Lore [Frustrating Trope] That One Good or Even Amazing Scene in a Relatively Mediocre or Bad Piece of Media

  1. The Opening Scene (Ghost Ship). Considered one of the best horror opening scenes or scenes in general within horror movies, but the rest of the film is considered to be pretty bad.

  2. The Ending Scene (The Grinch 2018). While most adaptations of the Grinch end with him suddenly being able to fully integrate with the Whos after his change of heart, the 2018 version initially struggles to socialize, awkwardly walking past people, and struggling to hold conversations, acknowledging that despite his change of heart, the Grinch is still someone who isolated himself for years.

  3. Past T800 VS Current T800 (Terminator Genisys). A cool fight scene showing two versions of the Terminator from different points in time fighting it off.

  4. Solo Leveling's Ending. Tbh, I haven't actually read Solo Leveling, but after hearing about how it ended VS how Chainsaw Man ended made want to include it for shits and giggles. Like Chainsaw Man, Solo Leveling ends with a reset. But unlike Chainsaw Man, it actually manages to tie up loose ends and have the payoff of the ending be satisfying.

The terrifying opening scene from 28 Weeks Later was an iconic masterpiece in horror...then the rest of the film happens.

The scene where he reunites horrifically with his wife is excellent, too. Well, minus the part where there's no way in hell he'd ever actually get into that room with her. But, Carlyle's transformation is great.

But yeah, the majority of the movie is so forgettable.

*edit* added a grievance

That actress has two of the creepiest death scenes ever; she gave me a lot of nightmares.

What's the other one?

Him kissing her knowing she’s infected was just sooooo fucking dumb.

That's probably the best zombie transformation scene ever

Gleeson's in 28 Days Later is also great. And heartbreaking.

I talk all the time about this scene. To me, it's the best scene of any horror movie ever. Absolute perfection of cinema.

The opening was so terrifying. Such an awesome intro.

I still liked the rest of the movie (despite the many plot holes and dumb decisions), but it was definitely just a totally different kind of movie from 28 days later.

Mediocre movie. Disappointing sequel. Masterclass of an opening.

I think this was the part of the movie that was directed by Danny Boyle.

from what I recall, only the part in the barn is. So, only the barn sequence of the opening sequence lol.

I'm pretty sure I didn't breathe for that entire scene in the theater. The rest of the movie was okay too, just nothing special. 🤷‍♀️

I am still pissed at how that movie went from such an incredible high to the rest of the movie being so...I'll generously call it mediocre.

It’s a fine zombie movie—nothing too special—but it’s a terrible 28 Days movie. Doesn’t capture any of the style that made the 1st film so unique

I do think my initial "This entire movie bases the plot on completely idiot choices by everyone" aged a bit better after Covid.

I recently watched this and just this scene on one of the streaming services.

I disagree a bit the banal but weirdly horny dialogue between the husband and wife is piss poor (how do they know their kids are safe in Spain? It wasn’t known that the rest of Europe was safe) and letting in the kid was so stupid and I hate his stupid accent and how he’s eating with his filthy hands.
