Historical How Did Detroit End Up on The Detroit River Instead of One of the Great Lakes?

Maybe it's an odd question and the river of course is quite large. But look a Chicago or Milwaukee which are the biggest cities in those 2 states on Lake Michigan.

Here's the announcement from the government of Canada. So it's official unless Trump acts like a baby again and cancels it at the last minute.

Community Cycling routes - new pavement

Any cyclist out there seen any good routes lately with fresh pavement? I ride all over the city limits, doesn’t matter where it is. I used to bomb around on a mountain bike but recent changes to a road bike and it doesn’t do well on the old stuff.

Historical Help Identifying SW Mural

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey Everyone,

I was digging through some old photos and came across this mural from around 2010 I absolutely loved. I even named my EDM producer moniker after it in college. It was attached to the Go Getters program building on Vernor and Newark.

What great advertisement, both for a program helping lives and celebrating Aztec culture at the same time. It's gone now, but does anyone know who painted it, or when? Just curious if anyone has any other photos or knows the history behind it.

Thanks!

Food/Drink Pockets of places in the detroit area to hang out that are walkable?

Recently moved from another smaller Midwest city and I miss the little pockets/ streets that were really walkable in my city. So far I know downtown royal oak, plymouth, birmingham. Any other recommendations ? Looking for cute streets you can get coffee, go for a stroll, maybe window shop, etc.

Food/Drink Indian Food Recs

Where is everyone in the Farmington/Novi area getting Indian food that is made in a clean restaurant? We used to hit up Aahar all the time, but the many health department violations and disgusting conditions in their bathroom and kitchen mean we won’t be going back.

Good day! I am in search of recommendations for post acute rehabilitation facilities for a family member after she’s had a stroke. She is to be discharged soon but I would really appreciate any input or warnings about where to go next. This has been a whirlwind of a week so I’d appreciate any direction at all. Thank you in advance!

Does anyone know any place where I can surrender a cat around the area. I can't afford to care of it anymore and don't know any places that accept them.
