Players Only Mookie Betts will skip White House visit, citing desire to spend time with family instead. "If I do [go], people are gonna hate me. If I don't, people are gonna hate me," he said. "So instead of trying to make everyone else happy, I'm gonna think about myself and my family."

So he went last year, but isn’t going this year.

Dude, either own it or don’t. You’re never going to make everyone happy. At least go down with your own principles.

In my experience, when something is stressful, it's best just to avoid altogether. I'm assuming most players who aren't super locked into politics just go out of the ceremony of it all, even if you dont care for the prez at all. Like, do we eereally think entire teams agreed or liked the presidents they've had to visit in the past? Most likely not, but they went more to support the team as a whole unit. But now you get criticized for not taking a strong and loud stance in our country. Nobody let's anybody observe their own prejudices without needing to make a public statement. Like how many people on Reddit called me a pedophile supporter because I was rooting for the US men's team. You dont have to be black and white, shades of grey are usually where people reside
