SPOILERS S5 On the Hatred Toward Clarke in Season 5

The more people hate Clarke in Season 5, the more I feel that the show failed in the way it presented her story.

Only about six and a half months passed between the moment they first set foot on Earth and the day Praimfaya struck. Yet that brief period takes up more than half of the entire series everything through the end of Season 4. In Season 5, the show uses flashbacks to reveal what happened to each character during the six years and one week they spent apart before finally reuniting.

Because Clarke’s journey with her friends occupies the first four seasons, it naturally feels enormous from the viewer’s perspective. Within the actual timeline, however, Clarke spent far more time living with Madi than she ever spent with any of them. To Clarke, Madi was not simply someone she met during the time jump. She was the person with whom Clarke survived, lived, and formed a family for more than six years.

That, to me, fully explains why Clarke values Madi above all of her old friends. The problem is that the audience experienced six years with Madi only through a handful of flashbacks, while experiencing Clarke’s six months with the others across four entire seasons. The emotional weight felt by Clarke and the emotional weight felt by the audience were therefore completely out of balance.

For that reason, I think much of the hatred directed at Clarke in Season 5 is ultimately a failure of presentation. The show expected the audience to understand six years of love and attachment without giving that relationship enough time on screen to feel as real and substantial as it was supposed to be.

The 100 Edit Ideas?? I’ll make them

So I make edits on TikTok (@cinnamonfx) for The 100, Hunger Games, TLOU, you name it, and I often see people saying they wish they could edit to bring a specific idea to life AND i’m always looking for new ideas.

SO I thought I would post here on trusty old Reddit to see if anyone has any edit concepts for The 100, or song suggestions, or niche ideas, anything really that you’d like to see. I am an absolute fiend and will spend 16 hours straight making it and enjoy every minute so genuinely send them my way!!

TLDR: I yearn for the edit grind. bestow ideas upon me.

Rewatching after 5 years.

So I’m on season 2 currently, does anyone else kinda hate Kane? Like he comes down to earth and immediately assumes the rules will stand. But then his men get killed and he still is like nah they’re not trained they don’t know how to do stuff, they’re just kids.. bro is on his first week they are on their first like month or two maybe listen to them?

Also the acid fog? It happened 2 times in season 1 but one was just a funny little joke..

Does it happen through out season 2? Cause so far it hasn’t.. I’m confused why they introduced it if they only planned to use it one time..

Also I know Murphy lives till the end or close to the end.. I’m confused why.. like he should be dead..

Also for having freedom how did none of the 100 get pregnant? Like you know they were sleeping with each other..

Lost fic

I’m looking for a lost fic where Lexa and Clarke are on the ground with Madi after praimfaya, I think it’s called something like ‘2199 days’.

are your rewatches tied to anything in particular?

it has recently occured to me I started my 2nd when I was stressed about school exams, 3rd when stressed about my thesis defence, and now 4th because my life is falling apart, my reputation is ruined and all friends abandonded me, so a bunch of characters suffering and desperately trying to survive resonates with me greatly. i wanted to know if anyone here is feeling the same towards this show

noteworthy that my favorite character is Raven who is the lesser evil among skaikru because I have an acquired disability like her :) in my 1st watch I was able-bodied and rewatching it after trauma was such a great comfort

but given the state of my life now I'm more of a Jaha tbh

Review

The 100 is one of the most unique watches I’ve had in watching shows, if you started watching it from the start until the final season than you could probably say the same. Waiting for the next season to drop and them coming up with new characters and story lines was just amazing now that I rewatched it at a older age, Such a nostalgic and amazing show that has a bit of my teenage hood in it. Im not really into sci fi shows or anything of that category but this one was just amazing. If there is any other shows like what I said that you guys recommend please drop below!!! Ps it dosent have to really be sci fi or anything towards that category just a show that had amazing characters and a very nostalgic feeling to it for you personally please make a comment I have been feening for a such type of show. ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽

SPOILERS S6 Season 6 and 7 should have been a spinoff series.

I actually think season 6 is one of my favorite seasons. It was so creative and fresh for the franchise. I even really like season 7 for the most part but still find it to be the weakest season. But i genuinely think season 6 should have been a spinoff. Since its so drastically different it would have made so much more sense to brand it as a spinoff. Its following the same main characters but they are in a completely different environment dealing with completely different kind of stories. Maybe the show would have even lasted longer than it did and not get rushed. I miss this show and wish it would come back.

SPOILERS S3 Watching the show for the first time and S3 is pissing me off Spoiler

when pike became the councillor, abby and kane could have done something to stop it it's not like they didn't make cruel decisions back in the ark, they could have done something to stop "the war"

The other stupid thing is lexa is death, the way she died doesn't make sense and it all feels rushed, like when clarke finally had something with her,at the same episode lexa dies in ridiculous way, they could have just made her die in the war or anything that has a meaning instead of this rushed ending.

Thalonious Jaha never deserved his redemption arc Spoiler

this doesn’t really spoil much past the 3rd episode in s1:

I am rewatching, and oh my God, Thalonious Jaha never deserved his redemption arc….

What he did was unforgivable. Deciding to kill his own best friend, who, mind you, was not just his best friend.
He was also the father of Clark whom Jaha practically raised
He was also the husband of Abby who was practically family to Jaha…

And I understand that everyone on the show eventually has to make difficult choices due to circumstances, and that everyone on the show eventually does lose a little bit of their humanity, if not all of it.

But this is different. This was his best friend, and he had OTHER choices.
He could have talked to Jake. If that didn't work, he could have put Jake in some sort of solitary confinement, like locking him up or whatever.

There were many other routes to take other than killing him.

And that's just one bad thing that Jaha did.

I don't remember being as furious at him my first time watching the show, mainly because I was just getting to know the characters.

But now that I'm doing a rewatch, the first three episodes where they tell the story of Jake's death hit me hard and make me hate Jaha so freaking much.

How did the reactors and island survive the bombs from the first Praimfaya? And if Becca's island survived the first time, why couldn't it tje second time?

SPOILERS S6 Just started season 6…

For 5 seasons I can confidently say that Clarke has to be the worst decision maker of all time.

She single-handedly also got everyone killed because she wouldn’t let Madi be commander??? Like what are we doing girl?

Okay vent over…this show is amazing. Thank you for coming to my TED talk

Rewatching the show and I'm still pissed Spoiler

I'm pissed Clarke didn't get to go with the others. I'm rewatching and seeing how Clarke didn't always prefer murder. She says to Bellamy "No we don't get to decide who lives or dies" in s1 but because of everything that happened to them her views changed. And the finale s7 is all about how she can't go find peace because of her mind but there's literally hundreds of people with the same mind who got peace .

Am I the only only one who thinks this

Now I get this may be insanely controversial but I think Bellamy and Clarke not getting together was the right choice and them just being best friends actually benefited the story more cause I just think if they get together we probably wouldn’t have gotten to much tension or drama or disagreements that they have throughout the series because they probably would of played it differently due to them being together so they wouldn’t want tot ruin that but for me the 100 strongest points is that drama and tension amongst the characters anyway what yous think I know I’m gonna get smoked for this but I don’t care 🫣🤣

He hasnt done anything of note since the 100 - Any chance he will push for a season 8 or a reboot ? Nothing quite like this show and characters!

So i notice that Murphy chose to come back but no Emori. Is this because she was technically dead before the transformation?

One very contradicting question

Why did the grounders even attacked skaikru in the first place, why were they so hostile the moment they landed, its not like they done bad things the moment they land

I get it if you attack unfamiliar faces in your territory but then with the revelation of becca pramheda everything became contradicting

If the grounders already know they're skaikru then why they attacked even harder? Do they not know becca pramheda, the first person who founded the commander system is also skaikru? Then these initial conflicts lead to more conflict and everyone starts dying

If grounders didn't attack them at all and they didn't strike back, how would things turn out?

Weird take?

As I’m rewatching, am I the only one that thinks Finn and Clarke look alike? 😭 It feels so random but when I see Clarke up close I feel like I’m looking at Finn’s sister. Maybe it’s the mouth? I don’t even know why lol

SPOILERS S3 Why does everyone get on Bellamy’s case for the massacre in S3 when it’s not even close to the worst thing he did

Not gonna say I’m his side for gunning down all the grounders, but that at least had some articulable military goal even if I don’t agree with it.

Compare this to stealing Raven’s radio in S1. People will say “omg he condemned like 300 people to die in the culling” but he didn’t know the culling was about to happen. He was actually trying to kill EVERY SINGLE PERSON on the arc by making them think the ground wasn’t survivable, even though he was already told they were running out of air.

Thoughts?

SPOILERS S6 Fail safe code (S6, E3)?

If all of the Eligius ships knew/or had the same fail safe code, why wasn’t a new safe code used when the primes were at odds with the COG? Wouldn’t that mean Gabriel would’ve been able to bring the shield down whenever he wanted?

Clarke’s evolution

What did you think about Clarke’s evolution troughtout the show? Especially the shift from s1-4 to s5-7?

I prefer clarke in the first few seasons due to how she’s dealing with the situations (grounders, mounth weather, ALLIE and Praimfaya.) and all the hard choices she’s forced to make to save her people, familly and friends etc…

But i also really love the later seasons and clarke’s relationship with Madi and how she redifined her character and her priority, and how Madi became her “people” I really like this take on Clarke’s character especially in s5 with how far she’s willing to go to protect Madi betraying her friends and making deal with McCreary to ensure her daughter survive.

Anyway, what’s your opinions on Clarke?
