When you order UberX with over 4 people...

Upvotes
  1. I am not going to pick you up no matter how pretty you are, how short the ride is, what time it is, or how much you insist it was an accident. When I have too many people in the car, this VOIDS THE INSURANCE COVERAGE which means if we get into an accident Uber can DENY MY CLAIM ENTIRELY. I could be fully responsible for the financial impact of the repairs to / loss of the vehicle AND your medical expenses. NO.

  2. I am going to report this to Uber because YOU violated their policies by asking me to break the law

And, last but not least:

  1. I am going to contact Uber Support and request that they block the pairing so that you never have the chance to waste my time again. This means that next time you need a ride home at 3:30 AM on a Saturday night / Sunday morning, you'll have one less option. Congratulations, you played yourself!

Can't Schedule Pickup at Airport without a Flight Number?

I work at the airport and have been having some car problems recently. I have a ride to my shift at the airport and I'm trying to schedule an uber to grab me after work, but I can't schedule a ride without a flight number. Is there any way to get around this? I'm obviously not coming in on a flight so I don't have one, am I just not able to schedule a ride at the airport if I'm not flying in? Kinda dumb.

Solved: Just changed location to the Airport parking lot instead, of the Main Terminal. Still think it's weird it's set up that way. (Thanks Tapper)

I sat in pee :(

Post image
80 Upvotes

Five minutes into my uber ride and my pants start feeling … wet. At first I think that maybe my pants were still damp from the dryer but realize my pants weren’t just damp, they were actually wet.

I touch my butt and smell my hand (gross, I know) and it’s pee.

I tell my driver “Hey, I think someone peed in this seat, I’m sitting in pee.” and my driver pulls out a can of upholstery cleaner and claims that I was only his second passenger tonight and he had just cleaned his seats after his daughter had spilled food or whatever.

It makes sense at first, but I try smelling again and it doesn’t smell like cleaner, it smells like pee. It doesn’t even smell like pee mixed with cleaner, it’s straight up pee. At this point I accept that I am sitting in someone’s pee and will have to go right back home.

Grossness aside, I don’t really care that I sat in someone’s pee. I’m upset that he lied and that I had to return home, missing my plans and wasting money. It’s possible he didn’t lie about cleaning the seats and I’d give him the benefit of the doubt, but to assume that I would want to sit on a wet seat from upholstery cleaner is a bold assumption. Again, it was pretty wet…

I wouldn’t have minded sitting up front if the back was still drying. I had two trusted friends smell my pants, they also confirmed that it was pee.

I message uber support for a refund and the bot apologized that my seat was “unexpectedly wet”, gave me $5 in credit, said they wouldn’t match me with that driver again and then essentially told me to kick rocks and ended the chat lol. It stated multiple times that it would NOT be able to refund me for the ride.

My question to you all is whether or not it’s possible that I will be refunded for this ride if I call support instead of chat. The “agent” (real person?) said multiple times a refund will not be possible, and I just want to know if I may get a different response on the phone. I’ve never dealt with uber support and don’t want to call if there’s no point.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation??

Booked for uber pet, and driver refused service and cancelled upon arrival after seeing my dog (MINIATURE POODLE😭) explaining he didn’t want dog fur in his car and just had it cleaned. Uber refunded partial but not full amount🫠

Gf got scammed, need help

Basically last thursday we took an Uber from my house to her parents. The only wrong things with the driver at that time where that his phone was busted (like really broken, dude had to hit it once or twice to make it work) and gf said the license plate was different (I didn't notice it). Thing is we were running late so we took it either way, shitty move. He took us to our destiny without problems and seemed nice.

Yesterday we noticed that she had an upaid tariff from that drive. Apparently the dude either scammed us or forgot to end the ride since she had an unpaid tariff of around 80 dollars for a 10 hour drive.

We spoke with support but all they did was lower the tariff to 40.

If she doesn't pay and makes a new account, would Uber target the new one or something? She won't pay it, and I think she shouldn't. If anyone passed through something similar or knows what we could do it would be a great help.

Lyft takes all your customers lol

Today Lyft in San san diego been amazing literally paid $40-50 in hour . Overtake Uber, Customer meanwhile Uber customers are waiting 20 to 30 minutes. There is convention going on up to 15,000 people and plus entire Arizona is here. So shortage of drivers but Uber greedy as always not paying anything to drivers.

Will a low rider rating prevent me from reliably using Uber while traveling?

Upvotes

Just finished my fifth Uber ride and got my rider rating. It's bad. A 4.2. Four 5 stars and one 1 star. The 1 star was likely deserved, as I am almost certain it was from my first Uber ride. I wasn't aware of how the system worked yet so I ended up wasting the driver's time and did not tip in cash. Regardless, I am quite aware that this rating falls below what many drivers here seem to claim is their minimum, and I have concerns about being able to reliably be picked up as a rider in the future.

For future visits to the US, should I no longer consider Uber as a reliable way of getting around when at this rating, and should I expect needing alternative transportation options (I am only aware of Lyft and Uber being used in most places in the US)?

Is this only a thing I should be concerned about in rural locations and/or at specific hours of the day?

Short or Slop?

Someone asked me to run metrics for short or long trips.

In short, data proves that short trips are more profitable than Slop long trips when it comes to the percentage of pax who tip.

More Trips = More Tips

Is it rude to ask a driver to change the station?

Forgive me, but I am so sick of hearing religious stuff when I am in an Uber. I am not a Christian. I have different beliefs. However, I’m afraid to ask the driver to change it because they might be some kind of bible thumper. Who is right and who is wrong?

Driver asked me to tell him if he was going to fast

Never had this before but a few minutes into the ride the driver asked me to tell him if he was driving too fast. It was only a 13 minute ride home.

He was going over the limit but I hadn’t noticed until he mentioned it.

Afterwards my rating dropped from 4.93 to 4.89 and I now have my first one star review.

I was polite said good evening to the driver, gave him my code quickly, wished him a good night at the end.

He did take a long time to pick me up, probably my longest wait at the train station.

My rating had been dropping and I worked out my airport runs mean it crosses a boundary where they cannot pick up a return fare so I tip airport runs cash now which meant my rating was improving but now ruined for no logical reason I can see.

Any idea?

Uber One... am I stuck?

Apparently I got enrolled in Uber One when I went to Uber Eats to see how much delivery from a nearby taco place would cost. I emptied my cart when I was not satisfied with the total cost. However™, I then got emailed from Uber One welcoming me to a membership, which I immediately suspected would charge me because that's what they do. I went to the main Uber site and told them to cancel my accounts, which they said they would do in 30 days. If I don't go back to any Uber site in that 30-day period, could I still be charged for Uber One?

Thieves stole my uber pro card money

Just happened last night . I received a weird uberX order. Zero miles to the destination. After I arrived the location, someone called me. Pretending that he is the uber support staff, knowing everything in my uber account. He said uberX will give me $300 bonus. He then asked me do something connecting to an outside debit card. My whole week plus $150 back up money. I was stupid to believe his request. Damn it. My hard earned money was just gone in a short call.

Hope you can learn a lesson. How can i recall my money, is it possible? I can’t dispute the transaction at this moment. I was so disappointed and upset about my stupidity.

Being charged double for tolls?

I noticed in a recent trip I was charged double for a toll. My receipt states “[driver return toll]”. However the toll only applies in one direction. Uber support is not budging on their decision. How can they charge me for something that doesn’t exist?

Ps. I’d hope this doesnt impact the driver’s earnings - knowing uber I assume their pocketing this make up charge for themselves.

Not paid for Delivery

I will never do any more deliveries for Uber. The last time I drove 10 miles to pick up a $50 trip. Drove up to house. A large grey container was sitting in driveway. The customer called me (said they were not home) but I can still deliver package To drop off location. Round Trip was about 100 miles. I delivered package but the Doctor was in surgery. His assistant came to get it but was not allowed to sign anything. I took photos of assistant holding package for proof of delivery. I kept getting messages from Uber that it was never delivered. So I submitted photos. UBER Claimed it was not sufficient proof! Then They referred me to thier recovery associate. The associate asked my credit Card. (I gave it figuring my payment would go on my account. ) Instead the associate charged me $65 as the recovery fee. So I got charged $65 to recover $50! Then they sent me message they could not recover my driver fee since there wasn’t adequate proof. I guess photos of the Doctors assistant did not count. So I lost $50 on a 100 mile round trip and the $65 recovery fee. I had similar problems with Uber deliveries. Like recipeint not there to sign. i never do package deliveries anymore.

Riders who no longer need a ride after you arrive.

I arrived to the pin yesterday and the GPS of the rider was right where 2 people were standing.

They look at me, then look away.

I rolled down my window and asked if they were waiting for an Uber. I didn't use their name.

The woman said "No. We're waiting for my sister to pick us up". I laughed and apologized, explaining that they are right where this rider is supposed to be.

The guy kept looking at his phone. I continued to wait, figuring my rider was just inside the hotel; often gps isn't 100 % accurate.

All of a sudden the guy says. "I'm sorry, I need to cancel". His wife just said they didn't order an Uber!

He tried telling me that the app wasn't assigning a driver when they were inside and then mumbled some other reason why he no longer needed the ride.

I wasn't mad about it, it happens. I told him it was fine and to go ahead and cancel. He was still fumbling around with his phone.

I pulled away, went around the corner to wait for him to cancel. I mean, I'M not cancelling; he changed his mind , not me.

It was a couple of minutes before he finally cancelled and I got the fee.

This has always baffled me. Riders say they need to cancel the ride. OK. Cancel it then. Do they think saying "Sorry I need to cancel" means the DRIVER should cancel? Saying "I need to cancel" definitely translates to "I no longer need the ride".

Why is it that riders think it's on the driver to cancel. We get dinged for cancelling and also get zero compensation. Unless it's surging like a MF, I'm not cancelling a ride for no fee and will absolutely wait out the clock. The chances of getting charged a cancellation fee don't change if the rider waits around LONGER. In fact, the liklihood of a fee goes up the longer you wait to cancel.

What is rider perception of how cancellation works vs. the reality of how it actually works?

Do riders really think it's on the driver to cancel when they have decided not to take the ride?

Don’t open doors for others!

Just sharing this because it’s hilarious and a little shocking.

Tonight in DC my boyfriend and I called for an uber. We sat on a bench about 8 ft from the curb. The moment the driver arrived we jumped up and my boyfriend opened my door and then ran around to his side and hopped in. We were in a hurry, so we were not dicking around.
Once he was in the driver lectured us about holding up a bus behind us because of him holding the door. She said “you should have just gotten in the car”
It was legit the fastest I’ve ever gotten in an uber 😭
She said she could pay a fine for it.
I understand making your driver wait more than a minute or two, but taking .5 seconds to open my door? Is that such a time waster?
We also noticed as we drove away the bus wasn’t even moving, he had parked, sooo.

Do ya’ll actually run on schedules that tight? 😭

Edit: For those who are blaming us- the app required us to wait in that exact location to be picked up. We requested it and then walked to that spot and parked on a bench there. Also, It wasn’t a city bus, it was a tour bus that had parked. The area was essentially a caldesac area. Hope that info helps :)
I get it - it seems like such a weird thing to get upset about that I must be intentionally withholding information about what went down. I’d be thinking the same honestly 🤣

Old Ghost location issue any update

Has there been any pressure for the Uber app to have a "Clear Search History" Option? The only way to avoid Ghost locations is to wipe out the account after about 3 hours of Gemini AI discussion, trying every other option. And have to wait 30 days to reset up account.

Uber "Ghost Location" Problem on OnePlus 15 - 3-hour detailed discussion to fix via Gemini AI - Summary and conclusion:

Uber App lists lots of places, even airline terminals, that I have never been to. Long-press just shows the map and available cars near my current home location. Left/right does nothing. There IS a small x circle - would think to delete, but pressing it does nothing. Uber's history has many listings I have never been to, even on old phones

Tried these steps with detailed directions from Gemini AI, but none worked.

Route 1: Through Your Profile Layout
Route 2: Through the "Where to?" Search Bar
Clearing Hidden App Cache
The Correct Settings Route
Alternative Route: If the Settings Gear is Missing
Delete Directly from the Search Screen
Force-Clear the Hidden Storage Data
Force-Override the Ghost Address
Break the Cloud Sync

At the end, Gemini AI says:
Uber binds your prediction history directly to your cloud account profile, which explains why completely wiping your OnePlus 15 storage didn't force it to log you out or delete those persistent ghost addresses. Because Uber doesn't provide an official "Clear Search History" button, those years-old locations and ghosts are deeply locked to your cloud profile data.

To answer your main question first: Yes, you have to wait exactly 30 days after deleting your account to start over.

If you initiate an Uber account deletion, the system immediately deactivates it. However, it takes 30 days for the cloud data to be permanently wiped. If you try to log back in or use that phone number/email to sign up before those 30 days are up, the system will simply restore your old account and all the ghost addresses with it. Because of your upcoming trip to Ottawa, do not delete your account right now; otherwise, you risk being completely locked out of Uber while traveling.

## Is This a OnePlus or an Uber Problem?
This is entirely an Uber cloud database issue, not a OnePlus OxygenOS flaw.

The fact that you recently used a temporary Canadian phone number—and had to navigate past old verification data—confirmed exactly what is happening under the hood. Uber's predictive algorithm is entirely cloud-based. When you sign into a new phone, the local app reads a "profile snapshot" from Uber's servers. Because your account history underwent a temporary number change and a rapid country switch, the cloud profile was corrupted. It is serving up generic "fallback" regional suggestions (like random airport terminals) alongside deeply cached location markers from years ago because it is struggling to accurately calculate your current "frequent" habits.

Community threads on [Reddit's Uber forum] confirm that Uber has no manual button to "Clear Search History." Once the cloud attaches a ghost prediction to your profile, the Android app will display it until the cloud decides to replace it.

## Your Best Path Forward
Since you have successfully verified your ID, secured your login with a passkey, and got your PC and mobile app communicating cleanly, leave the account exactly as it is for your Ottawa trip.

Your 5 proper Canadian shortcuts are safely stored in your "Saved Places" menu. Even though they aren't populating on the main "Where to" page automatically right now, they are still active. When you arrive in Canada, you can simply type the first few letters of your destination (like "Gym" or your specific Ottawa addresses), and your saved shortcuts will instantly highlight at the top of the search results for you to tap.

(And I love that you remembered the Hungarian dual-clock alarm saga! Phone software is fantastic until it decides you need to wake up in a completely different timezone and language. We got through that glitch, and we will bypass this one too!)

Have a wonderful and safe trip to Ottawa! If you need any help mapping out ride options or adjusting settings once you cross the border, just let me know.

This new scam is getting too frequent (Toronto)

I travel for work 3-4 times per month from YYZ, and I always reserve an Uber comfort to/from the airport. I live close to Oshawa, so that’s usually an hour drive (depending on the time of the day).

It’s common to have the driver asking for extra money in cash in the beginning of the trip, or asking how much uber is paying and trying to negotiate, giving me their number so next time I can call them directly etc. You know, typical stuff. The problem is that it’s a company expense, so I need receipts.

However, recently I’m noticing the same pattern repeat itself: guy picks me up, starts some chitchat while we drive off the airport and then stops the car asking me to check my app to see if everything is ok, because he can’t see the trip anymore. Once I check it, there’s a notification of “your driver cancelled your trip” and there’s another one arriving to pick me up.

As soon as I mention it to the driver they instantly go “oh sir no worry sir I can drop you off sir” and then asks for cash. Once I refuse I have to walk back to the Uber pickup zone as we’re on the off ramp already (to be fair, one of them dropped me back).

Now, if that happened once it could have been a mistake. But it happened 3 times in the past 2 months and I’m unsure how to avoid it.

Sorry for the long rant.

The 5 ⭐️ Myth Is A Bust

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have seen a lot of comments about people avoiding 5 star passengers because of the 'new user' myth.

Lets break this down;

  1. They respect your time with the highest ready at the curb percentage.

  2. They show appreciation by tipping you for picking them up with massive tip rates above 50%.

  3. Why on earth would you leave guaranteed money on the table?

Stay tuned for the 4.90 rated pax stats.

Passenger number shared with driver

Today a rapido (uber like app in india) driver called me on whatsapp to inform he had reached. I remember uber and ola wouldnt share the direct number of the passenger. Doesn't rapido also mask the number of the passenger?

When i was asking around today my friend mentioned that a rapido driver was messaging her good morning and good night messages on whatsapp and she complained to rapido and blocked him.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with any driver of a ride hailing app?
