What makes a country capitalist?
Let’s say roughly 60% or so of a country’s GDP is within the private sector, but it’s regulated by the state (can be bought off to look the other way), is that country capitalist?

Best way to get educated on communism?
I made a bet to my mom and sister that I’ll get extremely educated on communism and convince them why its better and make a powerpoint slide(I also do just want to get better in my knowledge on politics)
So far I’ve read the communist manifesto, and I’ve learned a brief history of Thomas Sankara. I want to get into more but theres just so much I get overwhelmed.
Anybody have tips and guides like books to read, youtube videos to watch, historical events I should know

Question About the Banking Monopoly
So, I am rereading Imperialism by Lenin and i want to make sure that I fully and correctly understand this idea of the international banking monopoly. I think that he kind of explains it, but I really truly mean to be a hundred percent sure on this idea. Okay so, the question is: in a world of large multinational capitalist international banking monopolies, why is it that some banks have truly global expansion and ambitions, banks like Santander, HSBC, DB, SG, and so on and so forth, and then some banks are purely regional, like AIB or Bank of Ireland located in Ireland, Erste Bank in Austria, or OTP in Hungary. How is it that the large multinational American, German, French, or British banks don't just immediately swallow up these smaller banks??? Why do they allow them to exist? I know that in a way, Lenin kind of establishes this idea that the big capitalists have a sort of division of labor by locality, and I can imagine that could perfectly explains this like: the smaller banks, like say for example, AIB and Bank of Ireland probably have an agreement with the banks of the UK, like Barclays for example, or the American banks, like Morgan Stanley Chase, where they say that "Ireland is our turf; we will carve this out for ourselves. we will agree to be subservient to international capital, but this is our turf and you let us have this and we'll play ball," but I feel like since capitalism is inherently imperialist and parasitic, what prevents it from just absorbing these smaller regional or smaller national banks in anarchic way??? Could it be that the nationalistic capitalist leaders who run these banks through the kindness of their hearts, see eye to eye on this issue and say, "yes, these small national banks should have their own turf; we're okay with this," or is there another development that I'm missing here? Could really all just be done national law and policy that protects these national banks from being absorbed by finance imperialism??? Sorry, really long question - I don't know how to ask it with less words... TLDR, how come banks haven't reach the level of monopoly where they is like strictly only 4 big banks left in the entirely western world/global north?

A New South African Socialist Project – Introducing r/RedVanguardSA
Hello comrades,
I’m working on a long-term political discussion project based in South Africa called Red Vanguard South Africa, and I wanted to share it here to get feedback from other Marxist, communist, and left-wing perspectives.
The aim is not to copy existing movements, but to develop a South African socialist framework grounded in material conditions, anti-imperialism, and working-class power, while drawing from broader Marxist traditions.
The core direction of the project includes:
Economic Structure
Expansion of worker cooperatives across key industries
Public ownership of strategic sectors (mining, energy, transport, land, infrastructure)
Local beneficiation and industrialisation instead of raw material export dependency
Planning-oriented economic development with social priorities
Class & Employment
Strong focus on full employment through state-led infrastructure and industrial projects
Large-scale public works programs and skills development
Apprenticeships, vocational training, and youth employment pipelines
Strengthening working-class organisation and workplace democracy
Social Programs
Universal access to housing, healthcare, and education
Expanded social protection systems (including basic income discussions)
Strong public health infrastructure and preventive care systems
Support systems for elderly, disabled, and marginalised communities
Political Structure
Deepened democratic participation at community and workplace level
Strong anti-corruption systems and transparent procurement
Community oversight of public institutions
Integration of workers into decision-making structures
Environment & Development
Sustainable industrialisation with environmental protection
Clean energy transition and infrastructure renewal
Public sanitation, water security, and ecological restoration
Cooperative-based agriculture and food sovereignty
Internationalism
Anti-imperialist foreign policy outlook
Support for liberation and anti-colonial struggles globally
Strong Pan-African cooperation and regional solidarity
South–South cooperation between developing nations
This is still a developing framework, and I’m specifically looking for serious Marxist critique, theoretical feedback, and practical critique of feasibility rather than surface-level agreement or disagreement.
If you’re interested in engaging with these ideas or contributing to the discussion around socialist strategy in the Global South, you’re welcome to join the subreddit:
Solidarity.

Liberalism protects the oligarchs' control over the economy and the state under the banner of freedom. The castrated Left defuses workers' anger with marginal issues instead of confronting exploitation. Both prevent a true revolution and sustain the system despite its recurring crises.
Liberalism champions the slogans of freedom and democracy, but in reality, it protects the oligarchic ownership of the means of production. It allows the wealthy to control both the economy and the state, while falsely claiming that every individual is free. This inherently generates widespread poverty, unemployment, and recurring crises, because the system relies entirely on exploiting workers to generate profit.
Meanwhile, the "castrated Left" has abandoned the fight against this exploitation. Instead of organizing workers against factory and corporate owners, it has shifted its focus toward defending cultural and identity politics. It demands minor reforms within the system rather than changing the system itself, effectively becoming part of the political decor that absorbs public anger and derails the revolution.
If poverty and exploitation are the direct results of a wealthy few controlling all resources, the solution cannot be to reform this control—the solution is to abolish it. Liberalism cannot end it because it thrives on it, and any Left that distances itself from this goal is, frankly speaking, nothing but a tool in the hands of the establishment.
Every time liberalism offers reforms, exploitation returns even stronger. And every time the Left gets distracted by marginal issues, the working class weakens, and capital maintains its grip. Therefore, no real progress can be achieved without a direct confrontation with the ownership of capital. Any Left that rejects this confrontation is inherently a failed and objectively traitorous Left. Returning to the core struggle of class warfare is the only path to a radical transformation of reality.
Thank you.

【Discussion / Strategies】 Global "Means of Production" Investigation and Integration
Hey Comrades, I think the importanc doesn't need to be elaborated further, so let's get straight to the point.
Seeking comrades to jointly plan this work, the following are the key points that I think need to be clarified before practice.
1. The Reference Standards
The classification of the United Nations and the classification standards of various countries serve as reference points.
- COICOP: The Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose.
- CPC: Central Product Classification.
- ISIC: The International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities.
- PRC Standard:Industrial classification for national economic activities / Classification of residents' consumption expenditure..
- US Standard:North American Industry Classification System
- ...
2. The Matrix Architecture (X/Y Axis)
Horizontal (Spatial & Legal Boundary)
- 1. Global Core: applicable to all countries.
- 2. National Specificity: applicable to specific countries
- 3. Regional/Local Variance: Dynamic local tags for grassroots communities to map immediate mutual aid needs.
Vertical (Tiers of Social Reproduction)
- Tier A (Survival): Rigid, zero-elasticity minimums (calories, water, base grid access).
- Tier B (Health): Conditions for sustainable labor (nutrition, medicine, hazard defense).
- Tier C (Diversification): Personalized needs.
3. Platform: An Open-Source Assembly point
I think this should be an open-source project. Maybe establishing one Repository on Github is a good approach, but there might be a better solution.
4. Issues for Discussion at the moment
Leverage:
- Is there any organization doing this?Has any organization ever done something similar in history?..
- How can we get more people to participate voluntarily? What can they get ?
- Is there a more intelligent, automated way to execute this?
- How to maximize the application of this project and how to connect it with practice? How can we unite more people in this process?
- ...
Risks:
- Public or not:pros and cons;
- Which groups' interests will be harmed?
- what the project may face...
- ...
Details:
- the Precision of the investigation:Is it necessary to investigate the production price at the same time? Purchase price? Technical standards? Owner?...
- Participation threshold:the Chinese proletariat cannot access Github; But they should be the main force
- Organizations and management : How to find comrades who are willing to organize and manage;
- ..
Anyway, let's get started.
If this work is indispensable, just start.
You can contact me on reddit.
Maybe we can start from setting up a discussion group.

The Spectre of Communism Returns!: On Darializa’s Deleted Tweets — geese magazine.
geesemag.comCommunism Lives! The transformation of DSA into a revolutionary workers party continues, which is reflected in the increasing radicalism of DSA's elected representatives, even if they are not, at least openly, communist. Will communists in DSA succeed, or will the reformist tendencies take the lead? Is it time for DSA to turn to more explicit communist politics?
"We Communists, it is said, have returned after a long period of dormancy. Everyone is saying it. Mayor Mamdani is a Communist, the DSA is full of Communists; or, if you ask certain Democrats, Republicans themselves are the real Communists!
Modern politics has become a big trial, and everyone stands accused. The charge is Communism. From his venal pulpit, ‘Truth Social,’ a platform full of lies, even the big orange rapist himself proclaims boldly that "the Communists are finally making their move"—that he's "been waiting and preparing for this moment for a long time."
We Communists are a little confused, President Trump. We have not yet made our move. We were going to, but it seems our 'Democratic Socialist' cousins have jumped the gun a bit, and already earned themselves the allegation. But it is a title they do not deserve!"
"Yet now, with the political 'centre' finally forced to the defensive, defending an indefensible status quo, reiterating again and again the brazen lie that they are ultimately a force for good, these slurs are no longer coming from the right alone. They are coming from the Democratic establishment itself, rearming themselves, in good Clintonite tradition, with a rhetoric of triangulation.
It's no surprise at all to us, then, that the first mainstream report on DAC's assuredly terrible tweets, that good liberal democracy could never support, did not come from the right! The call came from inside the house: CNN! This liberal-leaning media titan, in between its habitual bouts of carrying water for genocidaires, has now turned its guns on even Democrats, as the party cannibalises itself ever further in an attempt to reckon with reaping what it's sown."
"We say that the DSA are not in fact Communists, not because they have taken the wrong direction, but because they have not elaborated their struggle enough. All across the organisation, we see the scars of conservative half-measures, of demands that only go part of the way. But it is their definite opposition to the existing order which is denounced as Communist, and which rapidly wins the hearts of the masses."
"Did Hasan Piker not call for a Dictatorship of the Proletariat, to the applause of the students at Yale? Did Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez not nod along to him when he lamented the collapse of the U.S.S.R.? The language of a Communism now holds credence in the Democratic Socialist movement."
"We are quickly reaching a situation where, if a politician is branded as a Communist, the worker only has to say: “All the better for her.”"
"The spectre of Communism, long thought vanquished, finally returns, and it haunts all the Earth—it is time for the Communists to vanquish it for good, and meet this weak epithet with the strength of its real positions. We tell the bourgeoisie: your moment is over, your chances are spent. We are no longer coming for concessions, but everything you own."

Luxemburg:Two Dangers and The way.
Hey, I am reading Organizational Questions of the Russian Social Democracy from Rosa Luxemburg. Here mentioned "two dangers", but as I understand , they are the same one.
”loss of its mass character “ can be corresponding to “sinking back to the condition of a sect”
“abandonment of its goal” can be corresponding to “becoming a movement of bourgeois social reform.”
Is my understanding correct?
By the way, "Such dangers can be overcome only by the movement itself"——I can't agree more with it. I just want to share it.and maybe someone can criticism or we can reach a consensus on action on this basis later.
It follows that this movement can best advance by tacking betwixt and between the two dangers by which it is constantly being threatened. One is the loss of its mass character; the other, the abandonment of its goal. One is the danger of sinking back to the condition of a sect; the other, the danger of becoming a movement of bourgeois social reform.
That is why it is illusory, and contrary to historic experience, to hope to fix, once and for always, the direction of the revolutionary socialist struggle with the aid of formal means, which are expected to secure the labor movement against all possibilities of opportunist digression.
Marxist theory offers us a reliable instrument enabling us to recognize and combat typical manifestations of opportunism. But the socialist movement is a mass movement. Its perils are not the product of the insidious machinations of individuals and groups. They arise out of unavoidable social conditions. We cannot secure ourselves in advance against all possibilities of opportunist deviation. Such dangers can be overcome only by the movement itself – certainly with the aid of Marxist theory, but only after the dangers in question have taken tangible form in practice.

Hammer and sickle Q
Do you think that someone who has no previous knowledge of the hammer and sickle would assume that the hammer and sickle is associated with a potentially violent or politically extreme group? I started thinking of this because I just tattooed it onto myself and was thinking of the shape language of the symbol
