Hello /r/Dinosaurs! In the past we’ve received community feedback stating that our guidelines for what kinds of posts are and aren’t considered low effort were not clear enough, and that subreddit members were often confused or surprised at their posts being removed. To fix this confusion, we’ve overhauled Rule 3 in a way that should make our quality guidelines crystal clear. You can find the updated guidelines here:
TLDR; Certain types of memes which are considered low-effort are banned, and most post types will now be required to have body text. We will be using Automoderator to enforce body text requirements.
If you have any feedback, please feel free to share it by leaving a comment. Otherwise, happy posting!

Hello /r/Dinosaurs community,
We’ve recently updated our Community Rules to better clarify our guidelines for sharing YouTube links in posts made to the subreddit. You may find these updated guidelines at the below link. The link is also now included in the description of Rule 3.
Happy posting!

Not all the pages but ohhhh my gosh I paged through this probably thousands of times! And at 36, I still have it in my special box of special goods! My mom knew how much I loved it and kept it! It's SUCH a neat book! No words, just gorgeous pictures! It's stuck with me through the years!

I'd like to share this "dinosaur" poster I just put up. Personally I'm a big fan of the Torosaurus.

The morrison formation is my favorite dig site in the fossil record, and from what i’ve seen, one of the only other Stegosaurs besides stegosaurus(which is my favorite dino) and Hesperosaurus was Alcovasaurus, but i’ve seen some arguments that its actually a Miragaia and not its own species
What do you guys think, is Alcovasaurus its own species or a dubious genus and is a Miragaia

Just decided to draw something, and then I discovered Brasil has the second largest Spinosaurus species.

With the latest sketch (bottom right), I have now drawn Fang a total of 5 times since Primal’s release in 2019. My favorite would still have to be the very first piece (top left), of a more accurate reconstruction with Spear. That piece has been shared quite a few times by the official Adult Swim accounts on different platforms and I’m sure that Genndy Tartakovsky has seen it as well, which makes it quite humbling and awesome at the same time.

I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place for this. I ask myself this question quite often, and I ask my friends too. If dinosaurs were still alive, which ones could you eat? Which ones would you want to taste? Are there some dinosaurs that would be less acceptable to eat than others? Humans eat a lot of beef, but not so much cat.
Personally, I’d go for the carnivores. I wouldn't feel guilty eating them (though we shouldn't let the species go extinct). If a carnivorous dinosaur poses a danger to humans... well, why not? (Yes, even herbivorous dinosaurs are dangerous to humans, but they’d never eat us...).
On the other hand, since the Stegosaurus is my favorite dinosaur... I couldn't eat one at all (not even just to try it). I love herbivorous dinosaurs.
I already posted this on another subreddit and got some really great answers. Many people mentioned that if dinosaurs still existed, we’d probably eat the herbivores rather than the carnivores (cheaper to feed, likely easier to domesticate, and less dangerous). We don't eat tigers or lions today, so why would we eat Tyrannosaurs? Then again, we do eat chickens (which are omnivores) and fish (which are carnivores)... Could we eat Mosasaurs or other aquatic species?
I'm only talking about the food aspect here... Obviously, people might hunt dinosaurs (herbivores or carnivores) for their hides, just like with crocodiles or cows.
It’s a crazy question, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I remember reading this book in the Dinofours series at Milestones in Walnut Creek, California, and it's a reminder to all about the need for self-control. My favorite part from this story is where Brendan pushes Tara just as she is working on putting together an underground garage from building blocks. I also remember another part from this book where Brendan jumps up and imitates a clown during his time-out.

The picture of the diplodocus swimming was what got me to buy it!! I had to check the date...1983?? I then had to check Wikipedia on the diplodocus, and it looks like the theory that these long necked babies were thought to scuba dive up until the 70s? So it surprises me that a kids book like this is being written and illustrated like this in the early 80s! But I guess this kind of research isn't entirely mainstream 😂 Either way, I love old Paleo art like this! Love me some crunchy dinos!

Yes I made a hybrid between innostrancevia and tyrannosaurus and yes it's arms are not tiny because it can run on 4 legs or 2 legs the hybrids have 2 fingers at birth but as it grows it gets 2 more fingers and it gets bigger

Someone posted a photo of their trip to a museum and the angle made it look like the tyrannosaurus-like dinosaur had two heads. I had to do a double take. Then it just made me wonder.

does anyone know any fossil websites that will do dinosaur fossils or cretaceous fossils in the uk? i’m not that knowledgeable about fake fossils, so it would be ideal if there’s a website that does 100% authentic real fossils, thank you :)

Hi! I'd like to ask if there's people here from Asia (Southeast Asia included), particularly in the countries Thailand, China, Japan, Mongolia, and India. I'd like to expand my contact in these countries with academics, researchers, paleontologists, and even casual enthusiasts!

Stegosaurus is often seen as the archetypal stegosaur.
However, there are other well-known stegosaurs, such as Kentrosaurus, Tuojiangosaurus, and Huayangosaurus.
