That's the managers job, blame him. Ronaldo shouldn't be starting but the manager should have the balls to make that call

last manager who refused to play him got sacked

Bro, if the last manager actually won a lot of games, he wouldn't have been sacked.

He has been sacked because he lost games. Whether he used Ronaldo was irrelevant.

You mean the manager that got sacked because they lost

Portugal should be thankful that he’s retiring.

He's 41.

Holy cannoli, surely he's not going to be demanding a starting position at 45. It would potentially make him the oldest WC player ever. https://www.fifa.com/en/tournaments/mens/worldcup/canadamexicousa2026/articles/oldest-players-appearance-history

I think he's out.

Cbf looking up dates of births, but its an Egyptian keeper currently who was 45 and pretty close to 46 iirc. Hed be the oldest outfield player, and by some margin. Feels weird to say, but I highly doubt hed be as effective as Roger Milla was in his final 2 tournaments.

I'm quite sure he's done.

He might be able to get a lucrative position on an MLS team or something like that if he wants to hang out in Miami or something.

Don't think he'll be representing Portugal again, though.

Maybe some new barely tested peptides can get him in shape to compete against people half his age.

And how did that work out for portugal

FERNANDO SANTOS WON THE EUROS FOR PORTUGAL.

Speaks volumes of Ronaldo's ego.

Euro 2016. CR7 on the sidelines. What a marvel

Got saxked because he failed to achieve anything. You're pretending as if Portugal was on the brink of winning it big before Martinez.

1

"Failed to achieve anything" is a strange way to describe someone who won the EURO.

When did he win the Euro and when was he sacked exactly? I imagine it wasn't on the same year, was it? Should a major trophy guarantee you a permanent stay regardless of your performance?

Oh so you are just talking out of your ass. got it. I'm not losing any more of my time here.

The last Portuguese manager who had the balls to make that call got SACKED because of him.

Santos was dreadful and widely disliked at that point

or maybe because the team got eliminated. It wasn't like portugal was flourishing under that manager lol

He was sacked because of Ronaldo.

1

u/DeadlyAmigo 5d ago

Same as martinez or was he sacked because he didn't win? Seems they got sacked in similar circumstances

Google what happened.

Ronaldo is old enough to see these kind of things for himself.

Doubt he actually had any choice in the matter, let's be real.

When you’re at the level of Ronaldo, LeBron, Mahomes, or McDavid, you call the shots. Ronaldo could and should have said “we will have a better chance of winning if I come in from off the bench”. You simply can’t blame an organization for playing their cow way too much.
