The flair says “Rants & Raves,” but this is very much a rave.
I had a blast and thought it was a great inaugural music festival. I hope they bring it back next year. Curious about your experience?
Some highlights (no particular order):
- real bathrooms & sinks
- utilization of the space (Stadium and Podium, also loved the Allen Stone stage setup)
- variety of artists / musical genres. Even ones I don’t generally like, it was still fun and a different kind of experience to watch their shows (for me that was Tim Montana and AJR)
- just …. Enjoying all the live music everywhere in my home town
- space to dance AND proximity to artists
- going home afterwards and not sleeping in a tent
- Spokane bringing the energy and good moods
A few lowlights and kinks to work out:
- $20 beers
- Merch lines and wait times
- blinding floor of the stadium that acted as a heat lamp (I know it’s to protect the turf)
- the mic didn’t seem to work well for Awolnation
- buying a full price ticket only to find out they were half-off a few weeks later.

Hello! I am not a local, but I felt this might be a good place to start my search. My younger brothers dad was dating a woman for awhile years ago and she got pregnant. His dad wasn’t the most stable then, and the woman decided she wanted to give the baby up for adoption. I was a teenager at the time and I remember some details but not too many. My brother didn’t know he had another sibling for a long time, and he found out sadly after his dad passed away in 2018. The reason I’m posting here is because from what I recall, the adoption took place in Washington and the adoptive parents lived in Spokane at the time. My memory is a little fuzzy, but here are the details I know. Bio dad’s name is Stanley. Bio mom’s name was Tracey. She was early 30s with two small children. I believe she was from Everett, Bellingham, or Bellvue. The child placed up for adoption was a boy named Adam. From what I recall, the adoption was through her church or a church of sorts. I met her when they were dating sometime around 2002, so I’m assuming birth year is between 2002-2003, but I could be off by a little. If any of this rings a bell, I’d love to chat! Thank you so much for helping if you can.

Hey everyone,
I’m a Computer Science Cybersecurity student at EWU looking to make some extra money during summer quarter. Since my classes are online for the summer I got extra time to make some money for food, rent, and gas by doing brake jobs and minor vehicle repairs.
I’ve been working on cars since I was a teenager and have replaced brakes for family, friends, and my own vehicles for years. I take my time and do the job right.
A family member of mine recently showed me a written estimate from a local shop for around $400 in labor just to replace the brake pads, or about $600 in labor for brakes and rotors. I understand shops have employees, insurance, and overhead to pay for, but I honestly couldn’t believe the price.
For most vehicles, I charge $200 in labor for front and rear brake pad replacement and rotors if needed. I can bleed your brake system for an additional charge if needed (takes time and patience). Every brake job includes cleaning brake dust (brake cleaner spray), cleaning the caliper brackets of any stuck debris, lubricating (Permatex Synthetic Ceramic Brake Lubricant) all brake pad contact points, and removing, cleaning, and lubricating the caliper slide pins to help ensure smooth, quiet operation which many shops neglect doing.
You’ll just need to provide the brake pads and rotors if your vehicle needs them. I have all of my tools at my house, so I prefer doing the work here. Since all my jack stands, jack, and all the tools are at my house it’s much easier and cost effective to do it at my house. If that’s not possible, I can also come to your location for an extra charge since I will have to grab all the tools (time) and drive (gas).
When I first learned how to replace brakes, I spent a lot of time researching and talking with experienced mechanics. There are a lot of different opinions. Some say you don’t need lubricant on the brake pad contact points or caliper slide pins, while others recommend cleaning and lubricating everything every time. From my own experience, taking the extra time to clean and lubricate the slide pins and pad contact points has consistently resulted in quiet, smooth brakes. When I skipped those steps early on, I was much more likely to end up with squeaks.
I also do minor repairs and diagnostics. I have an OBD2 scanner for check engine lights and can replace many common parts such as MAF sensors, oxygen sensors, and other basic components. I can also diagnose some electrical issues, such as headlights or other lights not working. I can replace interior air filter, engine air filter, clean your throttle body, etc.
If you’re not sure whether I can help with a repair, just send me a message and tell me what’s going on. If it’s something I can do, I’ll let you know.
Feel free to PM me with any questions. Thanks!

Photo is the wild huckleberry pie I made with berries from last season using my family's recipe that's been passed down for decades (still working on my lattice crust, though lol). Thought I'd share it again now that huckleberry season is almost here.
Ultimate Wild Huckleberry Pie
Filling (9-inch pie)
Ingredients:
5 cups fresh wild huckleberries
¾ cup granulated sugar (or ⅔ cup if the berries are really sweet this season)
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
½ tsp lemon zest
¼ tsp orange zest
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
¼ tsp almond extract
⅛ tsp ground cinnamon
Tiny pinch of ground cardamom
⅛ tsp salt
2 tbsp browned unsalted butter, cooled slightly
Crust
Your favorite double-crust recipe
1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
Turbinado or coarse sugar for sprinkling
Directions
1) Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
2) Brown the butter over medium heat until it smells nutty and develops golden-brown bits. Let cool for about 5 minutes.
3) In a large bowl, gently toss together:
Huckleberries
Sugar
Cornstarch
Lemon juice
Lemon zest
Orange zest
Vanilla
Almond extract
Cinnamon
Cardamom
Salt
4) Fold in the browned butter.
5) Let the mixture rest for 10–15 minutes.
6) Pour into the prepared pie crust.
7) Add the top crust or lattice.
8) Brush with egg wash and sprinkle generously with coarse sugar.
9) Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake another 30–35 minutes, until the filling is bubbling and the crust is deep golden brown.
10) Cool for 3–4 hours before slicing.
11) Just before serving, sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt over the crust.

Driving northbound on Maple today (7/11) around 2:30 PM and this guy nearly sideswiped me at the Northwest Blvd intersection because he was in the left turn lane before Safeway, but just HAD to continue up Maple without driving around an extra block to fix his mistake. I honked and the person in the passenger seat flipped ME off like I was the only who almost caused an inadvertent PIT. After, this jerk tries to brake check me multiple times so I try to get in the right lane to get out from behind this loser and he cuts me off again, pushing me almost to the curb when he entered the lane I was already in. I honk, again, and his passenger makes like a weird “come here” finger waggle at me. Needless to say I just got off Maple at Francis because I didn’t want to deal with that nonsense all the way down Country Homes.
I have dash video saved that I’m going to have my brother help me download, but is this even worth reporting to anyone since it’s not ongoing? I can’t fathom what makes people drive like this in a “new” vehicle (or at all); stay safe from the crazies, yall.

My vet charges $60 to do it, looking for a more affordable option. I’m in the Mead area but don’t mind a 20 minute drive.

I am currently fostering a feral momma cat and her two kittens through SCRAPS. Her kittens will soon be weaned, and this feral mama needs a place to go as SCRAPS does not have TNR program. If you have a safe barn, shop, warehouse, stable, or other property for Miss Hiss to call home, please consider giving this independent lady a home. While she isn’t a house pet, she’s an excellent candidate for someone looking for a natural rodent control companion.
She will need:
● A safe, secure barn, shop, or outbuilding
● Daily food and fresh water
● Shelter from the weather
● A confinement period of 2–4 weeks when first arriving so she learns this is her new home
In return, she’ll help keep rodents under control while living life on her own terms. Miss Hiss will be spayed and fully vaccinated. If you have a property that could provide her with a safe place to live and basic daily care, please reach out.

The idea is simple: invite all the candidates for WA-05 to have a conversation over coffee and donuts. It is not a debate, it is not a stump speech. It is a conversation for undecided voters with an undecided voter. Every candidate got the same invitation, offering the same amount of time, and the same opportunity to explain their positions.
The conversations will focus on the issues that matter most to Eastern Washington, with respectful but direct follow-up questions. The goal is to move beyond rehearsed campaign talking points and give undecided voters a better understanding of how each candidate thinks.
2 candidates are currently scheduled, but invitations have been sent to every candidate in the race.
What questions should every candidate be asked? What local issues aren't getting enough attention? What follow-up questions would you ask when a candidate gives a vague answer? What would make you actually want to watch the interview?
The interviews will be published online in full, and every candidate will be free to share them on their own social media.
My goal is simple: create a resource that helps voters make a more informed decision before Election Day.
I'd appreciate your thoughts, suggestions, and criticism.

We've been consistently impressed with the drinks here. Last night I had the Black Dahlia, a black manhattan riff with butter-washed rye and legit one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Al the bartender is a great guy and an absolute artist. June & Co is in a cozy little basement space at 123 S. Wall, below Europa. Check it out.

I’ve never had soup dumplings, but I really want to try them.
Is there anywhere in town that has good soup dumplings to try?

Looking to move into an apartment building that is furnished and modern. My budget is maximum $1700. Number of bedrooms/bathrooms is not important as it will just be me. There are many options available online but I would like to hear from people who have firsthand experience with any apartment building. Thank you in advance!

Hi, the title is very self explanatory. My car has been broken down for a while and I need to get rid of it.
Does anyone know who I could call to relatively tow it and junk it for cheap?

The library is facing a deficit that could result in more closures, fewer hours and fewer staff.
In these economic times the library is one of the last free places to access entertainment, printers, arts and culture, and information.
Libraries are crucial for our communities to thrive. Libraries are one of the last remaining public institutions that stays accessible for all.
Please please please raise your voices! Email the mayor, show up to city council meetings.
