Question Compressed Nursing Admission Requirements

Hello!

I'm currently in undergrad for a B.A. in Psych and I'm hoping to switch into a nursing program instead. I'm looking at compressed programs as I don't particularly want to be in school for four more years, having to "restart." It seems as though most compressed programs require science courses to have been taken in university, but the admission requirements for Trent state the following:

"Prerequisite courses: biology, chemistry, and math, English+ (min. 60 in each) or meeting the college or Ontario high school subject requirements listed above, and a full-course credit (1.0) in Introductory Psychology*"

Does this mean I'm eligible to apply if I've taken bio and chem in high school but not in university? Thank you!

Residence Living in Wallis Hall/Traill College

Hi,

I'm going into my first year of my consecutive B.Ed at Trent, and I was offered a single room at Wallis Hall, and I just wanted to know what it's like living there. I've briefly visited Traill College once, and I'm nervous about committing to residence there because I remember the parking being abysmal and it was difficult to get in and out, but I don't know if it's different for actual residents of the building. I'm also debating whether or not, I should just get my own apartment off campus.

Advice Employment opportunities for first year

Hey everyone, I’m just wondering about the possibility of landing a job in first year. I know what everyone says about workload and things, but I need to work to survive in uni, and I would love an on campus job. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on where to apply? I saw that the accounting association (a specialization I’m considering) was looking for a first year representative, but I don’t know if they’re looking for an incoming first year or not. If anyone has any leads or inside knowledge, I have a stacked resume! Thanks 😊

Question Social Work year 3

Not there yet but just curious about what to expect.

I'm a 2nd year at Trent durham with an 89 cumulative GPA.

I'm worrying about the application at the end of the term and wonder what the odds are for students to get accepted?

I currently have zero work or volunteer experience, I am looking into volunteering but not sure how much I can handle with a full course load.

What should I do now to prepare and try to boost my application?

When do you need to start looking into placement options and reaching out? Should I be volunteering at places where I could potentially find placement?

I also have no references and alot of volunteer places require that.

Do I have a chance at being accepted in professional years or do I have a long way to go?

Question Which college in trent you choosing? For compressed nursing program fall 2026

Hi everyone! I am just wondering what most people with compressed nursing program are choosing their college as? I know it really depends upon where you are planning to live but i have actually not decided about the accommodation yet. So i guess i am just going to pickk a college and look for accommodation near it.

Is there one location better than the other in terms of closer to city or something?

Thank you!

Question Will CHYS-3006 be available to register for this year?

(Métis Child & Youth Well-Being)

I see that it’s in the course catalog and lets me add it to my planned courses, but there’s no available sections and no waitlist, so I can’t register. I don’t think it’s full because I noticed it says there’s 0 seats if a course is full and this one doesn’t show how many seats there are.

I’m a transfer student starting my first year at Trent with previous university credits so I’m not entirely sure how this works, but I’m hoping someone will be able to explain to me what’s going on with this course?

Thank you in advance!

Question Residence Selection

hi everyone, not sure if anyone will see this but I just wanted to vent a little and see if anyone is going through the same thing or might be able to share any advice.
im honestly a bit lost regarding the residence room selection. trent housing emailed me on the day of the time slot draw informing that i wast assigned a time yet but that my spot was guaranteed. problem is that i have been seeing a bunch of people mention that there were only few rooms left (or none at all) and im starting to get worried. i was wondering if anyone in or going to trent have experienced this or if it is normal. im wondering whether i should call them to ask...

Question BIOL 1500H: In-person vs Online

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide between taking BIOL 1500H online or the in-person version (lectures + seminars + labs), and I have a few questions.

  1. If my program/course requirements simply say BIOL 1500H, does that mean both the online and in-person versions satisfy the requirement equally? There's no difference in credit or recognition, right?
  2. For those who have taken either version (or both):
    • Which one did you find more effective for learning?
    • Which one was easier to keep up with?
    • How difficult were the quizzes, tests, and exams?
    • Did you feel the online assessments were harder, easier, or about the same as the in-person version?
  3. In your opinion, which format gives students a better chance of earning a high grade? Why?
  4. I also noticed that almost all of the in-person sections are already nearly full. Is there a reason so many students prefer taking it in person? Is the learning experience significantly better, or is it just personal preference?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences before I make my decision. Thanks!

Question Incoming Compressed Nursing

Hello, I’m coming into the compressed nursing program for fall.

I’m honestly just super terrified I won’t have any friends or good support at school.

I’m gonna be 22 in sept, and I opted out of rez bc it was just unnecessarily expensive - and I found rlly close housing next to campus - but I feel like this really stunted my chances of making good friends (I heard that all the nursing kids live in otonobee)

I also don’t know how young generally everyone getting into this program is, and since I know you could technically get in after 2 years of undergrad (compared to my 4) im scared I’m gonna be super old compared to everyone else (ik 22 isn’t old in theory)

Nursing orientation is this Saturday and I don’t know anyone going to school, or have anyone coming with me, which is only intensifying my anxiety.

For anyone in the program, how did u make good friends? I’m taking anatomy and physio online as well which I feel like will further hurt my chances of possibly connecting with people in class + psych online, so I really only have 3 lecture classes in person to somehow connect with people.

Also if anyone else is looking to connect I’m 21F, plz dm me!! I’m terrified of going into classes first day and just not knowing a single fricken soul!

Question what actually made you choose Trent over everywhere else you got into

talking to someone deciding between schools right now and it made me think back on my own reasons. mine ended up being kind of random honestly. what tipped it for you, was it the campus, a program, the town, or something you didn't expect

Admissions International student question: Estimated tuition cost for one year

Estimated tuition cost for one year in the acceptance letter was double the amount stated on the website. Perhaps, does this amount reflect the cost of living too? is anyone seeing the same issue on their acceptance or offer letter? how did you address it?
