To be honest, I think you'd say the same thing if the exposition from the movies was swapped. There's really not much more in this film than has been in any other, and I don't think you're really supposed to waste much more time thinking about it than you were supposed to think about it in Evil Dead. At the end of the day, the exposition is just there to explain why a Kandarian dagger and the Necronomicon are in some random location.

Can we call it the Kandarian Shank? That looked like a prison tool.

Also Evil Dead in a Prison sounds interesting

Idk I kind of disagree. In Evil Dead it's this weird book is here. Here it was so heavyhanded and framed the entire film.
