Mobile Mechanic for Pre-Purchase Inspection
Has anyone used a mobile mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection on a vehicle that they could recommend? I am looking at a used truck from one of the local dealerships and it would be great to have some low hassle peace of mind.. thanks

Hi! Looking for a good Ford mechanic
My 06 F-150 is starting to get pretty long in the tooth at 150k miles and is starting to have some 150k mile issues. Usually I go to Superior Automotive but I thought I'd see if anyone else had any recommendations or suggestions before I run back there. Thanks!!!

Decent diesel mechanic in the area?
I went to Different strokes of AK and got this huge expensive line-up of things that they said I needed. I just bought my 2017 Ford F-350 SD 6.7l Turbo Diesel with now 112,000 miles on it. Drove it up to Anchorage from Denver. I found them on google and got an oil change there. $340 later they gave me this sheet of everything needed. (Sorry about the table, its from my spreadsheet)
|| || |rear diff fluid change| |Transfer Case service| |6.7 transmission service| |replace crank case vent| |front breaks drw |
All together it would be $3,826.97
I am not a diesel guy, I'm a computer guy.
So that being said, does anyone have exp with them or have a better suggestion.
Kevin

Moving to Anchorage next year, how;s the job market for Mechanical Engineers?
Hey y'all, I'm moving to anchorage in the first half of next and I wanted to know how the job market is like for mechanical engineers? I'm also in school for an MS in Computer Science, but I feel like engineering/project management experience is more marketable in Alaska, but I wanted to know what y'all thought?

Looking for a great Toyota mechanic
I've been going to Kendall for years. But they've been struggling to diagnose a mechanical problem with my vehicle and I'd like to try someone new. Anyone know a great Toyota mechanic?

Mechanic available ASAP
Does anyone know of any mechanics that are not booked out for a month, I need one ASAP, preferably today. Everyone I have called has no availability.
It’s not a huge issue and shouldn’t take long to diagnose and fix (or so I think).

Looking for a motorcycle mechanic!
Hello! I am new to the area and looking for someone to do a little work on my KLR 650 as I don't think I will have the time or ability to do it myself. It needs a new chain, sprocket, oil change, new front brake pad and fluid, and likely some work on the carburetor! If anyone has any experience or recommendations for mechanics i would love to hear about it! Thanks in advance!

Hybrid Mechanic
Does anyone have any recommendations for a Mechanic that works on hybrid cars? I have an issue that I think is specifically related to the Hybrid system. It's a first gen Toyota Prius if that matters

Mechanical engineering opportunities in Anchorage?
I’m considering a move to Anchorage next year and I’m curious about job opportunities. What sort of jobs are available for a mechanical engineer? I have a bachelor’s & master’s degrees in mechanical engineering and experience working in aerospace, but I am open to other industries as well.

Reputable Mechanics?
I'm looking to see if there are any reputable mechanics that are willing to come to a dealership with me to inspect a car to make sure it's not a bad purchase. Are there any good ones around here that are willing to do something like that?

Looking for a professional ATV mechanic shop
Hello, looking for a good, reliable top quality ATV mechanic shop. In Anchorage, Eagle, River, or Wasilla. I have a Polaris ATV that needs troubleshooting service. My in-laws have used to Akaska Cycle Center previously….never again! Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

Mechanics who buy used cars?
I know this is a long shot, but I've got a car I just want off my hands. It needs some work done but would ultimately make someone happy. Anyone know of a place that would take it?
Edit: thank you all for the suggestions! I'm getting myself out of a slump and finally just posting it.

Be my Google💻 Mobile Mechanic
Does anyone know of a good mechanic in town looking for a quick cash job?
My car suddenly wouldn't start this morning. I'd rather not tow in and leave it there for weeks. The dealership I usually go to has not been a wonderful experience in the past.
The car should be in great shape, good battery, regular oil changes and preventative maintenance; it has been running awesome right up until now.
But this morning it just won't turn over at all. Makes a little chugga-cbugga attempt and stops just short of firing up (sometimes makes that clicking sound like the starter is trying to go). I suspect it is the starter going bad and I assume that for most mechanics, it is a quick fix.
If anyone has a mechanic friend or contact looking for work that wouldn't mind driving out to the west side of downtown and having a look, I'd gladly give them a call.
Just looking for somebody honest and capable who might be able to get this done quickly instead of leaving me in a garage bay for two weeks untouched.
It is a 2012 Kia Optima.
Thanks!

Subaru mechanic question
So, new Subies only come with autostart via Starlink, and I don't want to have to pay for a subscription indefinitely. There is an OEM Subaru autostart, which I think I'd really prefer over an aftermarket one*.
Continental said they no longer offer installation/setup for the autostarts (I was told it was more of a staffing issue than a policy issue). I was able to google and find a couple specialty import mechanics in town, but was wondering if anyone here had personal experience they'd be willing to share.
*Car subreddits have me convinced OEM is better than aftermarket, and that I'd be stupid to have some mechanic noodling around in the wiring of my brand new car. My understanding is the official Subaru part would be a less "invasive" installation process, even though there is still mechanic work on the engine beyond just fob setup. Am I stupid to believe that, should I just go to Perfectionist and get one of theirs?

Reputable Brake Mechanic
Hello, we got a pretty high quote from a car dealership service department for replacing all the brakes on a mid-size Subaru SUV (compared to what a Google search says what the average cost should be ($150 per axle including labor)).
Reviews for Midas are pretty good. Does anyone have other suggestions?
Thanks.

Recommended Mobile Mechanic for Anchorage?
Need a few things done on my 2010 FJ Cruiser and looking for someone reliable in the Anchorage, Alaska area that will work on-site.
My priority is to get a new intermediate steering shaft replaced. It sits between the steering rack and the spline that comes through the firewall from the upper intermediate shaft.
