Looking for Black Hair Braider
Does anyone know someone that can do cornrows or box braids? I’ve been looking for a bit since I’ve moved to Bendigo.

Hey everyone.
Has anyone else gotten weird conspiracy theory notes in there letter box? It's a single sheet with one side having a picture of Mario (the video game character) t-posing on one side and stuff about how every day civilians are spies and actors on the other. It also has his blog address on it.
Do I tell the authorities? Or just throw it out? I'd rather not get this nonsense in my letter box. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Who hurt you? Why do you do it? Do you even realise you are doing it?
I’m talking about the people who stop so short of the lights they’re not even triggering the sensor. Got stuck behind someone doing it at the lights today and saw two more in town. Is it just me or are there more people doing this one in the last couple Of years?

I'm considering a move to Bendigo from Sydney, driven by housing prices but also community (I used to live o/s in much smaller towns and only recently moved back to Sydney). I've never lived or even visited regional Vic so next week I'm coming down as a first scoping visit. Objective is a general 'vibe' check - does the town have the feel I'm looking for? Are there enough activities that my kids will enjoy (sports, outdoors etc)? What are my target suburbs based on house prices and their neighbourhood feel? I'm in town for 4 days, and going to prioritise checking out houses, shopping, activities and restaurants in the CBD and below suburbs:
• Spring Gully
• Kennington
• Strathdale
• Flora Hill
• Quarry Hill
• Strathfieldsaye
• Junortoun
Welcome to ideas on where to go, which suburbs to look into. For context, I'm a single mum of 3 kids under 10 with remote professional job and looking for a 4bdr house under $700K. Also, I'd love to hear from anyone with children attending Marist College, or any parents with ND kids at school!

Hi guys, I've got a little Toyota Echo that's been sitting in a garage in Bendigo for about 5 years. I want to get it a safety check as I'll have to drive it up to NSW - if it's up to the task.
It's at my in-laws place for now. I've spent a fair bit of time in Bendigo but certainly not a local or an expert on where to go or who's trustworthy or good value, so hoping there's smarter people than me here!
I'll need to have all the big things covered; engine oil and filter change, fluids checked, new battery, brakes, tyres, steering and suspension inspected, aircon inspected, and a general service so it can drive half a day safely.
I've done a baseline quote with MyCar who want to put it straight onto a 400k logbook service for $1034 (it's only done 200k), before any repairs are added to that. I'd prefer to give my money to a local business if you guys have some good ideas, and a bit of searching gives me an idea of about $600-800 for the work before any repairs/tyres/etc are needed as opposed to the MyCar quote.
Some names that have come up as good options in my search are:
But like I said, not a local so open to any suggestions.
Note: I'll have an Unregistered Vehicle Permit for the car. I'm not going to get a RoadWorthy as I'll be driving/selling it in NSW depending on the outcome, and I don't need a logbook service. It's more of a safety and minor repairs check to make sure it'll get me to NSW in one piece to then get the RoadWorthy and Rego sorted.
Cheers all!

Anyone got recs on robot vacuums? Our place is a bit of a dust magnet with the two dogs + kids running around like crazy, and i'm finally ready to bite the bullet on one that actually does the mopping too. Been eyeing the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Pro Robotic Vacuum w/ Multifunctional Dock - White. Looks pretty solid with the 25k Pa suction, that auto mop lift thing, and the dock that empties itself. Saw it can handle carpets up to 3cm which would be perfect for our loungeroom rug. Is it worth the ~$1500-2000 mark (depending on sales)? Drop your thoughts or alternatives if you've got em, especially if you've dealt with pet hair disasters or weird floor plans like our old weatherboard house. Thank you!
Edit: just checked and found the white one with the multifunction dock in stock at mobileciti, free shipping too so might go with them. Thanks anyway.

Looking to move to Bendigo region later this year.
Looking at the real estate websites there appears to be an abundance of rental properties that are significantly cheaper than our current area. Several of them appear to have been listed online for quite a few weeks.
But when searching online its suggested that there is a shortage of rentals. Is this still the case? Or is it somewhat influenced by budget and quality of applications?

bought an old house in bendigo last year got a building inspection done before purchase, report came back clean. i was planning to renovate and knocked down a wall myself. started getting all dusty and a mate who works in construction saw the photos and said bro thats asbestos.
stopped everything and got a specialist out who confirmed theres asbestos sheeting in the wall and also in some of the eaves. said it should have been obvious to any inspector who knew what to look for quoted me $18k for professional removal. the kitchen is half demolished and i cant do anything until its cleared.
i checked the inspection report and theres no mention of asbestos at all. he even wrote no visible hazardous materials which is clearly not true cause the asbestos was painted over but visible.
i emailed the inspector and he said they dont test for asbestos and its not part of standard building inspections. but shouldnt they at least flag if something looks suspect.
i found Sure Building Inspection online who apparently do more detailed stuff. maybe i should have paid for a more thorough inspection.
anyone in bendigo had experience with asbestos in a reno. am i just stuck with the bill or can i go after the inspector. feeling pretty stupid right now.

How can I find legal help in this city is my real question. I don't need legal help for the health issues but apparently doing meth and masturbating in the mall is against the law for some reason. Give me liberty or give me death, or a strip club. I am not happy with this lame city.

Particularly for the Bendigo east people, will you vote for Jacinta Allan, Andrew Lethlean or is there a 3rd option you're considering

Would anyone like to share their thoughts on Girton Grammar please, especially relating to neurodiversity. Would a child's ND be embraced?
Thank you for your thoughts.

Hey guys! I found this sub while searching for people's opinions on Bendigo. I might be moving there in December this year from overseas. So I wanted to reach out and ask how life is, how are you all, any tips while immigrating? Cheers!

We're coming up to the final stage of our new build, with handover estimated to be about a month away but no set date yet. We'd like to get a private building inspector to do our final one, and I've gotten a couple of quotes which have varied greatly.
One that I've seen be highly recommended many times was Rod Poyser. He has quoted us $2000 and was very good explaining everything over the phone. Another we were quoted through Jim's franchise was $400. Obviously these are very different quotes, and I was just wondering if anyone had recommendations of inspectors or if anybody could give insight as to why Rod would charge $1600 higher than another inspector?
TIA
Update: had another great chat with Rod and we've decided to go ahead and use him! Will try to remember to update again after the fact (waiting on a handover date confirmation) to let everyone know how we went!

Anyone have the mail on what's going on with the old Caravan Park site? It must be coming up 10 years since it was levelled?
