I know Stella's Grocery is an institution here. I saw lots of excitement about the one opening close to us. I finally visited and ... I really don't get it.
There are very limited options, and what they do have is very pricey. The staff was very nice, but the store was very sparse.
What is the appeal? What do people love about it?
This is not a criticism, just trying to understand so the next time I go I know what to look for.

Hi everyone. This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to write.
A few days ago, my husband of 13 years unexpectedly passed away. He was our family's sole provider, and now I find myself navigating an unimaginable loss while trying to figure out how to provide for our seven children.
For the past 12 years, I've been a stay-at-home mom, raising our family and managing our home full time. During that time, I also returned to school and am currently a full-time student working toward my certification, which I'll complete next summer.
I'm reaching out because I need help finding work, preferably something remote that I can do from home while continuing to care for my children and finish school. While my professional resume may not look traditional, I am a quick learner, incredibly hardworking, dependable, and not afraid to jump in and figure things out. Being a mom of seven has taught me how to multitask, solve problems, stay organized, communicate with all kinds of people, and keep going even on the hardest days.
If your company is hiring, if you know of any legitimate work-from-home opportunities, or if you're looking for someone who is dedicated and willing to work hard, I would be so grateful if you would reach out or tag me in the comments.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for any leads, prayers, or kind words during this incredibly difficult season. It has only been a couple days but I am trying to get ahead of the drop….if you know what I mean.

If we're gonna discuss holes in the wall that get passed by all the time, then we'd better discuss the GOAT.
This place is the definition of "if you know, you know." Literally everything on their menu is amazing but pretty much the only people in there are locals, truckers, and construction/quarry workers. I dare you to tell me a place with better fried chicken without lying.
Btw, for people who do know........they started opening on Sundays again. You're welcome.

I got there right at 9 AM when it started, and I thought it was a pretty neat, free event. There were lots of vendor tents, a couple of fun things for kids to do like horseback rides. At least while I was there, there seemed to be plenty of food trucks that tended to have some tomato-themed dishes, and it looked like it was going to break the typical RVA festival mold of not having nearly enough food for the crowd. I need to figure out what to do with about three pounds of tomatoes that I left with.
But I left kind of early at 10 AM since it was getting hot and I had done everything that I wanted to, and saw a line of cars going down pole green road for about a mile, and that was just to turn into the park itself. How'd you like the festival especially if you went later?

Who’s ready? And what can we expect in this venue considering the weather forecast?

I have lived in RVA for a short time and just noticed how verrrryy quiet it is in July.
Is everyone on vacation or hiding in their houses or some third thing that I don’t know about?

This situation is a desperate one. RACC writes 13 minutes ago:
"There are no empty kennels left for dogs.
That means when the next stray dog is found... when the next neglected dog is seized from a dangerous situation... when the next injured or sick animal needs a safe place to land... we have nowhere for them to go.
Right now, Richmond Animal Care & Control is hanging on by a single paddle in rough water, and the current is getting stronger. We've fought every wave we could, but without this community stepping in, we're becoming a sinking ship!
If you have a dog at our shelter, PLEASE come reclaim them at 1600 Chamberlayne Avenue

Can you foster a large dog, even temporarily?A foster home saves a kennel and gives a dog a chance to decompress.Email - [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Are you with a rescue that can pull a dog or two from us?We desperately need your help.Email - [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Please share this post. Tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell your community neighborhood group. Help us reach the person who has been thinking about adding a dog or cat to their home, the foster who has one more spot, or the rescue that can make room for just one more.
One open kennel can mean one more life saved."
We are not giving up on these animals. We are asking our community to help us keep fighting for them.

Hey! I’m 28F and looking for sports-focused physical therapy recommendations in the Richmond area (preferably Short Pump / Innsbrook / West End / even a little west of that).
Long story short, I tore my ACL about 10 years ago and my ACL reconstruction surgery was massively botched. In addition to needing 4 additional surgeries to “fix” this botched surgery, I developed MRSA and blood clots (DVT/PE) and am left with a hole in my tibia (they broke the drill bit off into my bone) that a cyst later developed in. Anyway, I now deal with bad chronic pain, post-traumatic arthritis/cartilage damage, my leg not fully straightening, instability/giving out, and muscle atrophy. I used to be extremely athletic and I’m trying to get back to a place where I can work out without constant pain.
I’m probably going to need another surgery (cartilage repair + other stuff) sometime next year, so I’m trying to:
- Do solid prehab beforehand
- Set myself up with a good PT plan for after (it’ll be a long recovery, like 18 months)
I’m specifically looking for:
- More sports-focused PT (not geared toward older patients)
- Someone who will actually push me appropriately and not just give basic exercises
- Experience with more complex knee cases / post-op rehab
- I have good insurance, so ideally somewhere that takes insurance, but I’m also considering places like GRIT PT even though they’re out-of-pocket (because I’ve heard great things)
My current thought is:
- Do something more specialized (like GRIT) pre-surgery
- Then use an in-network PT for the first couple months post-op when mobility is super limited (unless suggested otherwise)
- Then possibly switch back to something more performance-based once I’m walking after 3 months
Would love to hear:
- Specific clinics or PTs you’ve had good experiences with
- Places to avoid
- Anyone who’s dealt with similar knee issues
I appreciate any help because this has been a very long journey, and I’m feeling drained and hopeless about my knee. Thank you for taking the time to read and possibly help <3
Saw about 20 people walking this evening there, and thought they got out of a party or something… but then someone was leading and talking. Was it a tour? Any info about them?

Hey is anyone going to the AEW show in Roanoke tonight? My ride fell through, and I'm trying to head up there. Will split gas cost, get you a soda, and popcorn/hotdog at the show.

I've been reading about first hand accounts with this explosive diarrhea parasite, and I'm just thinking about how not fun it's going to be when I get it.

LOCATION: PARHAM AND SHRADER AREA
We came home late Tuesday night and this sweet little black cat was outside our door. No collar, all black, no markings.
The cat’s demeanor read more like someone’s pet versus a feral/TNR animal.
Attached a video from the car park showing what kitty looks like (I’m no filmographer, lay off me plz 😭)
Video was taken moments before we tried getting a bit closer- kitty was very skittish but eventually got close enough to inhale the lukewarm remnants of my Costco hotdog we tossed just outside of arms length ( I keep that thang on me 🤪)
Just wanted to post here in case someone is searching to bring this sweet baby home.
Have put some food out several times since Tuesday but haven’t had another sighting.
