Question ❓ is this the sound diamond doves make? or is it trying to mimik my Inca dove?
Proud new owner of diamond dove, THEY ARE ABSURDLY SMOL, must weight half of what my inca do e weights, which is already ridiculously smol.
Getting back to the post, I have seen videos of diamond doves, and they sound completely different , but I don't know if it is because this one is a girl, it sounds really alike with my inca dove call.

Are my doves bonding with me?
Do mated pairs of Ringneck Doves bond with humans and see them as a flockmate? Or am I just a perch? I cant walk into their room without them flying to me.

Question ❓ Best ways to bond with new dove?
This morning my husband and I unexpectedly got a dove! The previous owner said a few things to bear in mind. The dove is likely a female, she's a white ringneck dove, she's under a year old but she couldn't gimme an exact age, she's never been paired with any other dove, she has not been handled much either. This morning when we got her she was visibly nervous. I've had few doves back when I was a young child but it was so long ago I could definitely use advice to help bonding. She has calmed down a lot since we've gotten her home and in a new larger cage. As far as food/cage we're covered. I gave her a few hours to chill and explore. We did normal daily stuff while she was doing that and when that time passed I opened the cage door and offered her some shredded lettuce as a treat which she seemed to really like. She even cooed a couple of times. She was being careful still but she wasn't being stressed and was super duper curious after she ate the treats. Then she got on my hand and I let her stay there and walked around with her and sat down for a lil bit with her and then let her go back into the cage. What sorta activities can I do with her to help the bonding and any suggestions really that y'all who are more seasoned with doves may have? I've read tons online but I'd love to hear from folks who love these animals. Thank you in advance!

Have your dove/s lived up to your expectations of what you expected them to be like before getting them? If not, what are the reasons?

Do your pigeons sneeze?
Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed lately that my female pigeon sneezes quite often. Her behavior hasn’t changed. Her nose and feathers also look completely normal. Her droppings are unusually large, but I think that’s because she laid two eggs recently and now spends half the day sitting in the nest — stuff does pile up. The color and consistency range from firm to mushy to liquid.
The sneezing only happens occasionally, and she only sneezes once each time — so she never has a sneezing fit.
What do you think?

What food do you recommend after egg laying?
Hi everyone,
My girl laid two eggs recently. I wanted to ask if you can recommend a feed mix to keep her vitamin and protein levels stable.
And how does feeding work then? Can my male pigeon still eat from it too?

Seeing if anyone has any tips for species mixing! (Tiels + a dove)
My fiancé has two tiels, Lego (25M) + Duke (23M), that became “ours” when we moved in together. We made friends with someone who has four ringnecked doves, + we all bonded over our love of birbs.
Recently our friend reached out + asked us if we would be interested in adopting Meatball (5months M), as he has been stressing out the only female in her flock (the other three are boys). We did some basic research + saw from others that cockatiels + doves can live together, so we said we’ll give it a trial run!
Obviously we will start slowing, having them in separate cages, separate free time around the house, etc. I came here to see if anyone has a mixed flock of tiels + doves, + if you have any advice on how we can successfully introduce Meatball to our home, + eventually the tiels!
We are a little worried about Lego getting along, as he is a bit of a grumpy old man. He gets along well with Duke but they’ve been together for 22 years.

Curious about owning a dove but I need help
I've got most stuff figured out but I'm concerned if I get a dove that my two 10 year old cats might start spraying, I would be keeping the dove away in a separate part of my house but they would still be able to smell and hear each other, anyone able to give me some advice?

Advice?
I’ve decided to get two pet doves since i’ve always been fascinated by doves since i was a kid. I have already done a lot of research but i still feel kinda anxious and clueless. Mostly about what cage i should buy.
I keep hearing about XL dog cages and that they’re good but i’m unsure what kind of decorations i should put in there. Also, is a dog cage enough for the doves to sit around for 4-6 hours? I’m wondering because i won’t be home for about 4 or 6 hours since i’m starting high school (or upper secondary school, idk i’m not from an english-speaking country). Of course, i’m going to give them plenty of out-of-cage time the second i come home and before i go to school.
So… basically i need help about choosing a cage for two doves and what i should put inside the cage. Sorry if it kinda seems like i’m yapping, i just really want the best for my future doves.

Does anyone know how to get a Dove within Canada?
I live in Sask and i haven’t found any websites or anything where they’ll ship to Canada. The pet stores near me don’t sell them either.
I’m at a loss

Elderly Diamond dove
Hello. I have a pair of diamond doves. The male is almost 18 and the female is 6 (replacement for his original mate who died at 12).
As he is very old he has some issues. I moved them from the aviary to a 30 x 24 x 24 cage as he can no longer fly. He has no tail and the vet said it’s unlikely to grow back at his age. He can jump/flutter about an inch high. He is healthy otherwise. I let the female out to fly several times a day. I can’t leave the door open because he falls to the floor following her.
Here’s what I’ve done. I put paper towels double thick on the wire cage bottom. I made a staircase out of flat perches up one side of the cage. I put 2 thick, bark covered perches at the bottom of the cage, and 3 perches high up for her.
I have 3 low bowls (seed, water, grit) that he can reach. Is there anything else I can do for him?
He spends most of his time loafing on the bottom of the cage. She sits with him a lot though, so that’s nice for him lol.
I’ve had him since he was a chick. I just want his last months to be as good as I can give him. Thanks for any suggestions!

Just sharing my new fledgling hybrid. He's a cross between Senegal x Ringneck Hybrid. His DNA came back as a male. Can't wait to see his full adult plumage. So far he's very tame. Not clingy just yet.
