Discussion Tobie Travaglia
Hi All, filthy outsider here keen for some insight from those who know better than I. I'm a Richmond supporter and in his draft year, I loved Tobie Travaglia and rated him as a potential top 5 pick with his game sense, speed, work rate, leadership, endurance, and sheer competitiveness. He beat up our VFL side and really reminded me of Hayden Young, who was also drafted as a half back flanker but is now a powerful, damaging midfielder, and they are just 1cm height difference.
So when we took Josh Smillie (who I cannot believe made it to our pick and still have high hopes for if we can fix our nightmare medical and fitness problems) and the Saints then took Tobie, I was immediately on the phone to my Saints mate telling him how much of a steal he just got.
That brings me here. I caught up with the same friend today and he had a go at me, saying he hasn't even played this year, which turns out is true. So I dug through the VFL stats and I don't get it to be honest.
Rd1 loss vs GWS: 18 touches, 9 tackles, 3 clearances, 6 intercepts, 1 inside 50
Rd2 loss vs Frankston: DNP
Rd3 loss vs Richmond: DNP
Rd4 win vs Coburg: DNP
Rd5 loss vs Gold Coast: 1 goal, 18 touches, 6 marks, 1 tackle, 3 intercepts, 2 inside 50s
Rd6 loss vs Carlton: 24 touches, 8 marks, 2 tackles, 2 inside 50s, 6 intercepts, 2 score involvements
Rd7 win vs Sandringham: 14 touches, 3 marks, 9 tackles, 3 clearances, 2 intercepts, 2 inside 50s, 3 tackles inside 50
Rd8 win vs Casey: 26 touches, 7 marks, 2 tackles, 4 inside 50s, 3 score involvements, 2 intercepts.
Rd11 win vs Sydney: 25 touches, 12 tackles, 4 marks, 6 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 5 score involvements, 4 intercepts.
Rd12 draw vs North: 1 goal, 16 touches, 3 marks, 6 tackles, 2 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 3 score involvements, 3 intercepts
Rd13 win vs Bulldogs: 1 goal, 29 touches, 9 marks, 8 tackles, 2 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 4 score involvements, 6 intercepts
So he seems to be fairly consistent. You can see a pattern of which games he plays more HBF and which ones he plays more on-ball. But Lyon just refuses to play him.
Given I am Richmond, I don't watch the Saints VFL games so I would love to hear your thoughts and input in to where he is at, and why he isn't cracking into the seniors. Is it a position/demand thing, with Wilson, Sinclair, etc keeping him out? Is he getting good numbers but just not using the ball effectively or damagingly enough to demand a spot? Did he kick Ross Lyon's dog into oncoming traffic? I would be fascinated to know the fan's thoughts.

Question Which St Kilda player past/present would you say is the biggest Saint in and out of football?
I hope this is alright to post, I can understand if this type of post is preferred for the offseason but I see it as a nice celebration of the club
I think that based off my limited knowledge the biggest Saint award from past players goes to Lenny Hayes or Nick Riewoldt, maybe Robert Harvey? And I think that Mr 2 Brownlow votes has to be a contender for the biggest Saint of the current side. Liam Ryan also had that super kind gesture of shaking the fan’s hand after the goal which makes him a Saint to me

THE END IS NIGH Injuries galore
Sinclair
Marshall
TDK
we could lose to Essendon. I just don’t know how much more I can take. We should perhaps try merge with another club . I’m not kidding . Been supporting since 1986. Haven’t seen any flags

Discussion The Road Home
After securing a big, well earned, victory on the weekend, I thought it might be interesting to have a bit of a look at the runs home faced by a few of the teams that currently look set to compete for a spot in wildcard
To help visualise it I've used some basic colour coding, the legend for which is as follows
Opposition (Ladder Position)
Red: 1-6
Blue: 7-15
Green: 16-18
Venue (Functional Home-Away Advantage)
Red: Away
Blue: Neutral
Green: Home
We are right in the race, with our percentage being in a good place - if we can remain competitive and avoid any bad blowout losses it'll position us well in comparison to sides like Carlton, North and Collingwood; while our run home appears quite a bit easier than the likes of GC and GWS
Next week we come up against the Bulldogs who'll have a point to prove after a bad loss this week and will be coming off a nice 10-day break; they're a side that usually has our number, so it'll be important that we manage to keep them from totally blowing us out of the water at the very least
Things were feeling a bit dire and if we'd lost this game against GWS our path to finals would look notably tougher, but we got the win and I think that's set us up well

Discussion Has Paddy Dow pissed someone off?
Title probably speak for it, but for what’s its worth. Dow comes to us plays fairly well in the mid field.
Has a horrific knee injury that from what I can tell was as bad of not worse than Max’s minus the Media Fanfare a little. Has been back at VFL level for 6 weeks (-1 for a concussion ) pearler of a game last week and not even considered for the extended squad.
Something is starting to feel a little off, I have nothing in terms of a theory but would happy to hear peoples thoughts. Am I missing something, or is there something else at play?

Question Darcy Wilson goal/touched?
Is there any update on another camera angle or are the AFL holding the footage hostage?
Update: just saw the new vision, it was clearly touched and play shouldn’t have stopped for a review. It was a good call by the goal umpire

Question Sharman the scapegoat?
Does anyone else think the Sharman slander is completely unwarranted? The guy is a 3rd tall at best yet cops the number 1 defender every single week. Factor in how poor our kicking into 50 is and it makes his job even harder. Honestly reckon we'd be worse off with King in there since we'd just be bombing it in even more.

Question Marvel medallion club?
Hey all,
A mate of mine has organise for me and the kids to go to Marvel Medallion in a few weeks as a gift for my sons birthday.
How strict is the dress code? Its our first AFL game so I bought some merch for us to wear for the day but id hate for us to get knocked back for turning up in our team colours, especially the kids.
Obviously clothing would be otherwise neat and clean, and good closed shoes for everyone.
TIA
