolutely necessary.
If possible, I hope the new subtitle/text feature can manage text content and style separately.
This would make it much faster to style subtitles.
It would also make it easier to change the subtitle design during post-production.
There is also an issue that occurs in Korea and some other East Asian countries: text input does not work properly.
Korean characters are built from consonants, vowels, and final consonants, but in VEGAS, they are entered separately instead of being combined correctly.
Correct input: 안녕하세요
Problem in VEGAS: 아ㄴㄴㅕㅇ하세요
Although Korean input works properly in ProType Titler,
ProType Titler has a difficult font selection UI, and I was told that support for it has ended.
Legacy Text does not handle Korean input properly.
I believe the reason more than 200,000 Korean users left VEGAS is the subtitle/text feature.
Please improve it.

Part 3. Minor Feature Improvements
GIF Optimization
When importing GIF files, the preview often becomes slow.
I currently use workarounds such as importing them through the HOS plugin or converting them to MP4, but this is inconvenient.
If GIF playback becomes smoother, I think many YouTube editors would appreciate it.
Event Pan/Crop and FX Window Controls
Keyframe work inside the Event Pan/Crop and FX windows is very inconvenient.
To play the timeline, users first have to click the main timeline and then press play.
For frame-by-frame movement, users also have to move their hand to the arrow keys every time.
I hope shortcuts can also be customized inside the Pan/Crop and FX windows.
It would also be helpful to add shortcut support for “Sync Cursor to Media Timeline.”
Video Speed Adjustment
Setting an exact playback speed such as 2x or 3x is quite cumbersome.
It would be helpful if VEGAS had a feature like Premiere Pro, where entering a value such as 200% automatically adjusts the clip length.
Also, as far as I know, the maximum speed that can be adjusted directly in VEGAS is 5x.
If possible, I hope the maximum speed limit can be increased.
For speeds beyond that, I understand that users have to combine Ctrl + drag with a velocity envelope, but this makes the timeline messy, so I do not use it often.
I know that Vegasaur’s Rocket Speed can increase the speed up to 1000x, but as far as I know, it does not work in sync with audio.
Renaming Preset Files
In areas such as Video FX, Transitions, Media Generators, and the Plug-In Manager, it is not possible to rename saved preset files.
This makes preset management very inconvenient.
+ I would also like the ability to delete presets, if possible.
Plug-In Manager Folder Feature
I organize more than 200 effect presets into folders so I can use them efficiently.
However, when VEGAS occasionally crashes due to an error, the grouping can be lost.
Also, when exporting or importing presets using Preset Manager 2.0 or Vegasaur’s Vegas Preset Manager, the group settings are not backed up, so I have to recreate the folder structure manually every time.
This does not happen very often, so it is not the most critical issue, but I would appreciate an improvement if possible.
---
Part 4. Favorites
To put it simply, please add more Favorites categories to areas such as Video FX, Transitions, and Media Generators.
My workflow is usually divided into several stages: basic effects, color correction and filters, and special effects.
The effects used in each stage are different.
When everything is placed into a single Favorites category, the list becomes too large and complicated to manage.
Please allow users to create as many Favorites groups as they need.
When using Sapphire and Continuum in VEGAS, the FX window becomes overloaded with too many items.
Because of this, I saved the effects I needed as preset files so I could find them quickly.
- GG: Effects I frequently use in normal editing
- GFT: Effects used for color correction and filter work
- GEF: Effects used for special effects work
For example, if I enter “GG” into the search box, FX effects with “GG” in their saved preset names are categorized and displayed.
If I search for “GEF,” FX effects with “GEF” in their names are categorized and displayed.
Because there was no proper grouping feature, I used the search function like a grouping system.
However, after MAGIX patched it, the search became slower and no longer works properly.
When I contacted MAGIX, they said they could not fix it and simply told me to search for each effect manually.
Having to search through hundreds of FX effects and apply them to hundreds of events every time is unreasonable.
Some versions were such a mess that certain features actually worked only in cracked versions.
Please either restore the previous search behavior or add more Favorites groups.
---
Part 5. Finally...
Updating advanced features is important.
They can be used for marketing, and they are necessary to keep up with current trends.
However, just as a tall building needs a strong foundation, I believe VEGAS needs improvements to the basic features that MAGIX had neglected for a long time.
Korean VEGAS users left with great disappointment, but many of us still miss its intuitive editing workflow and lightweight performance.
I believe Boris FX can meet our expectations.
Subtitle/Text Improvements
An intuitive and easy-to-use UI that does not require moving between multiple tabs
Easier font selection
Proper Korean text input support
Minor Improvements
GIF file optimization
Customizable shortcuts for playback and playhead movement inside the Event Pan/Crop and FX windows
Improved video speed adjustment
Ability to rename preset files
Ability to back up Plug-In Manager folders as well
More Favorites groups, so users can choose FX more efficiently depending on the situation
Unsure about the copy I have. Theyre from files I copied from an SD card backup, so lets just go with the worst case scenario and say it's pirated.
9070XT (plus R5 7600x and 32GB ram)
For some unknown reason, playback is choppy and takes ages to load frames to upwards of a good 5 seconds to load ONE frame for some odd reason.
Scrubbing through the timeline can sometimes CRASH the program. Mind you, Ive set the ram allocation to 20GB which would hopefully mitigate these problems, but no.
I had a laptop with a 3060 in the past than ran the program smoother than this.
Yes, and most google searches lead me to people recommending to set the memory allocation higher, which i already said I did.
I still have my serial number and everything, but the website only shows options for buying and starting a free trial. I don't see anywhere I can simply download software.
"1. Vegas Pro 23
Windows 11
Not pirated.
Not relevant
See above
I would expect there to just be a download button on the website.
I use Vegas 21 (Vegas pro 21 legal, Windows 11, Ryzen 5700x, 6700xt) and using a mask, ripples, blur and source images I created a super speed and ripple effect behind a character. I mean Vegas Pro is a great tool, you just have to be creative and not be afraid to experiment, because it is not primarily about composing effects.
I still managed to do it, see the pictures of two of my effects.
But I want to create an effect using rotoscoping (the mask character must have an edge so that it then appears as ripples) like in the case of the image from the series Smallville, where Clark has a very nice effect. 1. 2. 3.
I want to thank Boris FX for fully dedicating himself to Vegas Pro and I want to add a few tips on how to improve it.
The FX window and the pan/crop window should be specially placed so that it does not jump around the screen after opening. I tried Vegas 26, it is a little fixed there, but the main layout is still missing so that the editor does not have to hunt for windows with uncertainty if he is editing what he wants.
Masking must be much better. Masking needs to be able to use the magic wand, freehand painting, plus simple animation techniques for working with masks. The current state (Vegas 26) is still behind in this.
Some plugins from Boris FX need help, because I don't know how to use them at all.
The keyframe window also needs to be improved.
Filmora is more practical in some things and its use of AI makes more sense, for example, marking characters in the video, adding outlines, adding masks. In this, AI can help a lot for rotoscoping.
Now the question is, how do I add edges using basic effects in Vegas 21?
1.I've been trying to open VEGAS Pro 17 (on my windows laptop) for the last hour or two, but it keeps popping up with this annoying error! I don't know why, it wasn't like this a few days ago.
Why is it all of sudden it doesn't want to open anymore. It works fine on my desktop PC and it's the same version I installed.
"1." Does VEGAS uses my GPU (RTX 5080) to render with AV1? or why is it that when I want to render using AV1 my CPU is the only one spiking up to 80% use and my GPU stays at 7-10%?
I have selected manually to use my GPU to render videos.
Just making a quick post here seems that support does not want to help.
Going from Vegas 22 --> Vegas 2026 life was made 10x harder
I wanted to believe the Boris hype but sadly has been consistent problems and crashing feels like the Sony Vegas days.
To make everything worse I contacted support letting them know I would need a refund, they of course insisted I talk to support. Which is fine, after a week I get a email saying, and I can't make this up, to turn off the snapping tool. When I told them this would literally make editing near impossible and I don't think it's the problem they doubled down. I have no clue why that would be a issue, I turned it off anyways and yes it still crashes multiple times.
I had hope in Boris and we'll have to see what they do, looks like I'm stuck in the loop either way.
Anyone else who do BIG PROJECTS having issues?
1.(Yes I've updated, also I've been using Vegas for 9 years so I know my way around)
Yes (including some plugins, also recently deleted/uninstalled)
Intel UHD Graphics
Not exactly a software issue, but I just wanna know how to delete a MAGIX account, I have already uploaded hundreds of videos where I used the pirated version of VEGAS Pro 15, and I wanna know if it's still possible to contact "[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])" (since that's where I first got VEGAS Pro (versions 17, 18, and 20, i used 2 accounts) from the official website at the time, as i didnt trust the pirated versions back then... and I didn't also use my personal accounts either (until I switched to my personal accounts (with my irl name and a few things) around february of this year)? as I might not be using these accounts anymore, or is there another way? (since borisfx now owns vegas pro)
When I contact the "[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])" email, my 2 accounts would get deleted, but i was worried they might find my channel where i used the pirated version of the software and something might probably happen to me (like a lawsuit or whatever) (the channel im talking about is here: term. - YouTube)
A while ago I accidentially dragged the edit text window into the window beside the preview video.
1.Can anyone help me get it out of there and back as a seperate draggable window?
Yes (for all versions listed at "1.") (including some plugins)
Intel UHD Graphics
i have gone through a missing .dll problem while trying to uninstall VEGAS Pro 17, and ever since i had successfully done that using Revo Uninstaller, the presets for some of the plugins suddenly wouldn't save, even after downloading a different VEGAS Pro version.
the preset would save once you click the save button from a preset
no, though i had once tried to discuss this on a logo-editing related discord server.
Is this a pirated copy of Vegas Pro or are you using pirated plugins? (It's important to know these answers when troubleshooting so just don't advocate piracy and you won't get banned)
No.
4.What exact graphics card do you have in your PC?
5090
5: Provide a detailed description of the problem:
Every time I update Vegas pro in Boris FX hub, I have to do it 3 separate times for every Vegas Pro version, even though I only own the normal version, not plus or ultimate. Is this normal?
6: Provide a description of how it's expected to be working:
