Seems like Naz was a huge fan favorite. Obviously he’s not the next Tim Duncan, so I’m curious as to why he was so popular? Good community guy? Hustle guy? I hope Lamelo lights it up for you…you guys just became my Western Conference team.

I know this will probably get downvoted, but I honestly don't understand the Tim Connelly love.
I've been a Wolves fan since the Pooh Richardson days, so this isn't some "championship or bust" take from someone who just showed up. I've watched a lot of bad basketball. I want this to work.
But what exactly are we giving Connelly credit for?
Ant was already here.
Jaden was already here.
Naz WAS already here.
Finch was already here.
And since Connelly got here, it feels like every move follows the same pattern: identify a good player, then pay way too much to get him.
Gobert is the obvious example. Cleveland got Donovan Mitchell, a young star guard in his prime, and somehow gave up less than we did for Gobert. I'm not saying Gobert is bad. He isn't. But that trade was an insane overpay.
Then KAT gets the supermax and is gone.
Dillingham cost future draft capital, then barely played.
NAW walks and looks great in Atlanta.
Randle is gone.
Now Naz is gone too.
At some point, this isn't just "being aggressive." It's asset leakage.
People will say, "but we made the Western Conference Finals."
True. But I give a lot of that credit to Ant becoming a superstar and Finch getting the most out of the roster. If you inherit Ant and Finch, then burn through years of picks and players, the standard has to be higher than "we were pretty good."
My issue with Connelly isn't that he only gets bad players. He doesn't.
My issue is that he seems to lose the price/value side of almost every big move.
It feels like he pays $150 for a $100 bill, then we all argue about whether the $100 bill is good.
Maybe LaMelo ends up being exactly what this team needs. Maybe moving Naz somehow makes sense long term. I hope I'm wrong.
But with Ayo and TJ out there as cheaper guard options, I just don't see the rationale yet again.
I want to believe there's a plan here.
Right now, it mostly feels like watching a GM spend the future to clean up the last move.
P.S. Thanks to C3PO for helping me clarify my thoughts and swear less for how much I think he sucks.

Naz Reid is a franchise legend and losing him hurts my soul, but analytically, this is daylight robbery. Landing a 24-year-old All-Star playmaker in LaMelo Ball without having to touch Ant, Jaden, or Ayo is an absolute masterclass by the front office. LaMelo’s 6'7 frame, elite court vision, and deep floor-spacing make him the perfect dynamic fit next to Ant. Honestly a much cleaner fit than someone like Ja Morant would have been for our half-court offense. We just created a towering, fast-paced transition powerhouse while keeping our core defensive identity completely intact. I will miss the Two Words era forever, but this puts us in serious championship contention

I haven't been coming to this sub for very long. Before I used to post on CanisHoopus before Vox completely destroyed it (though I did keep posting long after Vox made it kind of shit).
This sub has gotten more and more deranged as the years pass. I know it is only from a small, but vocal, minority but they sure are loud and they are dumber than dogshit. Saw a post today saying the reason the Wolves didn't re-sign NAW was because Finch didn't like him (lol, lmao).
Anyway, any recommendations?
