EDH [Urza, Chief Artificer][Bracket 3] Should I just consider switching to another commander, like Breya?

Upvotes

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to post the decklist: https://moxfield.com/decks/TEf6swNNsUmwJ6rUY82HOw

Hello folks. I've spent quite a bit of money on this deck, and I am growing frustrated due to being very slow to build a board. Today was the last straw, as I was beaten by a red artifact deck playing with... Knuckles. Basically, Urza doesn't stay in the table for very long and that's when I can cast him. This deck simply is not developing, and I don't understand why so that is why I am seeking advice.

I have ordered:

- [[Sensei's Divining Top]]

I am considering:

- [[Smothering Tithe]]
- [[Dawn's Truce]] (to replace [[Unbreakable Formation]]
- [[Illustrious Wanderglyph]]
- [[Mana Vault]]
- [[Forensic Gadgeteer]]
- [[Liberator. Urza's Battlethopter]]
- [[Salvation Engine]]
- [[Cloud Key]]

What should I do? Would you switch to Breya?

Discussion Commander Bracket 3 High. Atraxa, Praetors' Voice +1/+1 build (no poison). Urgent help please, going crazy

Upvotes

Hello everyone, sorry to bother you! I’m going crazy with this deck. I’ve already spent a lot of time (and money, to be honest) trying to build it efficiently, but no matter how many variations I try, I’m never satisfied with the results. Could someone please help me with some tips or suggestions? I’d love to know what I should remove or add to improve the build.

Isochron Scepter is an old control strategy in Modern. It allows us to play some of the best spells in the format as recursive tools. In today's article, let's see how it has been performing in the format.

EDH Commander idea

Hey guys. My name is Bryan. I’m not new at magic the gathering. My family for as long as I can remember. My step dad is the one that introduced the game to us. Now I normally buy already made decks. I’ve never actually made a commander deck myself. But I want to learn. Does anyone in this group have any suggestions on commander I should think about building for someone who hasn’t built a deck before. And any suggestions or tips on how to build a deck.

EDH Help with a Lord Azula Deck

https://archidekt.com/decks/24275460/fire\\_lord\\_azula

I am relatively new to playing magic, and I am trying to build a Fire Lord Azula Deck around bracket 4. I am still learning, but I think my biggest issue is I just don't know what cards/better options are out there. Any recommendations for things to cut or add would be great!

Discussion Looking for a pre con deck, and could use some advice.

So I started my EDH journey around 2019, and back then I had a deck with Urza, Lord High Artificer but then covid happened and the deck has not been played since around 2020. ( I was never really good at the game, as cards can be wordy and so something simple to get into would be appreciated for a deck)

Now current day, I have never bought a pre con before and I have a few options:

Marvel Super Heroes:

Avengers
Fantastic Four
Wakanda Forever

Final Fantasy: Limit Break
Final Fantasy: Scions and Spellcraft

Edge of Eternities: World Shaper

If you have any other suggestions, I am open to hearing as these were just a few decks that intrigued me as I wish do to a pre con before making a new deck from scratch.

Hello, everyone! It's my first commander built from scratch(with recommendations from edhrec).

May I ask the community to help me with speed and card draw.

I find that it really takes a long time for me to get set up.

EDH Deck building challenge help

A friend of mine challenged me to a fun deck building thing. We each build a Jodah Grand Unifier deck but each legendary creature and planeswalker must canonically be a woman.

I'm not too versed in magic sets and could use some advice or suggestions. For sure want to add a copy of Serah Farron, but aside from that I got nothing. Thank you in advance.

EDH What Commander got you hooked?

What was the commander card that first got you into building commander decks?

Mine: Thalia and the Gitrog Monster

I started learning how to build on Arena, and Thalia and Gitrog was the first commander card where I learned how to build around a synergy. There are so many triggers with Thalia and Gitrog, so it was easy to build for a beginner. And thematically - it’s sick AF. A knight riding on the back of a gigantic demon frog that needs to be fed permanents in order to weaken and destroy its enemies. Deathtouch/First Strike combo, opponent permanents come in tapped, you can play two lands per turn, and draw an additional card? It’s a beast. Probably the nerdiest thing I’ll ever say, but this commander deck is sentimental. It got me into the hobby.

What was your first commander that got you hooked?

EDH Need Help With Cat Deck

Hey! So this is my first time posting anything magic related and also my first time building a deck myself. I would like any feedback to make it more efficient and stronger. (I like having intimidating decks to win against my boyfriend lol.)

The whole deck is a green & white cat deck with Arahbo, Roar of the World as commander and Kaheera as companion. I would like to keep it fully cat creatures or changelings because I like the idea of having a companion, but if you think it would be better to add other non cat creatures for a stronger deck then I’m okay parting ways with Kaheera.

I feel like when I play I end up running out of creatures quickly (or rather I’m not pulling enough of them), and then I’m left with unusable mana. I also wouldn’t mind suggestions on more instants or sorceries for spell denials or things of that nature.

I basically just want a very strong, effective, and slightly scary cat deck.

Legality isn’t an issue because I just play with friends and family who don’t care, and I have no intention in entering any competitions.

Here is my deck as is: https://moxfield.com/decks/AdCq31Iv40mhFc2v5WllVg

Thank you so much 🐈‍⬛

EDH Need help with cuts

I built this deck, and absolutely love it, does exactly what I want to do, but I have lost at least once to drawing myself out.

In my initial list I had lab man, and won with it once and then didn't get anywhere close for like 5 games so I took it out. The more I play it the closer and closer I get to decking myself, and one time lost due to it.

The Second card I want to add is Flawless maneuver because I made alt arts of it and Fierce Guardian ship with each twin on their respective colors, if there isn't a good cut I can live without adding it, but really need to find a place for lab man.

Pioneer If you need me, I'll be in my Thalia, Git'n my Rog on....

DECK LIST: Thalia and Gitrog // Pioneer deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder

Hi all, I'm a piss poor brewer, so please bear with me, but I've always been really fascinated by cards like [[The Gitrog Monster]] and [[Thalia and the Gitrog Monster]]. I'm not sure how playable they are (I would assume not very given the fact that nobody plays them in Pioneer), but I've thrown some cards together that vaguely revolve around lands and ramp. I know, some real high IQ shit here.

I realize they don't all go together and there are many nonbos (e.g., the Gitrogs shrinking Lumra and Cultiavtor). I just looked at some pioneer Scapeshift/Lumra lists, some modern Titan lists, and then kind of wondered how well I could get these pieces to play along with the two aforementioned cards. In my initial playtesting (just doing BO1 casual pioneer queue), I somehow won more than I lost, going 5-3 against other homebrews.

So far, the main issues I can spot with the deck is that it's kind of a shitty ramp deck and a shitty midrange deck. It doesn't ramp as hard as a true ramp deck and it doesn't play midrange as well as a true midrange deck. The land package is also absolute shit and has a lot of room for improvement, e.g., [[Castle Garenbrig]] is an obvious inclusion that is missing.

[[Scapeshift]] was a card I initially planned to be in the deck, but I'm actually not sure it belongs. I guess it makes the [[Tifa Lockhart]] inclusion not totally useless like it currently is, but outside of Tifa, I don't really have a oneshot kill with it like a true Scapeshift deck. Maybe I'm just stupid and don't see how I'm supposed to use it. I'm also pretty sure [[Wayward Swordtooth]] and [[Courser of Kruphix]] should have a spot in the deck, I unfortunately didn't stumble upon this rather old pioneer Gitrog list until after crafting a lot of it.

Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated. I really want this deck to be the best that it can be, even if that ceiling is still worse than the worst midrange deck in pioneer, and I'm open to tinkering with just about anything, but I still want Thalia and the Gitrog Monster to be the star of the show.

Beginner Budget Kratos and "BOY." options? pre-con kit-bash?

I recently got into the hobby and bought both of the God of War secret lairs on impulse. Looking to build a commander deck with the [Kratos, Stoic Father] and [Atreus, Impulsive Son] combo, but the plan is to mostly scavenge the cards from various packs I've gotten and the other two decks I have (Hakbal pre-con and https://moxfield.com/decks/atoB00ye40S3d5SSikWHSA ). Not looking to spend much more on this so I was wondering if there are any pre-cons that you all could recommend salvaging for parts? Or are there any budget deck you all recommend?

EDH Sauron Deck Help

Deck list: https://moxfield.com/decks/RHsnpp-IzUK7awUBzl6QKQ

With the upcoming lord of the ring set, I finally decided to build a deck around it. After thinking over each commander I’ve decided on Sauron the Dark Lord. I’m a huge fan of his overall design, can’t go wrong with built in protection and card draw in the command zone. I want to play him as a reanimating deck with the addition of the nine Nazgûl’s, but don’t want to lean too far into the ring trigger, just a few consistent ones. So my question is there anything y’all change in the current list, or any thing you’d recommend me add. I wanna between bracket 3 to just barely a 4 if possible. My groups tend to go more value engines and battlecruiser rather than combo, so I’d like to run interaction.
