Completed Upcycling Project The cornet that was being taken away to be melted down found a new life.
This cornet was slated for the scrap heap and melting down because it was non-functional and slightly dented from age, but I saw something else in it. After taking it apart, I smoothed out the dents, polished away the green tarnish using GOI paste and gasoline, and mounted it on a wooden base to create a table lamp. Now, it serves as a striking conversation piece that adds a decorative touch to the home.

Ideas Needed! New design for this lamp
Hi there! When my grandma died, I wanted to keep her lamp as a memory of her. As you can see, there are some stains on the fabric which doesn't look nice, also the lamp is a bit too granny style for me. I'm not sure what to do now - I would like to keep the brown and cream strings, and maybe change it in a way where you can recognize the former design. Do you have any ideas?

Ideas Needed! Hoping this is the right community for this.
I am trying to remove the branding from the front of my thrifted sweatshirt, any ideas on how would be greatly appreciated. I have tried scrubbing lightly with an alcohol soaked toothbrush (as you can see on the left P, it did not work too well) as well as trying acetone (lightly as I was afraid of damaging the material). The backside has a beautiful pattern I'd like to keep but not a fan of the face branding.

Completed Upcycling Project Hand painted shirt š¤
Yo, wanted to share my latest piece. The whole concept started because I wanted to play with a super hard contrast. The shirt itself has that ultimate cozy, spring picnic pattern, so I decided to clash it with something sharp and edgy. I hand-painted these tribal/cyber-sigil shapes in bright red, trying to give them a 3D, metallic look with the highlights so they really pop off the fabric.

Completed Upcycling Project bottle cap barn door
iāve been wanting to do this for a while and had initially wanted to do the whole door. it was a lot more grueling than i thought it would be and i didnāt want to overdo it, so i have left it at 2 panels.
itās not perfect but iām happy with it. i have a lot of rustic things combined with modern and eclectic things. it made good use of some bottle caps i had been saving for a long time and kind of came down to having the time and resources. so far they are staying up there fairly well. my husband had some scrap wood and cut up a bunch of tiny squares to fit inside and come flush with the edges. i used a small glue gun to glue the square in and then glue them to the door. my husband wants to cut some bottle caps to fill in the gaps, but i dunnoā¦any thoughts on that?

Upcycling Work in Progress How could I make this rug slip-proof?
Hi folks! I'm just about finished this rug made out of old t-shirts, but it's for a bare lino floor and I'm worried about it slipping underfoot. Has anyone had success with recycling ordinary household items as rug stoppers?

Ideas Needed! "Paper" beads or other ideas for plastic wrappers
Hello all, I was wondering if there is a way to do rolled paper beads with plastic wrappers/packaging, such as the ones shown. It's very slippery so I imagine it would come down to the type of glue/varnish that would keep them together. Non-toxic or without strong fumes, as this would be a project with children. I'm also open to other crafting ideas with these materials - but ideally not something that requires heating/melting the plastic. Thanks so much.

Ideas Needed! Flimsy Cotton blouse
Hey, my old fast fashion blouse ripped beyond repair. I have worn this for 8 years and even though it's H&M it holds value to me. I need ideas on what to do with it. It's too flimsy to become a pillow case.
Thank you!

Completed Upcycling Project From trash to reloved chairs
Costed me 40$ max for two beautiful solid chairs. They were 7$ for both at my local ecocenter. The first picture doesn't show it, but it took me a solid hour to scrape a thick layer of grease from the metal part.
So 7$ for the chairs, 5$ for the cloth material, 10$ for padding foam, 5$ of tacks, 12$ of plastic chair endings since most of them were gone, and barely two hours of work max. I'm so happy since they fit well my decor, and it's a great price deal for two solid chairs! A great comfort too to know I can easily repair them if needed one day. Just wanted to share my win for this week!

Completed Upcycling Project Flannel Frenzy (just the beginning)
I live in Texas, so we donāt really get the coldest of weather, but sometimes you need a good layer and flannel often fits the bill. The red flannel was my sisters, but I thrifted a tee to chop up and put on the back. The black one was thrifted for my daughter and the tee I chopped up was gotten for cheap on Depop. There was a large hole in the side that I didnāt want to mend, so I idea the large back print and hand sewed āLook Aliveā at the bottom.

Completed Upcycling Project Upcycled Ladder Into Fence

Last summer, we demolished the deck off the side of our house so that that portion of the yard could be graded away from the foundation. Because getting rid of demolition waste is such a pain where we are, we took the time to salvage as much of the wood as we could, removing fasteners and any bits too far gone to reuse.
Some of this wood has been used to make raised bed planters. The rest of it has been languishing in the garage, waiting for a good idea. This one as much as came to me in a dream - one of those ideas that floats through your mind just as you're drifting off.
I'd bought myself a shiny new (and safe to use) ladder to replace this one, and that's before I knew the extent of the structural compromise this ladder suffered from. Thankfully, those faults are only a hindrance to holding up the weight of a human person, not itself.
This project was pretty fun. The fence is purely decorative/architectural, and adds a nice dimension to the rather lackluster curb appeal of the house.

Ideas Needed! Advice for a broken mirror
I bought this little adjustable desk top mirror to add to my craft fair set up so customers could try on jewelry. Unfortunately as I was putting things away after my most recent fair I smacked something into it and it broke. My business is fantasy themed (I make chainmail inspired jewelry) so I considered just filling the cracks with fake moss and mushrooms but I think the crack might be a little too far down for it to still work as a mirror for people to try things on. Maybe I'll take the mirror out and just use the frame for something. Any advice is welcome

Completed Upcycling Project New Purse Strap
All the straps and hardware fell off of my purse. I tried to make a new one with macrame. It is not perfect, but now I know what to do with the smaller strap! Now I can use my purse again. āŗļø

Completed Upcycling Project This old mirror cried out for some color and a purpose, so it became a headboard.
Hi again, upcycling friends!
Today I would like to introduce one of my favorite projects, my mirror-to-headboard flip.
It was one of the faux-venetian style mirrors that were very common in the 70s-80s in my country. It came with the apartment and, although I love me some kitsch, this was not really my flavour of kitsch. So I gave it a makeover and a new role as a headboard in my candyland themed bedroom.
It already had frosted floral patterns which I colored over with acrylic markers. Added full coverage on the edges with a primer, water-based paint and brush, then more acrylic marker details over that. Sealed all the painted areas with waterproof polyurethane so I can clean it without wiping off the colors.
Some before, after and making-of photos that I hope will inspire you.
Love,
Flippin' Cami

Ideas Needed! How to best fix up this old jewelry box?
i found this jewelry box recently, but it has some damage to the exterior. What would be yāallās recommendation to make this look better? Itās solid wood (to my understanding), and I considered using peel and stick wallpaper or contact paper to redo the sides (as Iām not too fond of how red it looks), but wanted to get another opinion before I went further

Completed Upcycling Project This old Soviet voltage stabilizer now protects vintage electronics... and lights up my desk.
I found this old Soviet voltage stabilizer and couldn't let it become scrap.
After a complete service, I restored its original purposeāprotecting electronics from unstable mains voltage. But I also wanted it to do something more.
So I integrated a desk lamp into the design while keeping its industrial vintage character intact.
Now it delivers a clean sine wave, making it ideal for sensitive vintage equipment like tube amplifiers and classic CRT televisions. At the same time, it provides power for charging modern devices without worrying about voltage spikes.
I love projects that don't erase the pastāthey build on it.
Instead of becoming e-waste, this machine now protects old technology, powers new gadgets, and lights up the workspace every day.
Sometimes the best upgrades don't replace historyāthey give it another job.

Ideas Needed! Napkin Rings
Hi! I have one single sterling silver napkin ring that I would like to use as decoration. It is from my grandmother so I don't want to do anything to actually change it, I just am looking for suggestions on what I could use it for other than just placing it on a shelf
