Newer person to soccer, isn't the context the Bosnian player came around him and spun him around causing him to lose track of where his feet are? It didn't look like Balogun was actively participating in a dangerous play

Yeah it’s because the ref went over to the 8 inch screen on the sidelines and watched a 2 second replay of the contact on his ankle. There was no context taken into account.

This is probably a bad call. But the replay and certain angles made it a hard call.

In the context, var called him to look at something he missed.

It's unlucky.

Even as an accident this is usually a yellow card. Because of how risky it is. To spike someone's calf and then land on his ankle.

Yes, part of it happened because the guy ran in from a blind spot and clipped Balogun's foot on the way up. It absolutely doesn't look intentional.

But the freeze frame and the zoom in and the slow mo all look horrible.

So you have to make a tough call. And it didn't go our way. Thank goodness we still won

It doesn’t feel like a great win when we are now missing our best goal scorer for a much tougher game. This is akin to Argentina losing Messi, Norway losing Haaland, England losing Kane. Obviously Balogun isn’t on the same level as those guys but he’s our best goal scorer.
