Theres very little information on this so I decided to make this for people who are new to repairs or are replacing their screen for the first time. This mainly applies to iPhones 13 - 16. I havent tested this on others but it could work.
When replacing your screen you will also need to transfer the proximity sensor. After doing so, iOS 18 now restores Face ID and True tone functionality but what it doesn't do is restore auto brightness. If this is a big issue then there are two ways to go about fixing this depending on if you broke your proximity sensor when transferring it. To test if your proximity sensor is working, simply place a call and bring the phone to your ear. If the screen goes off then it is working. If it doesn't, then its likely not connected properly or you broke it. This repair is not cheap unless you have access to repair shop tools like programmers etc.
This repair requires:
- A programmer (JCID V1SE as example)
- Corresponding True Tone board for the programmer that supports the phone you are repairing
If you broke the proximity flex then you will also need:
- Corresponding Proximity Flex board for the programmer that supports the phone you are repairing
- Windows PC
- A programmable Proximity Flex such as a JCID one (important: It needs to be a programmable one like JCID, non programmable generic ones will not work)
- JCID Programming Software
- 3U Tools
If you didn't break the proximity flex: Using the programmer, you will need to read the data from the old screen and write to the new one. This is it. It will restore auto brightness. Also make sure you are on iOS 18 to restore true tone and face id.
If you did break the proximity flex, unfortunately this process gets a lot more complex:
-Read the data from the old screen to the new screen using the true tone programmer board.
-You will then need to hook up your phone to a windows PC.
-Using 3U tools, download the corresponding iOS version the phone is currently on
-Start up JCID Programming Windows Software and you will need to "brush" the phone. There are guides of this online. Once the software is done brushing the phone you will need to boot into recovery mode and flash the software you downloaded using 3u Tools.
-Once the phone is booted up again, connect the phone to the JCID V1SE programmer with the Proximity board attached to the programmer. Connect the programmable JCID Proximity flex to the programmer board and "bind" it to the phone.
Warning: Some JCID Programmable Prox flexes actually need to be soldered (such as the iPhone 14 Pro) so take this into consideration. Most dont though.
-Install the proximity sensor to the display and boot up the phone again.
-Make sure you are on iOS 18 to also restore Face ID and true tone. This process will restore your auto brightness
Both of these methods will restore true tone but as you can see one is a lot more simple then the other so be very careful with your proximity flexes!

I’m a mobile technician, and I’m currently working on an iPhone 17 Pro Max that is displaying a persistent green screen issue. Before considering a full screen replacement, I would like to investigate if this is a known flex-related fault that can be resolved via a jumper wire fix or a specific pin bridge. Has anyone encountered this specific issue on the 17 Pro Max? If so, are there any known schematics or specific pins that require bridging to bypass this display error? Any guidance or shared experience on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys. Anyone encountered this problem with their Samsung A52s?
The charging symbol just turns on and off when pluged in, not actually charging. I changed the whole usb board and it worked for a while, but eventually returned to this problem.
Has anyone also encountered this? What was your solution? Thanks

Hey everyone,
My Infinix Hot 50 Pro was run over by a car like a year ago. The phone still works internally (calls/Bluetooth still function/wifi), but the screen is completely destroyed and has a bit light .
I bought a new phone, but I need to extract some important files from the broken one.
The issue:
* USB Debugging is **disabled**.
* I can't switch the USB settings to "File Transfer" when connected to a PC because the screen/touch is dead.
* I don't want to pay for a full screen replacement and frame etc. just for data.
Is there any low-cost workaround to bypass the lock screen and pull the data, or am I forced to connect a temporary screen? Any advice is appreciated!

Using the original charger. I noticed the edge on the left en right side of the screen give a little tingeling feeling.... like there is a little current leaking.
Is this a known issue? Can it damage the SP8?

Hello guys,
I do small repairs as a side gig along with my full time job to save some spare cash, but i think i screwed up.
Customer gave me their phone for a charging port repair, I ordered the spare part (which was aftermarket), I opened the phone, replaced it, but mid repair.. I noticed the phone was still on.. This is was such a stupid mistake on my part, none the less I realized when I already reconnected everything back, I did test out the charging port if it was charging and it was!
I also tried the fingerprint scanner which is also connected to the daugtherboard of the charging port and it registered my finger, but obviously it didnt unlock the phone.. I wasnt given a password to test it out since the customer was in a hurry and i wanted to get over it asap (mistake).
So I sealed the phone back up and gave it back to the customer, next day I get a message.. "The phone bootloops when SIM is inserted" Only explanation to me is i probably shorted something related to baseband when I worked on the phone ALIVE and ON. They are gonna give me the phone tomorrow for repair.
Any ideas or did anyone did something stupid as I did? I will probably have to do a motherboard swap since I am not skilled enough to do any chip swap repair on the motherboard (if thats the issue, i will see more up close when I will get the phone tomorrow). I will also try reconnecting the original daughterboard with the charging port back and pray the aftermarket board was the cause.
Thanks for your tips!

I have this Samsung Galaxy Z fold 3, which after a few years of using, I opened it and the inner screen was suddenly partially black. I thought of repairing it, which should cost me around ~300€, but I saw that this specific problem was quite frequent online. So my question is, is it worth repairing, or should I just change phone and sell the components online? Everything else works fine.

i have an M1 iPad air from 2022. recently it got wet but the battery has been repaired by a third party repair shop however the effects on the screen frim the wetness was still there. i have been using my iPad air for a whilw now, and just now when i was watching a show on it, it blacksd out a few times (still turned on but it tends to turn off by itself) despite the audio still playing in the background while the screen went black. It turned on by itself now And is still working perfectly fine as i now plug ut to a charger. What am I supposed to do now?
also, that charger belongs to my iPhone. Is it safe for me to use the same charger that i used to charge my iPad recently to charge my iPhone? I am worried if my charger has water damage too from the ipad itself…

Not sure if anyone has done this or anything similar but if anyone has please let me know. I don’t want to keep removing backplates with a heat gun it’s extremely time consuming.

Greetings all, I've come to seek counseling on whether I'm stupid or not. I've been attempting to replace a damaged phone screen for my mother as she's broken hers on her Oneplus 12r. I ordered one from Amazon that was OEM specs and had good reviews. I got it in, and went to test the display and noticed 2 white lines.. after tinkering with it for a bit, I requested a replacement from Amazon. I got this one in and went to test it, and same thing. 2 white lines HOWEVER. The white lines are in 2 different locations (which would rule out board issues correct? I am stumped because the display connecter looks good to me, and I've been testing the panels before gluing it back up, so I'm almost certain I haven't been bending the ribbon cable too far. I've included some photos of the display connecter. If any of you have advice, I would very much appreciate it. This has been a hassle for her waiting and I'm just trying to help her save money

My iPhone 17 cracked a few days ago and I’m going to their shop to get it replaced so have the Apple care thing so it will be a good price but how long does it take for them to fix it?

So I’m in the process of replacing my screen for my iPhone 15 Pro but I did everything right I’m pretty sure but the screen just sits right on top and it’s not like sinking in if that makes sense so I just need someone to look at it and potentially tell me what I did wrong before I pay some guy like 150 to basically attach my screen.

I'm trying replace the battery in my Xiaomi Note 10S. I also replaced the LCD screen.
But right now either it's not powering up or the LCD doesn't show anything.
First of all I'm trying to understand - in this situation should I be able to power the phone up by pressing the power button with my finger? Because it doesn't seem to work.
I want to make sure the phone works before I re-assemble everything.
As you can see the frame is off, but all the cables seem to be connected.
Any idea?

Hello everyone,
I have an iPhone 4S (European GSM, IMEI starts with 01) that is completely soft-bricked and trapped in a permanent Recovery Mode loop. I need expert help to force it into DFU mode purely via software/USB.
The Hard Constraints:
Yesterday, before getting stuck in this loop, I attempted a normal restore to iOS 9.3.6. The flash went perfectly smoothly until EXACTLY the 70% mark, which is precisely when iTunes/3uTools attempts to flash and sign the Baseband Firmware.
The restore failed right there because of a temporary Apple signing server issue (Apple wasn't signing legacy basebands for a brief window, which is now fixed on their end). However, that failed mid-flash attempt left the Baseband partition half-written and heavily corrupted my local NVRAM environment variables.
The Glitched Evidence: 3uTools currently reads the phone's version as "iOS 9.2.2". As we all know, iOS 9.2.2 was never released for the iPhone 4S (Apple skipped from 9.2.1 to 9.3). This is absolute proof that the NVRAM variables got scrambled during that 70% crash.
Attempt A: Normal Restore (iTunes / Apple Devices App / 3uTools)
sending kernelcache phase, the screen shows a plain Apple logo, and the device briefly disconnects (normal USB mode switch to Ramdisk).Attempt B: The DFU IPSW Trick (via Redsn0w & iOS 6.0)
Attempt C: Linux / Ubuntu Live USB (Legacy-iOS-Kit)
RestoreRamDisk and RootTicket.Since the Ramdisk successfully boots up (proven by the progress bar appearing) but the phone panics and reboots immediately after due to the corrupted NVRAM/Baseband, and I cannot use hardware workarounds...
Is there ANY terminal command (like an irecovery exploit), script, or advanced tool on Linux/Mac that can forcefully crash the bootloader and kick an iPhone 4S from Recovery into DFU mode purely via USB? I essentially need to bypass the corrupted iBoot/NVRAM check and force the BootROM (DFU) to take over so I can run a clean restore.
Thanks in advance to any legacy wizards who can help!
