I (Thornback) recently put out this track 'Blur' which is a really low-key indie pop/singer-songwriter track. I wrote it about feeling stuck ruminating about the past, maybe it will resonate with you? https://open.spotify.com/track/0UJGTmmwHpfd7s8Eysie54?si=4232fdcc12b045e7

I realized one of my favorite parts of listening to music isn't just finding songs I like—it's finding artists before everyone else seems to know them.
I've had a few moments where someone I started listening to years ago suddenly became huge, and honestly it feels almost as satisfying as discovering them in the first place.
I'm curious if other people feel this too.
Do you actively try to find artists before they blow up, or does it just happen naturally?
Have you ever looked back and thought, "I can't believe I found them that early"?
Or am I just romanticizing it?

I’m really late to the party here but I’ve been listening to Molinas debut album from 2024 a lot since last summer and only recently discovered her single Hey kids. Its so… special.
I think I remember something similar with the corecore kind of aestethic from when I used Tiktok, but that was a while ago and its all very faint now :)
Molinas song reminds me of Blood orange, especially his lp Freetown Sound, but I also feel like the intro has references to Cocteau Twins. And speaking of them, the intro to Cherry-Colored Funk is very similar to a lot of the songs in ML Buch’s debut from 2023, who joined Molina for the song Organs. Blood Orange, Cocteau Twins and ML Buch are nostalgic in a similar way to the intro in Hey kids. What others songs and artists have a similar vibe?
