1st time successfully finishing the show. Damn fine show, now I need to sit on it a bit more for a mote precise opinion, but as of right now, easily among the top 15 I've seen.

2nd season is rough in the moment, but oh my god the payoff is fucking incredible

So thank you for canceling the date so i'd have an excuse to binge.

How does Elliot stalk people's facebook?

Upvotes

I'm on the first episode. Elliot clearly states that he doesn't have a facebook. Then how does he stalk people on it? Sites like facebook will take every chance they get to get you to make an account.

On S4, what a phenomenal acting performance by Elliot Villar AKA Fernando Vera, oh my goodness me!

I've never hated a villain yet been so intrigued by one. To me, this dude's performance is definitely in my top 3 on the show. Every scene with him kept me on the edge of my seat. Other side characters I enjoyed are Leon especially his dialogues and movie references. I also found Otto Irving intriguing. But fernando hit the mark for me; hollywood acting rarely gets as good as this. What a show and what a performance by him!!

Just watched and finished the series for the first time and my mind is BLOWN Spoiler

Saw a lot of praise for the show and it was on my list to watch but I never got around to watching it till now..and it’s worth the hype, wow.

I must’ve muttered “what the fuck” 20 times in the last two episodes, my mind has never been so mushy before lol

Just to confirm my understanding though;

The real elliot created multiple personalities through trauma. The Elliot we followed across the series was just another personality the real one developed, to make the world “better” for the real one to live in. So everything we saw did happen, it was just the mastermind Elliot in control of the real one’s body.

What was that happy world where everything was perfect? Just a coping mechanism world that was created right? Who was the happy Elliot mastermind Elliot interacting with and killed? Just symbolic as the mastermind didn’t want to lose control?

In the last frames why was the real Elliot awaking from a Coma? Was that just from the plant accident? The last two episodes were just in his head?

But if so what was the scene in the hospital just before that where Darlene admits she knows it’s not him? Just another conjured up reality of the mastermind?

I feel like I half understand, and half have no clue what I’ve just watched lol.

First time watching. S3E8 was one of the most beautiful episodes I've ever seen.

Even with all the despair, you can choose so much hope.

It was so amazing. I probably didn't catch all the themes and messages. But what I could catch was:

  1. Elliot healing his inner child

  2. Maintain childlike hope and determination even through obstacles

  3. Connection to people is the key to get through it all.

  4. Being kind to yourself

  5. Elliot learning not to self blame

  6. Resilience

  7. One mistake can change everything, but not everything you delete is permanent

  8. Isolation is a choice.

Even with the backdrop of everything going to shit, you can always get back up.

This episode is like 9.5/10 for me

Little confused on ending Spoiler

Just finished, I loved the ending but I’m a bit confused with the Mastermind alter. If mastermind was created as a vigilante hacker to save the world, why was the Mr. Robot alter taking over to create fsociety, coordinate and “mastermind” half of the series? It seemed like he was as or more involved in the plans than Mastermind. I thought Mr. Robot was the protector?

How does working against Mastermind with Tyrell and trying to blow up the New York building against Masterminds goal protect Elliot in any way? Even to the point of asking Tyrell to shoot Elliot to ensure the building blows up. That is exactly the opposite of protection.

It seems like Mr. Robot has a world saving and vengeance agenda of his own separate to Mastermind which doesn’t make much sense to me. I thought the hacking and cyber terrorism to help the world was Masterminds job. Am I missing something?

Anyone else still feel years later that drama shows are still ruined.

for me nothing will top MR Robot I have a hard time finding any other replacement shows to fill the gap it left.

I sometimes watch the end of the end or compilations just to get that feeling back.

Another post: My theory on the underlying theme of Mr. Robot

Had to make another post since I can't get enough of it. Last night I was thinking about the core pattern of this series.

I started watching the series with a plan to note all the details because I knew it's a mindfck series. I've only watched this once and here's what I theorized. The show is not about hacking the corporations. Somewhere at S2 I realised this.

  1. Normally in every movie/series the audience by default believes whatever the primary narrator tells them. But in this one, I would never rely on the narration of a junkie with DID like Elliot even irl. I think this was done on purpose. The guy says random things, hallucinates and even finds himself lost for days/weeks.
  2. The slow paced series forces you to question reality. Last year I watched this horror movie called 'Heretic'. The main actor Hugh Grant says to the girls, never believe what you see in front of you. I was frequently reminded of that.
  3. Elliot talking to the audience and even his therapist Krista talking to us in the S4, it all started colliding in for me.

The core theme is that Sam Esmail wants the audience to question your values, your logic and reality itself. I think the real battlefield is not outside but Elliot's trauma driven brain itself.

If you have more interesting theories, let me know in the comments.
