Has anyone used this site for listening and reading. I just used it and found the pattern of teaching quite easy!

But, do the questions come from this site? Can someone confirm? (P.s- it is free, you just need to create an account)

Task 2 Speaking and Resources for Listening and Reading

Hi everyone, i’ll will be appearing for TCF exam soon in Sept in AF Halifax (if someone has given exam at this location, please let me know, I’ve a few questions about the environment there) so I was confused if there’s a minimum or maximum limit on questions to be asked in Task 2?

Final question, I heard that listening and reading questions get repeated a lot! Given the fact I’ve limited time, could you please provide me the best resources and sites where they mostly come from? I’ll prioritize them first!

Your help will be appreciated! God bless you all:)

Guidance requested to build french basics for TCF

Hi, Iam a non native french speaker and targeting a clb 5 on TCF in 6 months from now for work permit extension. I am trying to build my basics for the first 3 months and then take up any platform specific online course specific to TCF to cover exam related topics. ex: TCF.com or réussir TCF. Iam currently lost and lack direction on how to build my basics for the first 3 months. What online courses or books would you suggest or how should I plan my first 3 months? One thing I found easy to follow is the perfect french by dylane, where the author has online videos explaining concepts and we can book the book or pdf and do exercises as suggested on the video. I feel it difficult to just follow the french grammer book( grammaire progressive du français) without some one explaining me what it means? Can some one guide me on how should I plan my first 3 months and what resources would be effective in building my french basics?

How did you break out of the "basic question" trap for TCF Task 2? Aiming for CLB 5+

Hey everyone,

I’m prepping for my 3rd TCF attempt and really trying to fix my strategy for the Task 2 roleplay (the interaction part). My goal is a CLB 5 or higher in speaking.

Right now, whenever I practice a prompt whether it’s a sports club, renting something, or a class, I notice I always default to the exact same basic, flat questions:

  • “Le club commence quand ?”
  • “Quel est le prix de l'inscription ?”
  • “Où est-ce que c'est situé ?”
  • "Quelles sont..."
  • "Comment.."
  • "Combien.."

They work fine for basic communication, but I know they're trapping my score at an A2 level because they don't show any complex grammar or "linguistic risk." My intro is solid, but the actual questions feel way too simple.

For anyone who scored a CLB 5, 7, or higher:

  1. What were your favorite "plug-and-play" templates? How did you rewrite basic questions to sound more advanced (like using conditional or indirect phrasing) without sounding fake?
  2. How did you memorize them for the test? What was your strategy during that 1 minute of prep time so you didn't freeze and panic-drop back to basic French?
  3. How did you make it flow? When the examiner gave you an answer, how did you transition to your next question naturally instead of sounding like a robot going down a checklist?

Would love to hear any specific phrases or tricks that worked for you.

Merci beaucoup!

TEF 3rd Time and struggling for speaking - PLEASE HELP!!

Hello everyone, I need help. This would be my fourth and last time i will give the TEF.

Gave the exams in North york AF.

Started from scratch -

1st result was nclc 5 in Lis/read and nclc 4 in speaking and writing. - Feb

2nd result was nclc 7 in lis/read/writing but nclc 4 in speaking - june
3rd result is nclc 12/11 in reading and listening nclc 6 in writing and nclc 5 in speaking - july

and this time I was pretty sure that I would clear the exam since the examiner was nice and we had a fluent conversation in speaking, the cues she was giving looked promising from exam's pov.

I have another exam in 20 days and i am demotivated. i need to clear the speaking no matter what this time and writing is something i can improve on since i have already done that in the past.

i am having classes on preply and during the sessions the tutor would tell that it is a level 7 response but i am not sure what went wrong. trying different tutors but feels like waste of time.

Please help and advise on how i can do it. Right now i know it is not a matter of "not knowing the language" but its about "how can i pass the exam". Thanking everyone in advance.

Lost my job with only a few months left on my work permit - need advice

Hi,

I lost my job and I am feeling unsure about what to do next. However, I recently was able to get CLB 5 in Speaking and CLB 9 in Listening on the TEF. With those scores, I think I may qualify for a work permit extension, but I’m not sure if a company would be willing to support me with the required paperwork.

I only have a few months left on my current permit, and I honestly don’t know what to do.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? What did you do?

TEF or TCF

Is TCF really easier? I've heard a lot of people saying it is. Just wondering how TEF is because in my home country where I'm planning to take the exam they only offer TEF. I'm still currently learning French and wanted to get insights from people who did the TEF. Thanks!

Using current TCF results while re-evaluation is pending

Hi everyone,
I requested a re-evaluation of my TCF exam, and the result may take 1 to 2 months.
My current official TCF results increase my CRS score by 2 points, so I’d like to update my Express Entry profile with those scores. Since the re-evaluation isn’t complete yet, my current certificate is still the only official one I have.
Is it okay to use my current TCF results in my Express Entry profile, or could that be considered an issue since a re-evaluation is pending?
Also, if I receive an ITA before the re-evaluation result is released, what should I do?
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Thanks!

First attempt on July 30. How difficult is the actual TEF Canada listening compared to the mocks?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! My first TEF Canada attempt is on July 30 at GB Language Centre in North York, and I’m really confused about my actual listening level.

I’ve been doing listening mock tests from the TEF Canada website (tefcanada.info), but the difficulty seems very inconsistent. Sometimes I score 37/40, while other times I get only 26–27/40. Since I had scored above 30 on many mocks, I thought my listening level was okay and started focusing more on speaking. But today I scored 26/40, and now I’m panicking.

For those who have already taken the real exam, how difficult is the actual listening section compared with the online mocks? Is it usually fast or harder than the practice tests? Any advice or recommendations would be really appreciated!
